2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 on 2040-cars
Altoona, Pennsylvania, United States
2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO I bought this jeep about a year ago as a reconstructed vehicle. I bought it with 54k on it and it now has 61k which will change I drive it daily. it is a good looking and very clean suv with great low miles. I have had no issues with it at all. the keyless entry remote is broke it works every now and then but it has a few lose or broken connections in it. the drive train seems to be fine it drives straight and rides smooth. it gets on avg. 18 mpg new tires and maintained every 3500 miles the body is in good shape with the exception of one dent above the driver side back door that is the size of a quarter, and some scuffs on the bottom of the front bumper. no rips or tears in side carpet is in good shape and everything is intact and works as it should. this is a RECONSTRUCTED jeep. it has a PA RECONSTRUCTED VEHICLE TITLE. THIS JEEP HAS ALREAD BEEN REBUILT AND IT HAS ALREADY BEEN INSPECTED
I had a few questions about why did the insurance company TOTAL LOSS (salvage) the jeep. I don't know for sure. what I was told was that it was deer damage. as too what all was wrong with it I don't know. I bought it over a year after it was reconstructed. all I know for sure is what the history report says and it doesn't go into detail. I was told the driver hit a deer the ins company wrote it off the salvage company bought it sold it to a repair shop they then sold it to the guy I bought it from. he put 10k on it and I put 6k on it after reconstruction. it is a nice jeep and runs good the only reason I am selling is that I have a few atvs and this vehicle is not big enough to haul them so I am going to get a truck.
any other questions ask and I will tell you what I know

2016 Jeep Wrangler to ditch solid axles to save weight?
Tue, 29 Oct 2013Hey, Jeep fans. If you think the idea of a funky-looking, car-based Cherokee revival is offensive, have a listen to what might be in store for the next-gen Jeep Wrangler. Automotive News is reporting that as Jeep develops the 2016 Wrangler, weight reduction is a crucial target, and the Wrangler's rugged solid axles could be sacrificed in the name of better fuel economy.
We've already heard the next Wrangler will go on a serious diet using aluminum body panels and an air suspension system, so the idea of a four-wheel independent suspension setup for this OG SUV isn't all that surprising. Besides, it's not like an independent suspension would limit the Wrangler's off-road abilities - just check out the Hummer H1. In fact, it might be the aftermarket parts companies - not Wrangler enthusiasts - who would be most disappointed by such a drastic suspension change, as the article states that the Wrangler's solid axles and coil-link suspension make it the most popular SUV for customization.
There are probably still a couple years before we'll start hearing any concrete details about the 2016 Wrangler, at which time it will be interesting to see how stricter fuel economy and crash safety regulations have been balanced with traditional Wrangler cues like its removable doors and roof and folding windshield. Let us know in the comments below if a Wrangler sans solid axles is any less of a Wrangler.
100,000 Jeep Cherokee models subject to further 9-speed recalibration
Thu, 29 May 2014It seems that the software problems with the nine-speed automatic gearbox in the Jeep Cherokee continue to mount. The programming already caused multiple development delays and even postponed the Cherokee's market launch by roughly two months. Now, Jeep has issued another recalibration to hopefully assuage unhappy drivers.
According to Automotive News, this reflash for the allegedly jerky transmission covers over 100,000 Cherokees built before May 5, but it's not technically a recall. If owners are having problems and complain to the dealer, they get the new software. Otherwise, they continue with the current version. New vehicles on dealer lots also receive the latest revision to the programming. It takes only around five minutes to install, but technicians need to take the Cherokee on a test drive to adapt the gearbox to the changes.
The Cherokee's transmission software has been problematic practically since the beginning. The Jeep plant in Toledo, OH, briefly idled its second-shift workers last year to take care of the issue. Since the launch issues for the crossover, demand has been strong. Jeep added another 1,000 temporary workers to the Toledo factory to keep up, and sales were on par with the Wrangler in just its first two months.
This SEMA special drag race is absurdly awesome
Fri, Dec 5 2014The SEMA Show came and went last month, and it showed us a ton of heavily modded goodies to dream about during the long, cold winter. The Motor Trend Channel on YouTube is keeping the party rolling a little longer, though, with a drag race inspired by the aftermarket event. All of the hosts were supposed to borrow a vehicle from the show for the big race, but only two of them actually cajoled companies into lending their wares. Still, the result includes four very cool and extremely different examples of the breadth of the automotive hobby. First up, there's a 1955 Chevrolet with a 535-cubic-inch (8.8-liter) Hemi V8 stuffed under the hood. Appropriately, it's dubbed the Blasphemi, and with skinny tires up front, fat rubber in the rear and a stripped interior, this this is made to go very fast in a straight line. Next, there's a stock Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat boasting 707 horsepower. Plus, host Jessi Lang has her dog riding shotgun for the race. A Chevy Sonic RS with some body mods, downpipe and intake is also competing. Finally, the most bizarre of the quartet is a custom 1958 Jeep Forward Control with a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 and treads to replace the wheels. Obviously, the Blasphemi and Hellcat are the only two that really have a chance of winning, but check out the video to see which one crosses the finish line first.
