PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU CONSIDER BIDDING ON THIS JEEP

You are bidding on a complete and running unrestored original 1982 Jeep Wagoneer SJ Limited in Jamaica Beige with $4500 of recent mechanical work.

Dear Jeep Lovers and Wagoneer Lovers:

This is an original 1982 Jeep Wagoneer SJ. '82 was the first year it had all the luxury options. All the original features/options work unless otherwise stated below.
The body is "high" miles (not for its age) (199k) but most of that was spent being towed behind an RV.  Then the Jeep sat for many years.   It has a clear Colorado title. This vehicle has spent its entire life in rust-free Northern Colorado and was originally purchased in Greeley, Colorado then registered in LaSalle, CO, then Ault, CO. It has a clean Carfax report which I will be happy to email to you or you can pull one on your own.  It is a daily driver and starts the first time, every time, no matter the weather.  The carpet is in excellent shape with no major tears or holes.  The paint is original with no major rust and no dents unless otherwise stated.  Wheels are original.  Upholstery is original.  A list of what is new (mechanically and cosmetically) is listed below.  Receipts for all the work I have done can be provided.

Remember, this is a 30 year old vehicle.  It will never be perfect unless you do a frame off restoration.  This is an unrestored original which means if something needed to be fixed or replaced, it was done (as you would on any car).  But is was never repainted or removed from the frame to restore in any way.  Recently, an unrestored original Wagoneer sold for $17500 on eBay.  One sold via Craigslist right here in Colorado for $21000.  They are highly desirable and have an amazing following.  This is your chance to buy one knowing exactly what has been done to it and exactly what's left. I have provided below a list of what is wrong with the Jeep still that I have not gotten to yet.  I will do my best to disclose everything down to the last detail.  I will answer every question you have.

WHAT STILL NEEDS TO BE DONE/REPAIRED??
I am still in the process of restoring the Wagoneer to 100% and there is NOT MUCH LEFT to do.  This list may seem long, but I have intentionally included even the smallest issue so there are no surprises.  All of this work is simple and can be done easily.
• Rear springs work fine but need to be replaced to restore original ride height.
• Transmission leaks which has been diagnosed at the front pump seal.  This needs to be repaired and causes the transmission to not want to engage into 1st gear when it is cold.  However this rarely happens and goes away after a few blocks.
• The exterior sweep molding on all 4 doors has been removed because it was dry-rotted from sitting for so long.  These are available for $13 each on line.  I can provide you this information.
• Power mirrors did work until the wires were pulled off during work inside the door panel.  With a schematic, you could solder the connections back on.
• Tires need to be replaced.  Tread is good but they are dry rotted from sitting in storage for so long.
• Two small rust holes behind the rear wheels need repaired
• Upholstery needs redone as stated above
• Radio works but there is a short that cuts off the left speakers occasionally
• The internal door handle mechanisms need to be lubed
• There is a small ding in the hood less than the size of a dime. This is the ONLY dent.  I tried to take a picture of it but it is so small it won't show up in the pictures.  It is smaller than a single hail dent.
• The rear window switch needs to be replaced.  This switch was already purchased and will come with the vehicle.  The window works from the switch on the dash but not with a key from the tailgate.  You will just have to install it.
• There is a small hole in the carpet in the cargo area right near the edge.
• There is a small piece of trim missing on the drivers side rear door (that you wouldn't even notice unless I told you) See pictures.
• The windshield has been sealed with sealant to prevent leaking.  It is barely noticeable.

Email me any and all questions and happy bidding!

Build a Jeep Gladiator 392 next? The Hummer H3T Alpha blazed the trail

Tue, Nov 17 2020

The 2021 Wrangler Rubicon 392 will combine the go-anywhere capability of a Jeep's iconic off-roader with the grunt of a V8 for the first time in decades. As cool as that is, we can't help but think Jeep is missing out on a huge opportunity to pair that 470-horsepower, 6.4-liter Hemi V8 with the Wrangler's pickup cousin, the Jeep Gladiator, in the form of a Mojave 392.Β  Autoblog took part in a media Q&A session with Jeep ahead of the Rubicon 392's announcement in which the company's product higher-ups said that there are currently no official plans to build a 392 variant of the Gladiator pickup. But whether or not Jeep has plans, it certainly has precedent, and from our perspective, a market.Β  Rewind to 2008, better known as one of the worst possible years to introduce a gas-guzzling, V8-powered pickup truck. Enter the 2009 Hummer H3T Alpha, the first variant of Hummer's midsize truck/SUV hybrid to be offered with a 5.3-liter V8. The 300-horsepower small-block was an upgrade to the sturdy but relatively uninspiring 3.7-liter inline-5 that the H3 lineup had inherited from its midsize pickup platform mates.Β  As our Jeremy Korzeniewski noted in the Rubicon 392's introductory piece, an open-top Jeep has not been offered with an optional V8 for as long as the "Wrangler" nameplate has existed. The last Jeep 4x4 to do so was still a CJ, or civilian Jeep, and the 304 cubic-inch engine came from American Motors Corporation. Incidentally, this generation of the Wrangler is also the first to be offered in a pickup variant. Cue the beard-stroking.Β  Now, frankly, it's not even remotely fair to compare the H3T's powertrain offerings to the decade-newer Gladiator's, but the Hummer actually boasts a few advantages over Jeep's modern pickup. While most of the Jeep's off-road specs give it an edge, the Gladiator doesn't come close to the H3T's 30.1-degree departure angle, for instance.Β And in more practical terms, the stubbier H3T has other maneuverability advantages. The Gladiator has 3" of wheelbase and 5" of overall length on the H3T, and a 22.4-foot turning radius to show for it. The Hummer's? Just 18.5'.

AEV Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon

Fri, 28 Feb 2014

After their rented 2007 Hummer H3 failed them during the brutal Rallye Aicha des Gazelles in Morocco, Amy Lerner and her sister Tricia Reina were on a quest to find the most capable production off-roader for their next competition - they chose a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. Their next mission was to find a company with the competence to configure it to win. After poring over Internet forums and perusing countless magazines for an outfitter who could meet their demanding requirements, they sent their bright orange JK ("Crush" is the official color) to American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) for some modifications.
The Michigan-based team at AEV kept the Jeep's 3.6-liter V6 and automatic transmission stock, but replaced the hood with a tall AEV Heat Reduction Hood and added an AEV Snorkel Kit for water crossings (it serves double-duty as its raised height helps to keep the air intake out of the kicked-up dust on the trail). Front and rear off-road bumpers were bolted in place, and AEV skid plates were added to provide additional undercarriage protection. A pair of IPF-900 off-road lights improve visibility, while a 10.2-gallon AEV Fuel Caddy (located behind the exterior spare) added some range. The suspension was upgraded with a 3.5-inch lift kit with Bilstein remote reservoir shocks, and 35-inch Falken Wildpeak A/T tires (LT285/70R17) were mounted at all four corners on AEV's beadlock wheels.
