This a 1971 Jeep Jeepster Commando currently with 40,234 on the odometer. It has about 1,000 miles on it since paint, engine, and interior were all done. The engine is a Buick 231 Even-Fire V-6. Engine can be setup to run fuel injection. Engine was rebuilt along with the TH400 transmission. On the engine, it has a Rochester 2GC carburetor (Automatic Choke), HEI distributor, Heavy duty polished alternator,  High flow water pump, Manual fuel pump, and new spark plugs and wires. Has dual exhausts running to the front of rear tires. Radiator has been re-cored and keeps the engine cool at 180 degrees. I have replaced the old 15 gallon fuel tank with a poly 17 gallon tank with new sending unit and fuel lines.  Jeep has a disc conversion on front brakes to increase stopping power. The brakes are powered by a new 70/30 master cylinder and a 10" power brake. Both calipers, discs, pads, and bearings are all new. On the rear brakes, both wheel cylinders and drums are also new. All u-joints have also been replaced on both drive shafts. Suspension is basically stock as far as I know. Previous owner stated that nothing had been done to it. I do believe that it might have a little bit of lift but am not sure. Jeep is sitting on a set of Pro-Comp 1079 rims with bead-lock rings. Rings are showing some age as some chrome plating is coming off. Rings are still available through manufacture. Tires are 35x12.5x17LT Pro-Comp All Terrains. Tires have about 40% to 50% tread still left. The wheels are connected to 4- 2" wheel adapters/spacers. All lenses for lights have been replaced and are in working condition. The Jeep is painted in a very nice "Graphite Greys ." Before it was painted, it was taken down to bare metal to expose any rust. All rust (which was very little) was taken care of. It has two coats of primer, two coats of paint, and 4 coats of clear. Paint is in great condition besides a few minor chips. The inside floor board is coated with truck bed liner and dark grey carpet covering it. Seats were professionally upholstered with a light grey durable tweed fabric. Two front seats are not original but look fantastic in this jeep. Rear seat is original and matches front seats. Jeep has a Sony cd player in dash and 3.5" Kicker two-way speakers in doors. Also has 2- 6"x9" three-way speakers mounted on the side panels behind front seat. Automatic console is original and is covered with the tweed material as well to match front seats. All rubber seals have been replaced except for hard top and front windows. Windows are original and do show signs of age. They do have some scratches and front has a little rock chip. This over 40 years old and was only made for 5 years by the Kaiser Motor Corporation. This was the last production year of the Jeepster Commando. These have become very popular over the years and are getting harder to come by. I have done a lot of the hard work finding parts. In the last two years, parts have been more readily available through Jeepster websites. I have tried to give you the best detailed description I can. I am located in Las Vegas and will be happy to show by appointment only. I can be reached at EricRoseth@gmail.com. This has been my pride and joy for many years and have put around $16k into it which doesn't even include many man hours it has taken.  Thanks for looking and reading! Happy bidding!

WWII Jeep 'found in crate' set to cross Greenwich auction block

Thu, 30 May 2013

Fans of old military vehicles might want to pay extra close attention to the Greenwich Concours d'Elegance coming up this weekend. Crossing the Bonhams auction block on Sunday are a pair of seemingly flawless World War II Jeeps, which are both expected to fetch serious dollars.
Lot Number 305 at the auction is a 1945 Ford GPW Jeep that has been fully restored, which is expected to command between $35,000 and $45,000. Shortly after the Ford GPW, a potentially more interesting 1944 Willys MB (shown above) will be auctioned off, but Hemmings raises some red flags about this Jeep. First, it is claiming to have been "discovered in its original crate about 30 years ago," but there is no proof or documentation of any sort. Also, it is claiming to be all original, but it was given a paint job "shortly after it was discovered." Even with these questionable descriptions, this Willys could reach between $20,000 and $30,000. Head over to Bonhams' site and Hemmings for more information on both WW2-era Jeeps.

From Maseratis to rental cars | Autoblog Podcast #511

Fri, Apr 7 2017

On this week's podcast, Mike Austin and David Gluckman are in a huddle room (again), because the studio was already taken (again). We talk about the all-wheel-drive Dodge Challenger GT (again), as well as the Jeep Wrangler, Maserati Levante, Miata RF (again), and then David waxes poetic on mediocre rental cars (or similar). The episode wraps up with the traditional doling out of Spend My Money buying advice, with some input from an S2000 owner on advice discussed last time. The rundown is below. Remember, if you have a car-related question you'd like us to answer or you want buying advice of your very own, send a message or a voice memo to podcast at autoblog dot com. (If you record audio of a question with your phone and get it to us, you could hear your very own voice on the podcast. Neat, right?) And if you have other questions or comments, please send those too. Marchionne: Midsize pickup still not in the cards; Ram 1500, Jeep Wrangler could use aluminum

Wed, 07 May 2014

During the Fiat-Chrysler briefings on Tuesday, Reid Bigland, head of Ram Trucks, outlined the new product plans for his brand, including confirmation that an all-new light-duty Ram 1500 will launch in 2017. From there, discussions spun off in two directions, with the main questions being: will Ram build a midsize pickup? And, following Ford's move to extensively use aluminum in its new 2015 F-150, will Chrysler be using this weight-saving material for the next round of its fullsize truck, as well?
"I think there is room for a Ram 1000," Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne (pictured above) told members of the media, saying this is a conversation the automaker has been having internally for several years now. "We've tried this ... we've actually taken it to clinics," Marchionne stated, adding that the "response has been lukewarm."
"I have better use of aluminum in this house than a pickup truck." - Sergio Marchionne
