1977 Wagoneer in original condition. Original paint, Original interior.

These 1970's pre-woody style Wagoneers are becoming increasingly hard to find in good unrestored condition. This one is classic 1970's model with its Tawny Orange exterior and Brampton Plaid fabric seats. Nice original wood grain molding on the side is not faded and still looks good. The paint is original with the expected nicks and small scraps that one might expect on a car that's 36 years old with original paint. As you can see from the photos it shows extremely well (we had it professionally detailed to bring out the shine in the paint). There are small areas of paint bubbling behind each of the rear wheels that is a easy fix if one chooses (see photos). Chrome is nice and shiny. Glass is good.

We have installed a new headliner. The carpet is original, along with the seat fabric. Small area of wear on the vinyl drivers seat and small tear in vinyl on drivers door panel.  Dash is good with no cracks or damage. Steering wheel is nice and clean with no wear. Radio is premium AM/FM stereo and works great. Clock works most of the time. AC needs charged (compressor turns). Reliable factory manual rear window crank works flawlessly unlike the power tailgate window in most of the Wagoneers that is either broke or will break. Tires are nearly new. Transmission shifts smooth and the engine seems to run strong. Have service records from the last few years. Some options include cruise control, tilt wheel, clock, stereo radio, premium fabric, roof rack, AC, Quadra-Trac full-time 4 wheel drive.

After looking at a factory brochure for the 1977 Wagoneer it appears this Jeep had almost every option available that year. I have tried to photograph the Wagoneer as well as I can so you can see the condition and how nice it is. I also tried to mention any issue, no matter how small so you know what your are buying. It really does look as good as the photos would suggest in person but keep in mind it is 36 years old and cars were not nearly as refine back then. This Jeep was designed in 1963 by Brooks Stevens and is a classic and will only get more valuable, especially in original condition. I get comments from everyone and lots of smiles. We hate to sell it but we need the room.

Instead of doing an auction I have set a Buy It Now price. Deposit is due at time of purchase and balance in cash or agreed upon form of payment is due at delivery or within 5 days. I will work with your transport company to ensure a smooth delivery but it is totally at the buyers cost. Pickup or delivery of vehicle shall be within 30 days. There will be a daily storage fee of $20 after 30 days. We are located in Central Illinois about 3 hours south of Chicago or 3 north of St. Louis.

Check my Ebay feedback and history. You will see I have been doing this for a long time with lots of happy buyers.

2015 Jeep Renegade Sport 4x4 Quick Spin [w/video]

Tue, Jun 23 2015

Which is the most entertaining Jeep Renegade you can get? While one might make an argument for the Trailhawk model and its accompanying off-road hardware and consequential go-anywhere ability, that car comes with one glaring flaw – its 2.4-liter engine and nine-speed automatic transmission just aren't very entertaining. Instead, I submit the turbocharged, 1.4-liter base engine and its accompanying six-speed manual, a position that was reinforced after a recent stint behind the wheel of a very basic Sport 4x4. Not only do you get a fair amount of the Trailhawk's off-road ability – the Selec-Terrain system and a 4WD Lock mode are standard, but you'll be without the 20:1 crawl ratio and Rock off-road mode – you'll also enjoy a more dynamically interesting powertrain. Read on to see why the force-induced Renegade might just be the way to go. Driving Notes My first date with the Renegade was on the mostly empty, winding roads of northern California. There, the 1.4-liter turbocharged inline-four with 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque felt fine – with no traffic and few stoplights along the drive route, it was easy to keep the engine on boil. But this engine isn't as enjoyable in day-to-day suburban traffic. Power arrives suddenly – peak torque comes between 2,500 and 4,000 rpm – and if you don't use it, you lose it. There's not much oomph in the higher end of the rev range. With such a peaky powerband, it's easy to get caught flat-footed if you're not paying attention. Thankfully the manual transmission makes it simple to stay engaged and in the correct gear. The stick-shift is enjoyable to use, with a firm clutch that's easy to modulate and shift action that isn't sloppy or vague. The 1.4-liter engine sounds good. Turn down the stereo, stomp on the throttle, and you'll be treated to a delicious turbo whistle and a smooth exhaust note. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I want Mopar to offer the Fiat 500 Abarth's exhaust on the Renegade. It'd be fun. If you do prefer the stereo, know that the Renegade's standard four-speaker unit is weak. Base models don't offer Bluetooth or satellite radio, but you can add both of those luxuries, two extra speakers, and a five-inch touchscreen for just $695. Not a bad bargain. The Koni frequency selective dampers do an excellent job of managing both small, frequent imperfections (like freeway expansion joints), and the bigger potholes that still haven't been fixed after the havoc of Detroit's winter.

Jeep Grand Cherokee in headliner fire probe

Fri, 23 Aug 2013

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is launching an investigation into 146,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs from the 2012 model year, The Detroit News reports. This comes as the result of the government safety agency receiving three complaints from owners who cited fires inside the Jeep's cabin.
According to the report, NHTSA says:
"The customers reported a burning odor and visible smoke coming from the headliner while the vehicle was being driven. This was followed by flames from the headliner itself. Customers lowered the windows in an effort to clear the smoke but this increased the fire's intensity. All three vehicles had to be extinguished with a fire extinguisher or by the fire department as they continued to burn after the vehicle was turned off."

Jeep Chief and Wrangler Red Rock Responder teased ahead of Easter Jeep Safari

Thu, Mar 12 2015

Jeep is being coy about it's lineup for the 2015 Moab Easter Jeep Safari, releasing just a pair of shots and an exceptionally brief press release on two of the seven concepts coming to the desert later this month. So, what can we glean from the limited assets that have been given to us? Well, as we said, we know Jeep is bringing seven vehicles to its big festival. We also know the names of two vehicles, shown above – there's the Chief and the Wrangler Red Rock Responder. Which is which? A fair question. We're betting the second image is the Wrangler-based Red Rock Responder. As for the Chief, well, we've absolutely no idea what to expect there. Jeep's Moab concepts generally include the model name on which their based – see the Grand Cherokee Trail Warrior and Cherokee Dakar from last year, or even the Wrangler Red Rock Responder, mentioned above. There's no such moniker on the Chief. As for the Chief's illustrated teaser image, as we said, it doesn't reveal much. The body is angular, and quite Jeep like, with squared-off wheel arches and decidedly old-school taillights. Beyond that, though, we don't have much to go on. Expect much more not just on the Chief and Red Rock Responder, but on all seven of the concepts Jeep is bringing to Moab. The party starts on March 28 and runs until April 5. Be sure to check back then for full coverage. Related Video:
