1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer on 2040-cars
Modesto, California, United States
This wagon was original purchased by a doctor that drove it daily and was parked in his garage nightly. The second owner was his friend which owned a local shop. He used it to pull his boat other wise it was parked in his storage with the boat in his shop. This Wagon has been taken care of its whole life. It is my daily driver and I park it in the garage every night. It even sits in the garage over my new truck. I hate to sell it but its time to part ways. Within two years, less than 10,000 miles: Rebuilt trans, 3" Lift, New tires, oil pump, water pump, thermostat, radiator and power steering pump. About a year ago: The rear window stopped working. The switch in the tailgate stopped working, It was replaced with Military grade switch designed for this application. Within 2 months: New rebuilt OEM carb replacement, new CA cat, air filter, coil, cap, rotor, wires and plugs. Even with the care that was taken with this vehicle it does have some flaws. The wood paneling has a couple small nicks on the driver door and on the rear passenger door. They are only visible when looking for them. The paint is in good shape but does have flaws. The hood had some pearl essence spilled on it as well as the rear bumper, see pics. The interior over all is in great shape. The dash is not cracked and looks good. The leather is in great shape but does show some wear on the driver seat and the driver rear seat, no rips or tears. The headliner is in great shape but does have a 6" snag in the rear. The trans was rebuilt including a new torque converter. The transfer case was pulled and taken apart at the same time. The chain does have very minor play but was recommended to not change anything. When its put into reverse it does smack a little because of the transfer case but does not affect driveability and the 4wd does work. The engine oil pan gasket does have a minor leak. I use synthetic oil and only change it every 3k miles. I never need to add oil between changes. CA buyers make note it will not currently pass an emissions test. Out of state sale preferred for this reason. it is barely not passing due to the unadjustable carb is running slightly rich for california standards. This is a 26 year old vehicle that was well cared for but it has been a daily driver for most of its life, its not perfect. Title in hand and ready to be signed off. $500 due within 48 hours of the winning bid (non refundable) and the remaining balance to be paid in full upon pick up. Shipping is buyers responsibility. I will be willing to work with the buyer as much as possible for pick up. If you have questions please email me and I will respond same day.. |

Hackers arrested after stealing more than 30 Jeeps in Texas
Fri, Aug 5 2016This article has been updated with details on how the thefts were carried out, and with comments from FCA. It seems the news regarding vehicle hacking continues to get worse, especially when it comes to products from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. Last year, a Jeep Cherokee in St. Louis, Missouri, was wirelessly hacked from Pittsburgh. Nissan had to shut down its Leaf app because of vulnerabilities. Now, a pair of hackers in Houston, Texas, stole more than 30 Jeeps over a six-month period. The two were arrested by police last Friday while attempting to steal another vehicle. ABC 13 in Houston reports that police had been following Michael Arcee and Jesse Zelay for several months but were unable to catch them in the act until now. The two were using a laptop to connect to and start a vehicle. The thieves were able to access Fiat Chrysler's own DealerCONNECT software. After entering the vehicle identification number, the hackers were able to reprogram the cars' security systems to accept a generic key, according to The Houston Chronicle. Additionally, Automotive News reports that FCA subsequently updated the terms of use for its DealerCONNECT program. These thefts were not related to the UConnect remote hacks from last year. It was this footage that first led the police to Arcee and Zelay. The police began to follow and record the pair. That investigation eventually led to Friday's arrest. Both are charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. In addition, Arcee is charged with felon in possession of a weapon and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. According to ABC 13, Homeland Security is investigating more than 100 stolen FCA vehicles that they believe were hacked using this method. After their theft, the vehicles were brought across the border to Mexico. FCA is currently conducting an internal investigation into the matter. After this article was posted, the company reached out to Autoblog, stating "FCA US takes the safety and security of its customers seriously and incorporates security features in its vehicles that help to reduce the risk of unauthorized and unlawful access to vehicle systems and wireless communications. FCA US has been cooperating with Houston Police Department since they first started the investigation.
Jeep brings quartet of concepts to Beijing to show its Chinese style
Mon, 21 Apr 2014Jeep is making a big play for the Chinese crossover market at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show. It has a quartet styling concepts for the Renegade, Cherokee and Wrangler that are inspired by Chinese culture at the show.
Among them is the newest member of the Jeep lineup - the Renegade. Its Zi You Xia concept (pictured above) comes from the Mandarin for "rebel," and it's painted in Warm Chocolate Gray with Dark Anodized Bronze trim, including the 20-inch wheels. The roof, grille surround, and mirror caps are done in a complimentary Dark Charcoal color as an accent. The interior is a mix of dark brown leather and Anodized Copper trim. This is one swanky compact crossover.
The Cherokee Sageland and Urbane concepts are meant to show to different sides of Chinese style. With inspiration from the Shangri-La Region, the Sageland has Ivory Pearl tri-coat paint with bronze trim on the outside, and the interior is covered in Gray Nappa leather with red and blue stitching. The Urbane's look comes from the nightlife in the country's cities. The exterior is a color called Maximum Steel with Hyper Black trim. Inside, it combines Piano Black trim with dark red leather seats.
Weekly Recap: Hackers demonstrate auto industry's vulnerability
Sat, Jul 25 2015There's always been a certain risk associated with driving, and this week cyber security came into focus as the latest danger zone when researchers demonstrated how easily they could hack into a 2014 Jeep Cherokee from across the country. The incident raised concerns over the vulnerability of today's cars, many of which double as smartphones and hot spots. During the now-infamous experiment, Chris Valasek and Charlie Miller infiltrated the Jeep's cellular connection and were able to control the infotainment system, brakes, and other functions. The hackers told the Jeep's maker, FCA US, of their findings last year, the company devised a software fix. Though Valesek and Miller hacked a Cherokee (like the one shown above), several FCA products, including recent versions of the Ram, Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango, and Viper were also affected, illustrating potentially wide exposure that could reverberate across the sector. "For the auto industry, this is a very important event and shows that cyber-security protection is needed even sooner than previously planned," Egil Juliussen, senior analyst and research director for IHS Automotive, wrote in a research note. "Five years ago, the auto industry did not consider cyber security as a near-term problem. This view has changed." Hours after the Cherokee hacking incident was publicized on Tuesday, Sens. Ed Markey (D-Mass) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn) introduced legislation to direct the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Federal Trade Commission to establish national standards for automotive cyber security. The bill also would require vehicles to have a cyber-rating system to alert consumers how well their cars' privacy and security are defended. "Drivers shouldn't have to choose between being connected and being protected," Markey said in a statement. "We need clear rules of the road that protect cars from hackers and American families from data trackers." Though FCA and its Jeep Cherokee were in the spotlight this time, they were just the latest to showcase how automotive technology has advanced faster than safety and regulatory measures. IHS forecasts 82.5 million cars will be connected to the internet by 2022, which is more than three times today's level. "Cyber-security will become a major challenge for the auto industry and solutions are long overdue," Juliussen said.
