1978 Jeep Wagoneer. 12,086 ORIGINAL MILES!!!
This truck was originally a west coast truck. In storage for about 25 years in California then sold to someone in New Jersey in 2010. This Jeep remained totally stock until it was shipped to New Jersey. From that point it has had an extensive number of upgrades and add ons that are almost to much to mention. There were approx 8,200 miles on the truck when it arrived in New Jersey in 2010 currently it has just over 12,000 original miles on the odometer. It does remain almost 100% rust free, there are two small spots on the bottom rear wheel arches, one on each side approx 2" diameter(easily fixed). The paint was redone in the past and looks good with only minor dings from it being 35+years old. There is over $8,000 in PARTS alone on this wagoneer since it was purchased in 2010. I currently have well over $5,000 in receipts and many parts on the truck that I don't have a receipt for. It does have Dana 44 axles front and rear and was upgraded to disc brakes on all four wheels using NEW calipers, rotors, and pads. The transfer case was also upgraded to a Dana 300 twin stick. I will also include all the original parts off the truck and other wagoneer parts that I have including(the four original leaf springs, 2 original front seats in good condition, extra door hinges, extra interior and exterior trim pieces, original front spindles and hubs, original front and rear driveshafts, original aircleaner, New chrome transmission pan, original distributer, original fuel pump, used A/C compressor, New A/C compressor clutch, New headlights, original 3 piece bumper, etc.) List of parts and work performed: Dana 300 twin stick transfer case (rebuilt) North West Fab Works cable shifter kit and high steer raised arms Transmission overhauled 1.5 years ago (AMC 400) New 4 wheel disc brakes Front bumper ($995) Custom rear bumper with New highlift jack and full size spare Westin T Max 9500lb winch ($900) New exhaust 1 years ago ($800) 4 New 33x12x17 tires with New 17" Crager wheels Custom driveshafts by Lacey Williams New rear wheel bearings 2 months ago New rear wheel seals 2 months ago New front axle seals 2 months ago Changed front and rear differential oil 2 months ago New Edelbrock performer 1406 carburator and intake SOA lift using NEW stock leaf springs New Super Winch locking hubs New Jeep "extreme" diff covers 3:73 gears with Detroit Lockers front and rear Air horn kit Eddie Bauer heated power leather front seats New aluminum radiator and high flow water pump Timing chain replaced and valve seals replaced New Pioneer DEH-P8400BH CD player with bluetooth New Pioneer 6x9's and door speakers New electric fuel pump New radiator hoses Dynamat type sound deadener on complete floor and roof Converted to electric emergency brake (locks all 4 wheels) New Edelbrock valve covers New manifold gaskets Off road skid plate over gas tank I'm sure I am missing some things I have over 200 pictures of this jeep from the day it arrived in New Jersey till recent. Showing the majority of the work performed along the way. The winch is not included with the truck unless the bidding reaches $8,500 I will include winch for an additional $500 if bidding does not reach $8,500 This Jeep runs and drives great and with all the upgrades its probably better than new. Federal investigations about safety of rear-mounted gas tanks is nothing new
Sun, 09 Jun 2013The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Chrysler are currently making waves in our daily news feeds due to a disagreement over the safety of a few million Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokee models. Specifically, NHTSA has asked Chrysler to recall the SUVs because of the location of their fuel tanks, but you may be interested to know that requests such as this are nothing new.
Besides the two Jeep models, NHTSA has launched investigations over the years in such models as the Ford Crown Victoria (and its police-car counterpart), GM pickups built between 1972 and 1987, and rather famously the Ford Pinto.
Understanding how automakers and NHTSA have dealt with fuel-tank-safety concerns in the past may offer a better understanding of how Chrysler and the government agency will settle their current dispute. Check out the complete article from The Detroit News here.
Jeep's new Chip Away commercial has us hunting Al Pacino's back catalog
Tue, 19 Feb 2013Chrysler has done a pretty good job as of late turning its television commercials into pep talks or rallying cries, but for its first ad for the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, it turned to Al Pacino's inspirational speech from the movie Any Given Sunday. In the movie, Pacino's character talks about how football is a game of inches, but the commercial, titled Chip Away, focuses more on the attention to detail that Jeep has exhibited on its updated flagship SUV.
Centering around the newest Grand Cherokee model, the luxurious $47,995 Summit trim level, the commercial shows off some of the hand-stitched leathers and real metal and wood accents found inside the cabin. Check out the new 60-second spot by scrolling below.
From Maseratis to rental cars | Autoblog Podcast #511
Fri, Apr 7 2017On this week's podcast, Mike Austin and David Gluckman are in a huddle room (again), because the studio was already taken (again). We talk about the all-wheel-drive Dodge Challenger GT (again), as well as the Jeep Wrangler, Maserati Levante, Miata RF (again), and then David waxes poetic on mediocre rental cars (or similar). The episode wraps up with the traditional doling out of Spend My Money buying advice, with some input from an S2000 owner on advice discussed last time. The rundown is below. Remember, if you have a car-related question you'd like us to answer or you want buying advice of your very own, send a message or a voice memo to podcast at autoblog dot com. (If you record audio of a question with your phone and get it to us, you could hear your very own voice on the podcast. Neat, right?) And if you have other questions or comments, please send those too.
