2005 JEEP Liberty Limited CRD 2.8 Diesel

For sale is a well cared for 2005 Liberty Diesel. It has a 2" lift kit (Frankenlift OME 790 HD a CRD Rated) with 245/75/16 tires. Not an over the top lift but just enough to give it the good ground clearance for rough country or lease roads. Yet, the lift is minimal enough to maintain a factory ride. It has 6 disc satellite radio (the satellite radio had been fully activated as long as I've owned it, I've never had to pay for radio service and cannot guarantee how long it will stay activated). It has 4 brand new matching BFG all terrain tires with currently less than 1,500 miles on them. The spare tire matches and is in like condition. It has leather interior with all the options available at the time aside from heated seats. It does have a block heater, husky cargo liner and front floor mats, tinted windows, 5 custom KMC matching black alloy rims with active TPMS, includes spare. The vehicle is used, it's very clean but is still used and shows expected signs of such. It does show some minor nicks or stains of the interior and some rock chips on the front bumper and hood (Some spots in the pictures are bugs or dirt which will wash off, my apologies). Even with the lift and larger tires (approx. 31" tires) the Jeep still gets 20-24mpg around town and 26-30mpg - Impressive! The lift kit, water pump, and timing belt were performed by the previous owner.

Note: I work out of state and used this vehicle primarily traveling over the road for work. The vehicle currently has 151,440 miles. Up until last week when I was provided a company vehicle, I used this vehicle quiet a bit. I depended on it and utilized my mileage per diem to maintain the vehicle in the best possible condition. Over the last several months / weeks I have managed to spend quiet a bit (over $6,500) on preventive maintenance as I was planning to continue using it. I will provide receipts and service records for such. Below is a list of the recent repairs/service within last 5 months:
  • New upper and lower ball joints and control arms
  • Rebuilt front differential w/ new stub axel
  • New front CV joint / drive axles
  • New Front drive shaft (fabricated to eliminate the commonly faulty issues with the factory shaft ends)
  • Injector service and ring replacement
  • New gel cell battery
  • Four new BFG 10ply all terrain tires (raised white letters turned in) with currently less than 1,500 miles
  • New power steering pump and hoses
  • New transmission cooler unit and hoses

I know these diesel liberty's are rare but there are a few of them out there to choose from. However, it may not be likely that these types of service have yet been performed, and they can be rather costly. This vehicle has been very dependable, however, I cannot guarantee or warranty this vehicle beyond the time of purchase, but I can provide evidence of the service records. I can guarantee it to be in good running condition at time of purchase.

Known issues:
  • The plastic front bumper was damaged at some point with the previous owner and repainted. It matches but does show some minor chipping or flaking (Some spots in the pictures are bugs or dirt which will wash off, like under the passenger side turn signal, my apologies). I could not find any evidence of body work to any of the sheet metal or on any car fax report.
  • The drain plug on the aluminum oil pan was stripped when I let a shop change my oil a couple of times back. The replacement oil pan is rather costly. I currently use an aftermarket interference fit plug with no leaks or problems. A more permanent fix would be to drill it out with a 41/64" bit and tap it with a 18mm-1.5 right hand thread. Then install a Fumoto F-104 quarter turn drain valve. This would still be protected by the skid plate and you'd never again be at risk of stripping the aluminum. This would cost less than $60 for the bit, tap, and valve. I can perform this for an additional charge or you can continue using the interference fit plug and being careful not to over tighten.

Buyer is responsible for transport or shipping. $500 deposit due with 48 hours of sale agreement. Must pay balance in full within 7 days.

I may deliver the vehicle in the lower 48 states for an agreed upon fee.

Best pickup trucks for 2023

Wed, Mar 29 2023

In 2023, it seems like there’s a pickup truck for everyone. This wasnÂ’t always the case, as it wasnÂ’t until fairly recently that the midsize truck segment started becoming competitive again, and even more recently that weÂ’ve got choices for economical compact trucks or cleaner electric pickups. As the diversity of choices continues to grow, so does the potential customer base for vehicles with an open bed. Whether youÂ’re looking for something luxurious to drive in style, an absolute workhorse to tow the heaviest of loads, something small and practical, or a dune-blasting monster, youÂ’ve got options. Whatever it is you need it to do, here are what we think are the best pickup trucks for 2023. Before we start really categorizing these trucks, let's go over the scores our editors have given the best-selling pickup trucks in America. Best Full-Size Pickup Trucks for 2023: 2023 Ram 1500: 9.0 2023 Ford F-150: 8.5 2023 GMC Sierra: 8.0 2023 Chevrolet Silverado: 7.5 2023 Toyota Tundra: 7.0 2023 Nissan Titan: 5.5 Best Midsize Pickup Trucks for 2023: 2023 Ford Ranger: 8.0 2023 Honda Ridgeline: 8.0 2023 Jeep Gladiator: 8.0 2023 Nissan Frontier: 7.5 2023 Toyota Tacoma: 7.0 It's worth noting that the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon were redesigned for 2023, and we like them quite a bit. We haven't yet been able to pass them around to all of our editors in order to give them official rankings, but we're certain they'll come out at or near the top. Now, remember what we said at the outset about there being a pickup truck for every buyer? Let's break it down.   Best luxury truck: Ram 1500 Limited With an exceptionally comfortable interior with high-quality materials, excellent fit and finish, plenty of space, useful technology and a wealth of convenience features, this is the cabin in which weÂ’d want to spend the most time. We especially like touches like the ventilated reclining back seat, clever storage and 12-inch vertically oriented touchscreen. All the American trucks can be ultra-luxurious, though. What really seals the deal for Ram is its choice of either coil spring or air spring rear suspension that provide unmatched ride quality, no matter which you choose. The 1500 Limited will truly keep you feeling kingly on those long hauls. Read our review of the Ram 1500.   Best truck for cowboys: Ford F-150 King Ranch (Honorable mention: Ram 1500 Limited Longhorn) Need a truck to match those new cowboy boots and shiny belt buckle?

Jeep delivers basketful of concepts for the Moab Easter Jeep Safari

Tue, Mar 20 2018

It's Easter time, and that means it's time for the 52nd Annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari, held March 24 through April 1, where thousands of off-roaders crawl, scrape and scramble over the rugged trails of Moab, Utah. And that brings us to this year's colorful collection of Jeep concepts, custom-built by FCA for the occasion. Jeep Wagoneer Roadtrip View 7 Photos This year there are seven Easter treats — including one called Wagoneer and one called Jeepster. All are decked out in Mopar parts. (Mopar already has 200-plus parts and counting for the all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler.) Here then, is this year's Easter pageant of Jeeps: Jeep 4SPEED This year's lightweight concept is meant to bolster off-road performance through extensive weight savings. It's powered by the all-new 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 engine with an eight-speed automatic. Carbon fiber abounds — the stuff is used for the hood, fender flares and the rear tub, which also features aluminum perforated panels. It gets an "aggressively swept back" look via raked windshield, longer door openings and a custom cage. It's also 22 inches shorter with improved approach and departure angles, though the wheelbase remains unchanged. And it gets Dana 44 front and rear axles with a 4.10 gear ratio and 18-inch lightweight monoblock wheels with 35-inch tires. Inside, there's a custom instrument panel, custom seats and deleted back seats. Footwells are perforated aluminum. The 4SPEED is so much lighter than stock, it rides two inches higher. Jeep Sandstorm This one's inspired by Baja desert racers but can still be used as a daily driver. It gets an extreme-duty suspension system capable of both tasks. The front axle has been moved forward four inches and takes a heavy-duty longarm four-link suspension and track bar. The rear axle has been moved back two inches and gets a triangulated trailing arm four-link suspension. The longer wheelbase provides better high-speed stability. The front wheels — 39.5-inch tires on 17-inch beadlock wheels — get custom coilovers and bypass shocks that allow 14 inches of travel in front and 18 in back. It gets Baja styling cues such as a vented carbon fiber hood, vented high-clearance fender flares and a cage with lay-down spare tire carrier. There are no exterior door handles, and the rear doors have been chopped.

Abandoned Jeep found under twenty feet of snow in Donner Pass

Tue, Mar 14 2017

You guys have heard of Donner Pass, right? The dreaded mountain pass in the northern Sierra Nevadas out in California where an ill-fated group of mid-19th century pioneers got lost and fell to cannibalism to survive? Of course you have. Well, it seems that the pass has claimed another victim. It's not a pack of overly-optimistic farmers from Illinois this time, but a sad and lonely Jeep Cherokee. Last Thursday, the California Highway Patrol base at Truckee, California, posted a picture of the rear end of a forlorn-looking XJ with a mangled rear end buried under a veritable mountain of snow and ice. Discovered by a CalTrans truck-mounted snowblower around Serene Lakes near Donner Summit, a CHP representative told Jalopnik they believe the old white XJ has been sitting there since the beginning of winter. More than twenty feet of snow and ice are piled atop the Jeep, a winter's worth of snowplow leavings. Thankfully, the CHP found no bodies or anything else untoward in the XJ when they were arrived. CHP Truckee suggested that the Jeep's owner left it there, perhaps after a breakdown, and left it when successive layers of snow and ice entombed it. Since it's not blocking traffic and doesn't pose a safety hazard, CalTrans decided to leave the Jeep where they found it. The XJ's owner hasn't been identified yet. Hopefully they're not in too much of a hurry to get their Jeep back, because that thing isn't moving until late spring at the earliest.
