Just finished this beautiful 1972 Commando Bullnose. It took about 2 years to complete. Everything has been replaced or rebuilt. This Jeep is turn key and needs nothing. Only things that don't work are the horn, reverse lights, and no straps for the tailgate. It could use some bumpers too. Looks good without them though.Comes with unrestored white hard top.

Frame: Solid, sanded down and painted with eastwood chassis black

Body: All rust was cut out and new metal welded in. Mostly in lower rocker panel.

-Skim Coat of Evercoat's Extreme Rage and alot of block sanding
-3 coats of Marhyde 2K surfacer and more blocking
-3 coats of custom mixed tangerine twist single stage paint
Turned out nice, but I can still see some sanding scratches in the tailgate. Have to look hard though.

Engine: # matching 232. Rebuilt, bored .30 over. All machine work done by Progressive Performance Glen Allen, VA.
-RV cam
-Ported, Polished head
-high volume oil pump
-egr block off
-HEI distributor
-weber 32/36 conversion
-runs excellent. Small lope from cam

Transmission: Factory 3 speed T150
-new flywheel
-new pressure plate
-new throw out bearing
-new pilot bushing
-new clutch
-amsoil severe gear oil
-all new u-joints

Brakes: All new

Master cylinder

Lines

Shoes

Wheel cylinders

All factory gauges work. Also has new fuel tank and sender. Im sure I missed alot of stuff. This is all I can think of now. Let me know if you have any questions.

Update: noticed that two of the tires have a little dry rot on them, so putting on all brand new tires tomorrow. I'll try to post some pics with the new tires when I get them on. Also had a question about the tailgate. It is handmade, heavy duty and works great. The factory tailgate had way too much rust.

Texas student drives Barbie Jeep to school after DWI

Fri, Sep 4 2015

A Texas college student who lost her license when she was charged with a DWI this spring found a creative way of getting around campus. Tara Monroe, 20, is a student at the University of Texas at Austin. She had her driver's license automatically suspended when she refused a breathalyzer test after leaving a Waka Flocka concert on March 4. He dad took her car away and left her with a bike. But that just wasn't classy enough for Monroe. "Riding a bike around campus sucks," she told MySA.com. "Like really sucks." She searched Craigslist to find an alternative and settled on a bright pink Fisher-Price Barbie Jeep Power Wheel toy to help lug her stuff around campus. She named it after the original owner, a little girl named Charlene. The unorthodox ride has turned Monroe into a minor celebrity. Pictures of her slowly making her way around campus in the toy car have been popping up on social media. "This is the best way I could have gotten my 15 minutes of fame," she said. "Basically, it was the best decision I've made in college, yet..." The Barbie Jeep has a 12-volt battery and only goes about five miles per hour. Monroe says she loves the attention she is getting from her immature hijinks. Federal investigations about safety of rear-mounted gas tanks is nothing new

Sun, 09 Jun 2013

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Chrysler are currently making waves in our daily news feeds due to a disagreement over the safety of a few million Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokee models. Specifically, NHTSA has asked Chrysler to recall the SUVs because of the location of their fuel tanks, but you may be interested to know that requests such as this are nothing new.
Besides the two Jeep models, NHTSA has launched investigations over the years in such models as the Ford Crown Victoria (and its police-car counterpart), GM pickups built between 1972 and 1987, and rather famously the Ford Pinto.
Understanding how automakers and NHTSA have dealt with fuel-tank-safety concerns in the past may offer a better understanding of how Chrysler and the government agency will settle their current dispute. Check out the complete article from The Detroit News here.
