Xj Cherokee Supercharged Lift Jeep Truck-lite on 2040-cars
Dallas, Texas, United States
This has been my daily driver for the past 7 years. I bought it with 112,000 miles on it and it now has 197,500 on it. Still runs great, but growing family needed a suburban, so it has been replaced as my daily driver.
Here's what has been done to it during my ownership. 1) Yella Terra 1.7:1 roller rocker arms 2) Boostec Supercharger w/Split Second FTC1 Fuel/Timing controller (will come with a little laptop with the split sec programming software on it so you can mess with the tune if you want, but I have it dialed in) 3) Truck-lite LED headlights 4) Dynomax cat-back exhaust 5) New 3-row all metal CSF radiator 6) New air conditioning compressor (a/c works great and blows very cold) 7) New brown dog rubber motor mounts 8) Transgo SK340 reprogramming kit with 1st gear hold feature programmed for shorter/firmer shifts 9) B&M 14,400 but 70264 transmission cooler 10) Powertrax no-slip rear synchronized locker, includes two additional spring kits. (although never mudded, I've taken the jeep hunting and have never gotten it stuck) 11) Rough Country 2" lift 12) Late model Rubicon Shocks 13) Banks Power Torque Tube exhaust header 14) Brand new Yokohama tires (235/75-R15) with less than 3,000 miles on them. 15) Brand new front end. Tie rod ends, ball joints, steering damper, brake rotors, drag link, etc... This jeep does NOT suffer from the dreaded death wobble so many old XJ's do. 16) 6 x Bosch 784 injectors with the 4 holes vs. 1 hole for better atomization and fuel economy. 17) Remote start connected to factory keyless entry (two clicks of the lock button results and remote start with 15 minute automatic idle, great for cold mornings when you want to climb into a warm truck) The jeep has the factory tow hitch and trailer light plug, has the overhead console with outside temp, fuel economy and compass. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this thing across country. It will also come with all the original intake, power steering and exhaust parts so that the supercharger could be removed if so desired and returned to factory specs. |

Winter storm got you down? Try snowboarding through Manhattan
Tue, Jan 26 2016Two filmmakers decided to make the best of this weekend's historic snowstorm by turning New York City into a winter sports enthusiast's wonderland. Popular YouTube based filmmakers Casey Neistat and Jesse Wellens uploaded this video of Neistat snowboarding through the empty streets of Manhattan yesterday. While officials were warning motorists to avoid driving in the blizzard, Neistat and his buddy were being pulled by a Jeep Wrangler through Times Square. It goes without saying that this stunt is suicidally dangerous. There are several moments in the video where Neistat gets pretty close to wiping out on the back of parked, snow covered cars or on the cornerstones of buildings. All to the soundtrack of Frank Sinatra's New York, New York, no less. The police do make a cameo, but NY's finest admit to merely wanting to watch the escapades. "Someone complained about you, so we're going to act like we're talking to you," the unnamed officer can be heard saying on video. The original video has since gone viral, and currently stands at over 6.2 million views in just 24 hours. Despite the virality of their tricks, please do not attempt this in your own snowbound metropolis.
FCA's shifter fiasco proves novel gear selectors are a bad idea
Tue, Feb 9 2016What's wrong with PRNDL? Why are automakers trying to overly complicate the simple task of selecting gears? If there's any lesson to learn from the recent news that NHTSA is investigating 853,000 Fiat Chrysler vehicles over its problematic gear selectors, it's that the trend of fancy shifters needs to stop. Now. Last year, NHTSA opened an investigation into Jeep Grand Cherokee models, and has now expanded this probe to include the 2012-14 Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger. The problem? The shifter – assembled by ZF – is confusing for many drivers. "Testing ... indicates that operation of the (electronic) shifter is not intuitive and provides poor tactile and visual feedback to the driver, increasing the potential for unintended gear selection," a NHTSA document states. More than 100 crashes and over a dozen injuries are linked to this problem, according to The Detroit Free Press. To us, the problem isn't just limited to FCA. These unnecessarily novel gear selectors are spreading like wildfire across the industry. Honda and Acura use a weird pushbutton setup. Lincolns have buttons on the dashboard. Jaguar's shifter electronically raises out of the center console. Mercedes uses a stalk with up-for-Reverse, down-for-Drive, push-for-Neutral arrangement. And what the hell is BMW thinking with its M cars? FCA has since abandoned the confusing shifters in question. The 300, Charger, and Grand Cherokee now use the rotary shift dial that's quickly proliferating across the company's brands. Simplistic gear selectors might not be sexy, but no one ever complained about not being able to find the right gear in a Hyundai Sonata. What's most interesting is that this NHTSA investigation could push FCA – and possibly other automakers – to redesign vehicle functions that otherwise operate as designed. Just because most people will never have a problem putting a Dodge Charger in Reverse doesn't mean there isn't a flaw with the design. But perhaps a more simplistic solution – good ol' PRNDL – would have prevented these issues from the start. Jeep and Alfa Romeo join the already exotic Italian police force
Mon, Dec 12 2016Police departments in Italy are blessed with some of the most iconic cop cars on the planet. Where else will you see a pale blue Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 emblazoned with "Polizia" on the road? FCA decided they couldn't let Lamborghini steal the show and have handed over the first Jeep Renegade and Alfa Romeo Giulietta to the Police Academy in Rome. FCA is also loaning two Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloces that will join the two Giulia Quadrifoglios medical cars that are already in service. The Renegade is an four-wheel drive Italian-spec model with a 2.0-liter, 120 horsepower inline four-cylinder engine that we don't get in the United States. The current Giulietta is a small-hatchback that isn't sold in America. On the other hand, the new Giulia and its 280 horsepower turbocharged inline-four and the Q4 all-wheel drive system goes on sale next month. In polizia guise, it's one of the most formidable and beautiful pursuit vehicles on the road. FCA is no stranger to police cars and supplies Dodge Charger Pursuits to fleets all across the US. We spent some time in one a while back and learned all the pros and cons of driving a black and white cruiser.
