You are bidding on a 1986 Jeep Comanche 4X4 long bed pickup truck with the XLS package. It is a 2.8L V6 engine with the automatic transmission with bucket seats and the floor console. It has the "Select Trac" four wheel drive with low range. Has factory 10 spoke alloy wheels and although the tires have lots of tread they are dry rotted and will not pass Pa state inspection.Original factory window sticker is included in sale. Factory bed liner and aftermarket sun visor are included. Body is in nice condition with some rust above the rear wheel wells and a sizeable hole in the right bed side just forward of the wheelwell. The rear fender flairs are missing and not included. Cloth interior is very nice with a wear mark on the drivers seat back edge. The carpet is faded and needs redyed. A little over a year ago the previous owned had new brake calipers, rotors, pads, rear wheel cylinders, shoes, emergency brake cables, and steel lines installed. Also installed was a new front exhaust pipe, gas cap, radiator cap, and thermostat. Transmission was drained with new filter and fluid. I recently installed a new fuel tank, sending unit, fill/vent hoses, support straps and a new battery. Keeping it from passing Pa inspection is the dry rotted tires and the fact that the smog pump has been removed. Titling it antique or classic may prevent you from having to get it inspected in your state. I have driven it around locally and seems to run fine. In cool weather the choke does not work 100%. Vehicle is being sold "AS-IS" with no warranty. Clear PA title in my name. Feel free to ask questions and look carefully at the pictures. Buyer arranges shipment or pick-up. $500.00 deposit required 48 hours after auction ends with balance due at or before pick-up or shipment.

2013 Jeep Wrangler Moab Edition
Wed, 11 Dec 2013There will forever be a soft spot in my heart for the Jeep Wrangler. The last one I owned was red, and, as a 1990 model, had the square headlights derided by Jeep enthusiasts who grew up on the Civilian Jeeps that descended from their General Purpose military ancestors. As a teenager, I couldn't have cared less what shape its headlights happened to be - to me, a Jeep Wrangler represented freedom; a carefree do-it-all machine equally at home with the top stowed away in the summer or with the heater on full blast in the snowy clutches of Old Man Winter. In Dr. Seuss parlance, my square-headlighted Sneetch was just as worthy as any round-headlighted Sneetch.
All that said, I'll be the first person to advise against buying a Jeep Wrangler of any sort for owners who don't plan to use it as its makers intend. There's no good reason to punish yourself with a stiff and springy ride, a loud and somewhat drafty (though generally water-resistant) interior or the poor fuel economy expected of a block-shaped vehicle if you don't enjoy its other, more exciting benefits.
Of course, Jeep has done its darndest over the years to make the Wrangler as civilized as possible while keeping it as capable as federal law will allow. The 2013 Jeep Wrangler Moab edition is one of Jeep's latest attempts to attract attention from the upper reaches of the active lifestyle set, and I spent a week with one to see what makes the Moab special.
NHTSA closes book on Jeep 'trailer hitch' recall after all
Mon, 20 Jan 2014After much debating and hand-wringing, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration now says it has "no reservations" with Chrysler's plan to recall certain Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokee models over concerns that their fuel tanks, which are located behind the rear axle, could rupture or leak in the event of a rear impact. The longstanding argument between the two entities saw Chrysler openly defy the Feds after a request to recall 2.7 million units back in June.
Chrysler's "voluntary campaign" will instead see it recall 1.56-million 1993-2004 model year Grand Cherokee SUVs, along with 2002-2007 Liberty models. Affected vehicles will get a trailer hitch installed free of charge, which Chrysler says will provide an additional degree of protection for the fuel tanks in the event of a crash. Jeeps with Mopar-branded hitches or hitches that were installed at the factory aren't affected by this recall.
Chrysler's argument throughout this battle has been that the Jeeps in question are no more susceptible to fires than comparable vehicles from the same time period, a position that NHTSA has seemingly arrived at as well. "Those vehicles performed at a rate similar to their peers. That is the keystone analysis as to whether something poses an unreasonable risk to safety," said outgoing NHTSA boss David Strickland during an interview with the The Associated Press.
2014 Jeep Cherokee facing production delay
Fri, 17 May 2013Jeep's bold-faced new direction spearheaded by the 2014 Cherokee is facing some teething issues. According to a report by the Detroit Free Press, production start-up of the controversial new utility vehicle at its Toledo North facility is running about a month behind schedule "due to a wide range of issues." That's according to Mark Chernoby, senior vice president of engineering at Chrysler.
Chernoby maintains that the issues being encountered aren't unusual for the launch of a new vehicle - particularly one with a new powertrain - and he downplayed the delay, telling Jeep dealers that they "will have ample inventory of the midsize SUV by fall." Among the kinks being worked out? Calibrating the Cherokee's cutting-edge ZF nine-speed automatic transmission and refining assembly line tasks to make the process more efficient.
Chrysler expects to start building retail-ready versions of the Cherokee around mid-June, with official sales slated to start in September.
