Jeep: Cj Cj-5 Renegade 1979. 4" Lift, Roll-cage, Warn Winch, 33" Michelin Atx, on 2040-cars
Charlotte, North Carolina, United States
No Reserve Auction! Serious Bidders Only! Please. 1979 Jeep Cj-5 Renegade edition. This is a true AMC survivor with 75.5K miles. It has a 258 in-line six and a 3-speed manual transmission. Off-Road equipped with a four inch suspension lift, full roll-cage, vintage Warn 8274 winch, four 33" Michelin ATX tires mounted on rare American Racing Gambler rims. The spare is original to the Jeep. The high-backed seats, Bestop, and five point racing harnesses were installed by the previous owner around 1993 and they show their age. The driver's side seat is badly torn and needs a cover. The after-market top may have lead to the water collecting on the driver's side where the rust is worse. The roll-cage needs to be re-attached on the front left. I purched the Jeep in 2000 from a fraternity brother who had it @ Appilachian State University. He but new tires on it to sell it and I have managed to put just over 3,000 miles on it since then. I had the clutch rebuilt right before I stopped driving it regularly. I kept it running until 2009 when the brown rusty water started pouring out and it was overheating. Thanks to my father and a reconditioned battery we got her running again. I drove her around the block and backed her in, but not before she started running hot! She starts and runs but will need to be trailered. It has been parked under the cover of shade trees and can't even be seen on Google Earth! I hate to let her go, but we are expecting our second child soon and we are in need of something more family friendly. Happy Bidding!
An immediate deposit (non-refundable) of $500.00 is due via Paypal immediately (within 24 hours) after end of auction. The remaining balance is due before Pick-up via cash, cashiers's check or money order within seven days. Bidders with less than five feedback must contact me prior to end of auction. I reserve the right to cancel the transaction and re-list the vehivle if the above conditions have not been met. |

Best cars for snow and ice in 2023 and 2024
Tue, Jan 23 2024What's the best car for snow? The real answer is "the one with winter tires." What do we mean by that? You could have the finest, most advanced all-wheel-drive system or four-wheel drive in the world, but if you're running all-seasons (the spork of tires), your fancy four-wheeler won't matter much. The odds are, any vehicle on the road running good winter tires will probably perform adequately in slippery, slushy and/or snowy road conditions. (Here's a more complete explanation of why winter tires are totally worth it). In other words, you don't really need any of the cars on this list. With a set of winter tires, countless others will do the job, and even these will be at their best with proper rubber. You can find a variety of winter tires for your car here at Tire Rack. Keep in mind that you will need a full set of four snow tires for safety and performance, no matter what you're driving. The days of your dad putting just two snows on the family truckster to get it moving in a straight line are long gone. Don't get us wrong, getting a car that performs well in snow and ice is still a worthy criteria for car buyers. According to the U.S. Transportation Department, 70% of Americans live in places that get snow and ice. And much of the country has been blasted with arctic air for much of the new year. So let's look at the cars. First, we're highlighting choices for a variety of buyers and price points. Second, we're not just considering snow; we're considering general wintery conditions people will experience driving to work or school. As such, these are all choices with advanced all-wheel-drive systems, usually with "torque-vectoring" systems that not only automatically shunt power front and back, but side to side between the rear axles. Most have extra ground clearance for getting through deep snow, and we prefer those vehicles with more responsive steering, throttles and transmissions that provide a greater sense of vehicle control in slippery conditions. Acura RDX Read our Acura RDX Review Acura's Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive system was one of the first to offer torque-vectoring, and besides often being touted for its ability to greatly enhanced dry-road handling, its benefits in the slick stuff can be profound. It's actually surprising that Acura hasn't leaned into this capability further by offering more rugged versions of its vehicles.
2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Wed, 23 Oct 2013Jeep appears to have nailed it this time. After two decades of assembling its Grand Cherokee sport utility vehicle, the American automaker has finally delivered a world-class off-roader capable of taking on everything in its segment - and more - with a high likelihood of coming out on top.
And if you drove last year's model, it's time to climb behind the wheel again as Jeep has significantly updated the SUV for 2014 with a bold new exterior appearance, an upgraded interior with enhanced electronics and a new transmission that completely transforms the way it drives.
We recently spent a full week with a dark blue 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4x4, a well-optioned model fitted with the standard gasoline-fed V6. While it didn't have the punch of the range-topping V8-powered SRT8, or the fuel-sipping economy of its new EcoDiesel sibling, the high-volume variant left us quite impressed.
Chrysler investigating complaints of vehicles with faulty power modules
Sun, 24 Aug 2014Chrysler owners are hopping mad after experiencing a series of electrical gremlins in some of the company's vehicles. Issues range from mere annoyances - windows rolling down and radios turning off of their own accord - to serious safety issues, with headlights that randomly shut off at night and cars that stall and refuse to start.
The issues are being blamed on the total integrated power module, which can cost up to $1,000 for customers to replace. This, of course, has led to a hefty batch of complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, with 240 owners expressing their displeasure so far. Another site, CarComplaints.com, has registered over 300 complaints relating to the 2010 to 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango, alone, according to The New York Times.
Chrysler has acknowledged that it's investigating the complaints and is analyzing the faulty TIPMs, but that isn't quite enough for customers of the affected vehicles. The newspaper has snagged a few of the more harrowing tales with the electrically challenged Chrysler products, culled from the NHTSA complaints.
