Offered for sale is an absolutely gorgeous 1990 Jeep Grand Wagoneer that has accrued a mere 39k miles during its extremely well-cared-for life. Finished in Baltic Blue Metallic over a Sand interior, everything is all original and in well-preserved condition, making this an exceptional opportunity to acquire an American icon and the final production run, “Best of the Breed” example. For the last decade this truck has seen only occasional use, always garaged and used as a seasonal beach cruiser during the summer months.  It has been serviced regularly throughout its life and recently received a full engine, suspension and transmission service.

The Wagoneer had one of the longest production runs in US history, spanning 28 years under license of three different manufacturers. Chrysler bought the rights to Jeep in 1987 and set about making a few minor changes to the Wagoneer, refining the exterior and addressing some known faults of the car, prompting new branding as the “Grand” Wagoneer. The 1987 plus model year Grand Wagoneers, received improved wood siding, modernized aluminum wheels and two stage base coat/clear coat paint finish. In 1989 the Grand Wagoneer received a few more upgrades to keep it competitive with its new competitor, the Grand Cherokee. These final three production years received a new A/C compressor, rear wiper assembly and an overhead console with compass and temperature gauges. The changes made to these 1989-1991 model year Grand Wagoneers and the resulting strong sales numbers further a legacy that solidified the Wagoneers place in automotive history.  These examples are known as “the best of the breed”, not because of Chrysler’s marketing, but their high production quality, classic styling and strong mechanicals have caused Jeep enthusiasts to bestow them with that honor.

This Grand Wagoneer has stood the test of time, showing its age beautifully with paint and wood siding still in pristine condition, a straight, original and rust free body with consistent factory panel fits and gaps. The chrome has few imperfections, the glass and rubber are in excellent original condition and the original wheels are flawless and wrapped in tires with plenty of remaining tread. All of the power windows, wipers, A/C, and instrument cluster are still original and in perfect working order, as are the compass and temperature gauges. The truck has an excellent aftermarket Alpine Radio/CD player with an auxiliary plug in, however the original Jeep unit is also included in case its next owner wants to return the car to entirely original. The car has had weatherproof rubber mats that have kept the carpets pristine and the seats are equally clean, the leather crack free and the Cumberland cord inserts showing negligible signs of age. The fit and finish of the dash, and all the control knobs for the power windows, A/C system, and cruise control are solid.

After twenty-four years on the road this Grand Wagoneer is in exceptional working order.  The engine feels powerful and solid and the three speed Chrysler transmission’s shifting is smooth and on point.  The car drives straight and true, and brakes and handling are all as they should be. As mentioned above, the car underwent an extensive service with all fluids being replaced, any worn seals addressed and the suspension checked for leaks. The 4WD system was also serviced and had its fluids replaced. Consequently, the ride quality and performance are what one would expect from a well-maintained, 39k original mile car.

This is an excellent opportunity to acquire what is arguably the finest original example of a quickly appreciating icon. Finding them in this condition, especially unrestored, is becoming virtually impossible, driving values to levels that were never expected and yet completely understandable from a collector’s perspective. Whether this stellar example is to be used as a more frequent driver or as a fun alternative asset in a serious collection, if you’re in the market for an exceptional Grand Wagoneer, it deserves your serious consideration.

We want this car to go to great home and would be happy to further discuss it and answer any questions, so please feel free to email us or call us at 805-202-4557. You can also visit us online at GoodmanReed.

PLEASE NOTE: The truck's VIN was unavailable at the time of this posting and will be added on Monday, January 6th. We can assure you that it is an accident free example with a clear CARFAX report and title. Please call or email us with any additional questions.

We’ve always had an appreciation for classic cars and over the years have created an eclectic personal collection. We only buy cars that we’d personally be interested in owning and generally only sell them to make room for other acquisitions. That time has come for this Jeep (if the price is right, of course – this isn’t a fire sale). We try to give accurate descriptions of the cars we’re selling, but we’re enthusiasts, not experts, and we encourage and are happy to help facilitate personal or professional inspections. But please do so before bidding, as the alternative harms our ability to make sales to other interested parties who have done their proper due diligence before bidding.

For U.S. buyers a 10% non-refundable deposit is required within 3 days of the auction’s end, the balance to be paid within 7 days of the auction’s end. Foreign buyers must pay in full within 7 business days of the auction’s end. Buyer is responsible for shipping, however we’d be more that happy to help with recommendations and arrangements. The car is listed locally and we reserve the right to end the auction at any time should it sell prior to auction’s end. Thanks for your interest.

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel and SRT climb onto stage

Mon, 14 Jan 2013

This is indeed a case of not knowing how much we wanted something until it arrived. We've been big fans of the Jeep Grand Cherokee ever since the new model arrived a couple of years ago, and while the update you see here might seem just a slight refresh, it's actually much more than that.
For starters, the 2014 Grand Cherokee marks the return of a diesel model here in the States, with Chrysler's new 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 under the hood, churning out 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Of course, all of the Grand Cherokee's usual off-road goodies are on hand, with moderate tweaks to make it an even more capable vehicle when the going gets rough. Both the gasoline-fed 3.6-liter V6 and 5.7-liter V8 get the new eight-speed auto, as well.
The high-performance Grand Cherokee SRT also trudges on into the new model year, with very subtle tweaks found underneath the aggressive, slightly redesigned sheetmetal. The 6.4-liter Hemi V8 also gets eight-speed gearing, which Chrysler says will improve not only 0-60 times, but mid-range performance as well. Bring it on, we say.

This American Life spends a week selling Jeeps in Long Island

Thu, 19 Dec 2013

So you think you know car dealers? Well, maybe you do, but This American Life spent a month at Town and Country Jeep Chrysler Doge Ram in Long Island to give us a behind-the-scenes look (or listen, since it's a radio program) at what it's like to be a car dealer.
Yes, there's a lot of swearing in thick New York accents, frustration, confusion, and generally it's a madhouse at the dealership. But that's understandable when the sales staff has to sell 129 vehicles in October in order to get an $85,000 manufacturer bonus - with several other Jeep dealerships within a 10-mile radius.
The episode, 129 Cars, is worth a listen, but make sure you have 71 minutes to spare if you want to get through it in one sitting. Head here for the unedited version or here for the bleeped version (which is 58 minutes long).

Jeep reveals Grand Cherokee SRT Night, Wrangler Backcountry

Thu, Nov 12 2015

Another major car show is almost upon us, and you know what that means. That's right, boys and girls – another pair of custom Jeeps. Far be it from us to complain, though, especially when the pair of SUVs debuting at the LA Auto Show this month aren't just for show. These will actually be offered to the public as new special editions. In one corner we have the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Night edition, with all the brightwork replaced with black. The roof, rear spoiler, front grille bezels, pillars, and window surrounds are all done up in gloss black, while the wheels – custom 20-inch jobs – as well as the front applique and badging have all been given a satin black treatment. The interior, as you might have guessed, is also predominantly black, with black leather, black chrome bezels, and silver stitching. Buyers will be able to choose between deep red, silver, or dark gray exterior colors, but either way they'll be getting the same 6.4-liter V8 – all 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of it. In the other corner is the Jeep Wrangler Backcountry. This one's based on the Wrangler Sahara and features a special off-road front bumper, powder-coated rear bumper, and the 17-inch wheels and rock rails from the Wrangler Rubicon. The interior features piano-black trim, leather and mesh seats, vinyl accents, nine-speaker Alpine sound system, and more. It'll be available in five colors – blue, black, white, gray or purple – with special graphics (because nothing says "backcountry" quite like neon pink decals on a purple Jeep) and a standard black (or optional body-colored) hardtop. The Wrangler Backcountry will be reaching dealers around the same time as its live debut towards the end of this month. Don't expect to see the GC Night edition on the streets until early next year, though. Pricing for either has yet to be announced, but you can scope out the details of both in the press release below. Jeep® Introduces Two New Special-edition Models at the Los Angeles Auto Show - New 2016 Jeep® Grand Cherokee SRT Night boasts stealth-like premium black appearance, with black roof and lightweight performance wheels - New 2016 Wrangler Backcountry delivers enthusiasts a unique Jeep SUV loaded with off-road capability features to tackle the toughest winter months November 12, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich.
