History:

I am the original owner of this Jeep, which was bought off the showroom floor in Canada. The only difference between this model and the US model, is the daytime running lights (the US version are off, these are on - they can be programmed off).

I've kept this vehicle in good condition, only myself and my wife used it. It has almost exclusively been under cover, so the internal upholstery is in very good condition.

Now I don't get to use it (I have two other vehicles), so it’s up for sale.

Condition:

The interior is in excellent condition except for some leather cracking on the left hand side skirt of the driver’s seat. The sunroof has a small stain, since the sunroof was cracked open when it went through he car wash. The roof does not leak.

Carpets are original and are in very good condition. I used rubber mats for many years, which are thrown in. I put a steering wheel cover on it since the original leather seemed to lose some grip, and was a bit twisted. But still in good condition.

Externally, after 13 years, naturally there were some mall scratches, so i decided to have it repainted (thinking i would keep it). Same color.

There has been some bumper damage on the rear drivers bumper. (I have exact touch up paint).

Tires are all in good condition, two new tires recently fitted. New battery July 14.

Features:

This Jeep was fully loaded. It came off the showroom floor. I had the stock radio removed (which includes a 6x CD changer), and had a Clarion multipurpose deck installed. This includes CD player, USB player (mp3), satnav navigation, backup camera, Sirrius ready, Pandora, iPod interface. All of this is controlled through the steering wheel controls.

I also have the old stock head that is included.

Questions and Answers:

1 The description says 123,000 miles and the odometer says 198,000. Which is correct???

Answer: The Jeep has 198,000km which is 123,000 miles.
Even the records of maintenance are reported in miles (taken off the odometer), but in fact they are km.

2. Hi there. I am interested in your Jeep and live in the galleria area, so very close to you. Would it be possible to see the vehicle in person?

The vehicle is available for view and test drive. I live close to Kirby Drive and Highway 59, Houston.

Send me a message if you want to view/drive.

I have a couple of questions:

1. the Limited models had the body colored grille and it was the Laredo model that had the chrome, why was yours replaced with the incorrect chrome one made for the Laredo?

Answer: Correct, after the Jeep was resprayed, I decided to update the front grill to a chrome type. The original one was "cut out" with a box knife and the new plastic one was fitted. Invoice available.

2. Makes me wonder if it were in an accident?

Answer: No, the grill was not replaced due to an accident.

3. Also, has the rear been hit or repainted?

Answer: Yes, a long time ago a young nurse bumped into the back of me while I was stationary. She hit the tow bar. No damage to the car etc But yes, later (about 15 months ago, I had the car resprayed as i described. I did not go all out; it would have been pointless to spend 7-10k on a paint job, thereby exceeding the price of the car. I think the paint job cost me $3-4,000 so you can understand, the paint job cost more than the car!

4. The emblem that states QUADRA DRIVE is on the wrong side, it is to be under the JEEP emblem on the rear hatch not under the V8?

Answer: well spotted!

5. So all of this makes me wonder if it has been wrecked and a sloppy or cheap job of redoing it.....Let me know

Answer: No, it was never wrecked

Can you tell me more about the new deck that was fitted:

Answer: The deck is a Clarion NZ503. The NZ503 is an all-in-one solution offering touch panel car navigation, Bluetooth hands-free telephone, Bluetooth audio streaming in stereo, interactive GUI with flick operation and DVD/CD enjoyment, plus music/movie playback from your iPod, iPhone as well as other USB or auxillary connected devices.

Cost paid $695.00

Clarification:

The front lights are not original.

These lights were fitted because the existing lights were faded, and I wanted to have an updated look to the Jeep.

Why Mopar won't release a factory lift kit for the new Jeep Cherokee

Thu, 24 Apr 2014

The Jeep Cherokee Dakar concept showed off at the 2014 Easter Jeep Safari made a lot of online friends, even the Cherokee naysayers assenting that there's a monster Jeep underneath the Cherokee's skin if you're willing to go in and get it. But after reading Road & Track's write-up of what went into creating the Dakar, particularly its lift, you'll understand why you'll probably never see the components for it in the Jeep Performance Parts catalog.
The concept's press release mentions a "prototype Jeep Performance Parts lift kit, and additional suspension modifications." The short-story explanation is that the front struts on the standard Cherokee weren't engineered to accept any amount of lift, so the long story begins with the phrase, "an entirely new suspension." Head over to RT to read the details, and don't be afraid to ogle the Cherokee Dakar gallery and another awesome Jeep fancy that won't likely crawl over the hurdles imposed by production reality.

FCA plants skipping summer shutdown to keep up with demand

Thu, May 14 2015

Hopefully, some FCA US factory employees don't have big plans for the usual summer shutdown, because the automaker is keeping several plants running this year. Demand is so high that the company wants to keep models rolling off the assembly lines. Four FCA US assembly plants, all the engine factories, and some locations that build transmissions are staying open throughout the summer, according to the Detroit Free Press. Usually, these sites would see a two-week shutdown for the company to retool and perform repairs. This year, factories are staying open for FCA to support its strong sales. The lines that remaining humming through the summer show an inclination toward the automaker's popular SUV's and crossovers. They include the Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Michigan that builds the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango; Saltillo Van Assembly in Mexico that constructs the Ram ProMaster; Toledo Assembly Complex in Ohio that produces the Cherokee and Wrangler; and Toluca Assembly in Mexico that makes the Dodge Journey and Fiat 500. Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango still catching fire after recall

Thu, May 7 2015

Automakers issue recalls all the time. It's part of the cost of doing business. We just assume that once the recall has been carried out, the problem in question has been fixed. But that's not always the case, as this latest investigation being undertaken by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration goes to show. The problem stems back to a recall issued by Chrysler last summer. It revolved rather the sun visor in the SUVs it makes at its Jefferson North Assembly Plant – specifically, the screw affixing the sun visor could end up rubbing against the wiring for the lamp in the vanity mirror, potentially causing an electrical short and even a fire. 62 such short circuits, 38 fires and three injuries reported, prompting Chrysler to recall nearly 900,000 units of the 2011-2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango (over 650,000 of them in the United States). The plastic spacers they installed to rectify the problem, however, may not have done the trick. Eight reports (but none involving injuries) have been filed with the NHTSA regarding the same issue recurring, spurring the government agency to open a new investigation into the matter. If deemed necessary, the NHTSA could ask FCA to issue another recall to fix the issue again, which we may necessitate the installation of a fuze to prevent any such the electric short. Related Video: INVESTIGATION Subject : Headliner Fires Date Investigation Opened: MAY 01, 2015 Date Investigation Closed: Open NHTSA Action Number: RQ15003 Component(s): ELECTRICAL SYSTEM , INTERIOR LIGHTING Manufacturer: Chrysler (FCA US LLC) SUMMARY: On July 1st, 2014 Chrysler (FCA US LLC) issued safety recall 14V-391 to remedy a wiring-related fire hazard on the headliner of approximately 661,888 model year (MY) 2011-2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango vehicles manufactured between January 5, 2010 and December 11, 2013. The recall was in response to the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) investigation EA14-001 during which data provided by Chrysler indicates that the fire is caused by an electrical short in the vanity lamp wiring for either one of the sun visors mounted on the vehicle. The sun visors are mounted to the roof of the vehicle through the headliner with three metal screws.
