This is a classic Grand Wagoneer woody in white with tan interior. She's a beaute!
The good: starts, idles, runs, and drives great. Lots of investment in the engine and maintenance performed on the vehicle. New tires, Warn locking hubs in front, new a/c, Left and right manifold gasket sets, wheel bearing repacks, Distributor, Distributor drive gear set, HEI ignition, 4-barrel carburetor, Starter and started solenoid, Fan clutch, Timing chain set, Oil pump gear set, Water pump, Numerous belts, etc. I have receipts for all of the work that has recently been done to it. The bad: needs the emissions control system (smog pump, diverter valves, air tubes, etc.) and catalytic converter. It will not pass Colorado emissions as is. Driver side, rear electronic door lock and electronic window do not work. Cruise control doesn't work. I bought this truck for my wife's birthday and then discovered "the bad" above. While it pains me to sell it, its what we have to do, as I don't have the time (nor mechanical skills) to get this truck to pass Colorado emissions. It would be a great truck for someone that lives in an area that doesn't require emissions testing! Or it will be great for someone who has the time and skills to get her up to snuff with emissions! Jeep Liberty replacement takes shape
Wed, 16 Jan 2013Now that the Liberty has left us for greener pastures, it's time to start looking into the future of the midsize Jeep model. The next all-new vehicle for the off-road brand will be the SUV you see here, effectively replacing the Liberty, and not necessarily carrying on with that name.
From the sides, the prototype you see here sort of looks like a miniature version of the handsome Grand Cherokee, albeit with a bit more in the way of body sculpting. Up front, the seven-slat grille will be front and center, with completely revised headlamp designs that are reportedly angular and sweep well into the front fenders (you can sort of see what we're talking about in the side profile). That doesn't sound very Jeep-like, but we'll reserve judgment until we, you know, see the thing.
The bigger question with the Liberty replacement will be whether or not its off-road chops will be up to snuff. After all, the two previous generations of Liberty models were body-on-frame traditional SUVs, whereas this new Jeep rides on a larger version of the Dodge Dart platform.

25,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango SUVs recalled over brake feel
Mon, 10 Mar 2014Chrysler has announced that it is recalling over 25,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs from several markets over concerns about brake feel under hard braking. The affected models are from the 2012 and 2013 model years, although the actual dates of production aren't available. 18,700 are in the US, while 825 are in Canada, 530 are in Mexico and a further 5,200 outside of North America.
According to a statement, Chrysler was informed of the issue by a component supplier for the Ready Alert Braking system, which primes the brakes in anticipation of an emergency stop. A component in the system was restricting the flow of brake fluid too much.
As Chrysler is quick to point out, the way the brakes functioned was in compliance with regulations and there are no reported cases of drivers losing braking power. Instead, the issue rests with what Chrysler calls a pedal feel that "was not consistent with customer expectations." So it would seem Chrysler is being proactive and fixing a problem not because there's a legal issue at work, but simply because it doesn't feel the way the manufacturer wants it to. Well done.
