1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, 99,410 miles.  2nd Owner, it was bought used in 2002.  It has been well maintained and has been an incredibly reliable car.  I take good care of my cars and this one is no exception.  This one has been very lightly used over the last 5 years, driven once a week.  The result is a mechanically sound, low-mileage car with a clean interior.  It has never failed a North Carolina state inspection.  My other cars are Mercedes, and I had my usual Mercedes mechanic inspect this recently, he said its in great shape and sees no problems.  The only thing he mentioned was that the usual rubber suspension joints (ball joint, bushings, etc) could optionally be replaced.  This is a smoke-free vehicle.

Pros:
  • New tires
  • Clean interior
  • New battery
  • Alpine CD player
  • Low miles, its very hard to find one of these w/ less than 100,000 miles on it.
  • No fluid leaks whatsoever.
  • A/C blows very hard and cold, no problem whatsoever with it.
  • Windows all work perfectly
  • Interior overall very clean
  • Catalytic converter replaced 10,000 miles ago, so no rattling.
  • Oil changes every 3,000 miles religiously

Issues:
  • The tail-gate does not open.  I was rear-ended in a low-speed collision and it broke the latch mechanism.  There is a minor cosmetic dent in the tailgate, as well as the bottom right side of the rear bumper.  There is no other damage from the incident.  The rear-window DOES still function correctly, but it needs new shocks to hold it open.
  • Rear auto-door locks don't work, need to be locked and unlocked manually.  Front 2 door locks perfectly, this is only the rear passenger doors.
  • The interior headliner is coming loose around the edges, a very common problem with older jeeps.

About me, I have been buying and selling on ebay for over 15 years and have perfect feedback.  I always do my best to disclose the pros and cons of every item, and to take high quality pictures so the buyer knows what he or she will be getting.

Work at a Chrysler dealership, get free college education

Mon, May 4 2015

The cost of a college education in the US can put a student tens (hundreds, in some cases) of thousands of dollars into debt. FCA US wants to give its dealership employees a leg up, though, and the automaker is now offering a completely free education to them through a partnership with Strayer University. The workers can take any of the college's classes online or on campus through program called Degrees@Work. Currently, the offer is only available to employees Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram and Fiat dealers in the automaker's Southeast region, which includes Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee. However, a national expansion will happen before the end of the year, Strayer spokesperson Cristina Henley tells Autoblog. The program will cover all of the students' expenses, including their books, according to Henley. FCA US sees this partnership as a way to improve the talent of its workforce, retain employees longer and possibly attract people wanting to take advantage of this free education. "Many of our dealers have expressed concern over the availability of talent to fill open positions due to business growth and turnover in their stores, especially in metro markets," Al Gardner, the company's Head of Dealer Network Development, said in the Degrees@Work announcement. Strayer has about 40 programs available, including in business administration, accounting, marketing, and more, and the university offers associate's, bachelor's, and master's degrees. It will also give FCA US employees credit for their work experience to get them a diploma even more quickly. Chrysler nets $1.6B income in Q4, Fiat profit up 5%

Wed, 29 Jan 2014

Chrysler announced its 2013 financial results today and unveiled its new name and decidedly bank-like logo. Amid the announcement, Chrysler posted big gains in income, while Fiat didn't perform to analysts' expectations.
For 2013, Chrysler had revenue of $72.1 billion, up 10 percent from 2012. Net income reached $2.8 billion, a 65-percent increase. It was the company's third straight year of annual profits.
In terms of unit sales, Chrysler sold 2.4 million cars worldwide in 2013, up 9 percent. According to Automotive News, 1.8 million of those vehicles were sold in the US, a 14-percent increase. The sales growth boosted Chrysler's US market share to 11.4 percent, up 0.2 percent.

Best places to get your car maintained and repaired

Wed, May 1 2024

In this era of rampant inflation and high interest rates, the challenges of acquiring a car or SUV have been well documented. And so it has never been more important to protect that expensive investment by maintaining it. In recent months, Autoblog has shared Consumer Reports' evaluation of the least and most expensive car brands to keep running, as well as tips to prolong a car’s useful life. Especially since the pandemic, a number of factors have impacted these costs: more complex vehicles, new materials and manufacturing methods, a shortage of qualified technicians and replacement parts. Since 2022, repairs costs have jumped each year by about 10 percent. This month, Consumer Reports is offering a useful primer on keeping your ride in great shape, suggesting what might be the best options for searching out a repair shop, depending, as CR says, “on your car and your situation.” Author Ben Preston identifies three basic types of repair facilities: dealership service departments, independently owned repair shops, and chain repair shops. Building up trust with a specific shop and feeling comfortable going there is important. Preston quotes John Ibbotson, chief mechanic at Consumer ReportsÂ’ Auto Test Center: "You might be able to save a few bucks by going to whichever shop offers the cheapest prices, but if you want consistent, reliable service, itÂ’s best to find a repair shop you trust and stick with it,” Ibbotson says. The story goes on to evaluate each type of service facility. HereÂ’s a breakdown of CRÂ’s findings: Dealerships These work well for owners of newer cars, especially for covered warranty work. But the disadvantage is the high labor rates common to dealer service. Satisfaction ratings for dealer service departments range from very good (Acura, Lexus, Mazda, and Volvo) to not-so-good (Jeep and Kia). Dealers are best for: Fixing infotainment system glitches: "If the screen in the center of your dash has a habit of freezing up, or the touchscreen-activated climate controls arenÂ’t working, the dealership is the most likely place to find someone with the know-how to fix problems that maybe only a factory-authorized technician can access," Ibbotson says. Safety system recalibration: "Anything from a crack in your windshield to a minor fender dent can upset the calibration of the sensors that make features like automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control work," says Ibbotson.
