1986 Jeep Grand Wagoneer! Awesome Shape! on 2040-cars
Bowling Green, Kentucky, United States
I am third owner of this Wagoneer. The first owner had it for about a year and sold it to a gentleman in California who owned it for many years. I bought it from him when he became too ill to to drive it. Since owning it, I had it professionally enhanced with removal of the California restrictive equipment, and general engine rebuild with Quick-fuel tech 4bl carb and Edelbrock top end and air cleaner, Headman ceramic lined headers, new exhaust, aluminum radiator,, electric fan, aluminum washer reservoirs, A/C conversion, and ceramic brakes. I had the front and rear bumpers removed and chromed along with the front grill. The radio has been changed out to an Alpine system with i-pod connectivity and Blue-tooth for telephone. I have installed a remote keyless entry. Power windows and doors all work, the header is new. Basically this is an awesome ride! Again, all work has been professionally done here in Bowling Green (Corvette City) where mechanics take their work seriously. The original speedometer went out around 83k and replaced. I have it with me. The only problem that I have with her is that when we installed the remote keyless entry, evidently we created a parasitic drain on the battery. This is not a problem if you drive it often, but if you don't, I installed a toggle switch under the dash to cut off the circuit. Take a look at "Buttercup" she's a good ride and a lot of fun. I am building a new home and I simply do not have the space to keep her in new location. Otherwise, she has been kept in a climate controlled garage and has no rust.

Here's why you shouldn't try to drift a Jeep Cherokee
Tue, Nov 25 2014This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. There are many reasons why an XJ-generation (or really any other) Jeep Cherokee doesn't make for a good drift machine. It's tall, it's four-wheel-drive... it's a Jeep, okay? But someone apparently forgot to tell that to this guy. Uploaded to LiveLeak, this video shows some poor schmuck who took his Cherokee to a (mostly) empty parking lot and tried to drift it. Needless to say, things didn't go quite as he planned, but they probably went exactly as you might have expected. Thankfully, nobody appears to have been hurt. Or at least, we assume so, since the guy apparently survived to put the video up online.
2016 Jeep Wrangler Backcountry is Xtremely Purple
Wed, Nov 18 2015Assuming you're headed into so-called backcountry to do fun, outdoorsy kinds of things, chances are, you wouldn't want to use a bright purple vehicle with hot pink graphics as your means to get off the beaten path. Particularly if you're doing those outdoor activities in a winter wonderland, surrounded by nature's own cold, white blanket. Fortunately, then, Jeep is offering its new Wrangler Backcountry in four colors that aren't called Xtreme Purple: blue, black, white, and gray. No matter which hue you choose, though, you'll get the graphics package, so best to bear that in mind. Besides its searing shade of paint, the Wrangler Backcountry is based on the Sahara model and comes equipped as you'd expect for a real, useful, backwoods vehicle. An off-road-spec front bumper joins a matching powdercoated rear bumper, and its 17-inch wheels are borrowed from the hardcore Rubicon model. Buyers will have a choice of Rubicon Rock Rails or Sahara side steps to ease ingress and egress, and a hardtop in either black or, for an added price, a body-color. But hopefully not purple. The interior is updated for the Wrangler Backcountry with black and grey plastics and stitching, along with black leather and "sport mesh" seating surfaces. A nine-speaker Alpine sound system pumps up the jams, and Bluetooth comes standard. You can read more about the Jeep Wrangler Backcountry in the press release below, but first, check out our high-res image gallery of live photos from the show floor in LA. Oh, and if you do really like Xtreme Purple, you should know that the Wrangler Backcountry is the only Jeep you can get in this particular retina-assaulting hue. 2016 Jeep Wrangler Backcountry The Jeep Wrangler Backcountry boasts a winter capability theme and is based on the Wrangler Sahara model. It features a Backcountry decal on the front fender and rear quarter panel, a unique off-road front and rear powder coated bumper, 17-inch Rubicon wheels painted in Mid-gloss Black and a black fuel fill door. Wrangler Rubicon rock rails are standard on the Wrangler Backcountry, but Sahara side steps are also available at no additional charge. A black hard top is standard, but an optional body color hard top is also available. Wrangler Backcountry is available in five colors: Hydro Blue, Black, Bright White, Granite Crystal and Xtreme Purple. Backcountry is the only model in Wrangler's lineup available in Xtreme Purple.
