Just recieved an offer on my house with a 30 day close so would be willing to take 15,500 for a short time, just so I don't have to deal with putting it in storage. Lots of love and money in it, somewhere in the neighborhood of $40,000. I know I’ll be missing lots of features but will try to list them all. 1996 Jeep Cherokee Turn key LS1 conversion with all components from Novak conversions $15000 2004 GTO LS1 motor with rebuilt and upgraded 4L60E transmission 169,171 miles on body, 86,000 miles on motor before install, 3,638 miles on completed conversion Rubicon Express 3.5 inch lift Tru Cool H7B Transmission cooler Lokar Cable shifter with Lokar shifter boot and LED position indicator Lokar Transfer case cable shifter Dana 44 Rear with Yukon Grizzly locker and Yukon chrome-oly shafts, 4.10 gears Dana 30 front with Eaton E-locker, larger 297 axle joints and 4.10 gears Upgraded heavy duty custom Tom Woods driveshafts with SYE Front and back 1999 Durango steering box with 1996 Grand Cherokee tie rod Kwik Performance power steering pump with remote reservoir Warn Bumper front and back with spare tire carrier, bedlined Warn rock sliders, bedlined OR-Fab Rear Quarter Armor with bars Bushwacker cut-out fender flares Window visor vents Rocker panels bedlined 31x10.50R15LT Maxxis Bighorn MT-762 on 15X8 5-4.5 Allied AW51 Black Daytona Rims with lots of tread and matching new spare Air Lift stabilizer bags in rear Dakota Digital RPM converter for correct Tach reading Transmission Temp Gauge Towing hitch with trailer brake and receiver in front Wired for winch with quick disconnects front and back Smittybilt winch XRC-8 with removable mount for front or back use PIAA Driving, Pencil beam and Reverse lights on rack, PIAA Fog lights on Bumper and Halogen side lights on rack, controlled by custom switches on console Flowmaster 40 series muffler Gas tank Skid plate Viper 5906V alarm with SmartStart and GPS tracking, Glass break and tilt sensors Bluetooth hands free stereo with voice text 1998 Center console with cupholders 1996 Grand Cherokee Seats with power drivers seat Cleaned, bedlined and Hush Mat on complete interior floors Roof rack Hi-Lift Jack BoltLocks all around keyed to ignition key Two items left to complete is the A/C wiring(currently hot and ground are backwards) and a better exhaust(currently the exhaust is mounted too rigid with no room for flex causing leak at header manifold). Otherwise everything is running perfect. Still can be driven moderately, but due to engine flex and rigid exhaust, it’s not good to get on it hard. Have taken it on a couple 400 mile trips including over the pass and have not had any problems.

Government Ending Jeep Investigation
Tue, Jan 21 2014The government is closing its investigation into older-model Jeeps with fuel tanks that could rupture and cause fires. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Friday it has "no reservations" with Chrysler Group's plans to recall the vehicles. The agency is expected to release a report on its investigation in a few weeks. The decision ends an unusually public struggle between Chrysler and NHTSA. The agency asked Chrysler to recall 2.7 million Jeeps last June, contending that their gas tanks - which are positioned behind the rear axle - were at risk of rupturing and catching fire in rear-end crashes. Involved were Grand Cherokee SUVs from the 1993 to 2004 model years and Liberty SUVs from 2002 to 2007. Chrysler initially refused to recall the vehicles. The company said the rate of fuel leaks and fires after crashes was similar to comparable vehicles that were sold during the time in question. It was the first time in two years that an automaker had refused NHTSA's request for a recall. Chrysler later agreed to recall 1.56 million of the Jeeps and install trailer hitches on them to help protect the gas tanks. The company sent notices to the remaining customers saying their vehicles were fine if they have factory-installed or Chrysler-made trailer hitches. NHTSA said late Friday that it has been in close contact with Chrysler and will monitor the recall as it continues. Chrysler has told customers that it will start installing the hitches soon. "Consumers should have their vehicles serviced promptly once they receive final notification from Chrysler,"NHTSA said in a statement. In its own statement Friday, Chrysler said, "We share NHTSA's commitment to safety." NHTSA's outgoing chief, David Strickland, told The Associated Press in an interview last month that Chrysler had convinced NHTSA that the Jeeps were no more dangerous than similar vehicles sold at that time. "Those vehicles performed at a rate similar to their peers. That is the keystone analysis as to whether something poses an unreasonable risk to safety," Strickland said. Friday was Strickland's last day at NHTSA. He is joining Venable, a law firm. NHTSA began investigating the Jeeps at the request of the Center for Auto Safety, a Washington-based advocacy group. "It is tragic that NHTSA approved Chrysler's sham trailer hitch recall for Jeeps that explode in rear impacts," the Center for Auto Safety's director, Clarence Ditlow, said Friday.
2020 Land Rover Defender vs. 2020 Jeep Wrangler: How they compare on paper
Tue, Sep 10 2019For ages, the Jeep Wrangler has had the serious off-road SUV market in America all to itself, especially when it comes to two-door variants. But competition is coming, and the first on its way is the 2020 Land Rover Defender, which was just revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Each packages retro looks and impressive off-road capability, but does one have an advantage? We decided to take a look into each SUV's specifications and compare them on their engines, drivetrains, interior space and towing among other things, to see how they stack up. Since both SUVs are offered in two-door and four-door versions, we've made sure to feature both versions. You can find all the vital stats in the chart below, followed by more in-depth analysis. Engines and drivetrains The Land Rover is the clear high-performance option of these two SUVs. Its base turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, offered only in the four-door Defender 110, is more powerful than either of the gas engines offered on the Jeep Wrangler. The Wrangler's four-cylinder matches it on torque, at least. The optional turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six in the Defender makes over 100 more horsepower and pound-feet of torque than either Jeep gas engine. But if you're looking for diesel propulsion, along with its associated torque and fuel economy, the Wrangler will be your only option. Final specs haven't been released, but in the Ram 1500, the same engine makes 260 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. Fuel economy hasn't been announced for the Land Rover or the diesel Wrangler. But if fuel economy is a concern, the four-cylinder Wrangler is the most frugal of the SUVs we have numbers on. As for transmissions, the Wrangler is your only choice if you have to have a manual. It's available on both the two-door and four-door models, but only with the V6 engine. If you don't mind an automatic transmission, both SUVs come with variations on the ZF eight-speed auto. Getting the power to the wheels is another area where these two SUVs diverge. The Jeep is very traditional with a standard selectable four-wheel-drive system with two-wheel drive, and low- and high-range four-wheel drive modes. On the Sahara, there's an available full-time four-wheel drive mode, but the other modes are still available. On the Land Rover, you get full-time four-wheel drive, the same kind used on the Land Rover Range Rover.
