Supercharged 1984 Jeep Cherokee 4-door 2.8l 4wd on 2040-cars
Salinas, California, United States
I have a really neat, rare '84 Cherokee up for sale here. Extensive engine / driveline work, still has the original blue plates and original title (I purchased it from the original owner). It was parked about 15yrs ago, and started up every few years. I went through the electrical and vacuum system and got it running (lots of repaired vac lines, new ignition etc). It really moves when it starts building boost (around 5psi with the current pulleys). The body is actually in very good shape, with the exception of the roof, which had wet leaves sitting on it and caused it to rust through in various places around the roof rack mounting holes. It's temporarily sealed up so rain water doesn't get inside (not perfect, as rain water does still get in.....). The roof could be just spot patched or fully replaced, I have a full replacement roof that comes with it for either route.
ENGINE: • 2.8l with a Fageol Supercharger kit (BAR/smog legal) (fageolsuperchargers.com) • Engine professionally rebuilt by Salinas 4x4 • Ported/ polished heads • Forged pistons with zero-gap piston rings • Blower cam • Roller rockers • Engine is fully balanced • High volume oil pump, remote mount oil filter and remote cooler • Crank is cross-drilled and chamfered • 2.5" turbo exhaust system • Torqeflite trans has only 20k miles on professional overhaul and includes Transgo race-level valve body (nice firm shifts; in 4low, it will chirp the tires into all gears) • 2" receiver hitch TO DO: • Needs a speedo cable, and the gauges are out because of that. Heater works fine, stereo has been removed, but I have one you can put back in. • Roof repair (unless I get really REALLY bored and do it myself....but then the price will go up...) • It does have a BAR label on the door frame, and the computer is pre-check engine light, so all it really has to pass for CA Smog is the tailpipe emissions. Still has all necessary equipment (catalytic converter, EGR, etc) Fully legal swap as explained in the Fageol paperwork. • VIDEO!! You may have to copy paste the link as eBay doesn't let you put in links like they used to. This is a cold start, you can hear the idle is on the fast idle cam. (No smoke, the tailpipe just has moisture coming out from it warming up.) s800.photobucket.com/user/yellowoctupus/media/craigslist/M4V02347.mp4.html

A pair of Michigan lawmakers introduced legislation Thursday that would punish anyone who infiltrates a vehicle's electronic systems with penalties as harsh as life imprisonment. Senate bill 927 says that "a person shall not intentionally access or cause access to be made to an electronic system of a motor vehicle to willfully destroy, damage, impair, alter or gain unauthorized control of the motor vehicle." Offenders will be deemed guilty of a felony, and may be imprisoned for any number of years up to life in prison. The proposed legislation is one of the first attempts nationally to address the consequences for car hacking, which has become a top concern throughout the auto industry. Critics have accused executives of being slow to respond to the threats, which were first known as long as six years ago but gained attention last July when a pair of researchers remotely controlled a Jeep Cherokee. In January, the industry established an Information Sharing and Analysis Center to collectively evaluate security measures and counter breaches. But the Michigan bill isn't noteworthy only because of the life penalty prescribed; it's noteworthy for what's missing in its details. Language in the bill doesn't delineate between independent cyber-security researchers and criminals who intend to inflict harm or havoc. Under its provisions, it's possible Charlie Miller, pictured below, and Chris Valasek, the researchers who demonstrated last summer that the Cherokee could be remotely commandeered and controlled, could face life behind bars. Provisions of the legislation that prevent a person from "altering" the motor vehicle could ensnare car enthusiasts or gearheads who tinker with electronic systems to boost performance, increase fuel efficiency or add aftermarket features. In that context, Senate Bill 927 seems like the latest measure in a running feud between independent researchers, gearheads and big automakers. Car companies don't like third parties poking around their electronic systems and would prefer the researchers not reveal security weaknesses. Researchers, on the other hand, say many carmakers are either slow to fix or unwilling to repair security holes unless they're able to publish their findings. 12 new cars that will never go out of styleTue, Nov 23 2021Some cars never go out of style. It’s rare, but it happens. They get old. They get depreciated. But they never stop looking cool. Some might call them modern or instant classics. Within a few years theyÂ’re no longer the latest and greatest, no longer the flavor of the month, but they remain special. Eternally special. Timeless. These cars arenÂ’t necessarily going to be worth a fortune someday. However, some may not depreciate as rapidly or as far as other models. But thatÂ’s not what weÂ’re talking about here. These are the cars that enthusiasts will always find desirable from the curbside. TheyÂ’re the cars you end up shopping on eBay late at night 10 years later because you canÂ’t get them out of your head. TheyÂ’re the cars that will forever excite you when you spot a clean one in traffic or in a parking lot. There are plenty of recent examples over the past couple of decades that could count as instant design classics. But then we got to thinking, what 2021 models will be forever cool to stare at? Which new cars and trucks on sale today will we be shopping on eBay late at night in the 2030s? We kept supercars and other ultra-expensive cars off the list to keep things within the realm of attainability, and ended up with 12 total cars. Lexus LC WeÂ’re not applying a numerical ranking to any of the cars on this list, but if we were, the Lexus LC would be No. 1. There isnÂ’t another car design out there that can stir our emotions the way an LC can when itÂ’s just standing still. This car is a concept design come true in the most beautiful of ways, and itÂ’s a shoo-in winner for Concours events decades into the future. All of this heaping praise, and we havenÂ’t even gotten to the LC 500Â’s intoxicating 5.0-liter V8. It doesnÂ’t win drag races. It wonÂ’t be the fastest around the track against any similarly-priced competition. But none of that matters. ItÂ’s quite possibly the best car you can buy new, and that says it all when it comes to the LC. Chevrolet Corvette It might not be the stunner that the Lexus LC is, but the new C8 Corvette is and will always be a special vehicle. ItÂ’s the first mid-engine Corvette, which instantly cements it into an automotive hall of fame section of sorts. All of the performance stats and specs are there to back up its supercar-like looks, and it remains the best performance bargain on sale today. 2014 Jeep Cherokee musters 22 MPG city, 31 highwayThu, 05 Sep 2013Production and media drive delays included, there has been no lack of press surrounding the 2014 Jeep Cherokee. With the most recent delay reportedly due to powertrain calibrations, we've been waiting to see how the Cherokee's fuel economy looks against the highly competitive compact CUV segment. Thanks to the EPA, we now know the fuel economy figures for the newest member of the Jeep family. 2040Cars.com © 2012-2025. All Rights Reserved.
