Very dependable vehicle.  Bought it 4-5 years ago for a traveling job I had.  Now I work local so would rather have a work truck and car cheap on gas.  This has been driven on some 10-15 hour trips (stopping for gas and food only) never had any problem out of it during a long drive.  A/c-heater works, but will not change from defrost to other vents.  I only use defrost, so I never messed with trying to find the problem. Rear speakers are hanging (if I can find my rivet gun, I'll reattach, haven't cause the fabric on it needs re-glued.  some of the head liner has been re-glued, but still a bubble on passenger side that was never messed with.. it If you come to a sudden stop, when you release your food from the break, there is a little jerk with a clunk noise.  I have put over 27,000 miles on it. It has done that since I bought it, and has not gotten any worse.  (could be break caliper opening back up, not sure..   it will stop on a dime.  the way I drive it, it rarely does this, I just recently remembered cause my niece has been learning to drive in it.  guess I gently release the break as she don't)   Lack of work has kept me from putting it in the shop to fix this since it never worsened.  It has a dent in front of the drivers door where some idiot decided he wanted to kick some cars.  Front bumper looks like it once kissed a pole. Listed locally, I reserve the right to end auction early.  Front fog lights where not hooked up when I bought, and I never tried to hook them up. No clue if they work.  Paint is faded on hood, parts of the door. I have replaced the radiator and battery. Have not had any issues with anything else on this jeep. Rear tires are like new, front tires still have good treat.  Hankook tires, they will hug the road. oh, that white in the back, is where some white latex paint got spilled when somebody decided to put a 70lbs water pump on it, i didn't notice for a few days, no clue if there's a way to remove it without messing up the carpet. Happy 50th birthday, Jeep Wagoneer

Thu, 02 May 2013

The Wagoneer got the SUV on the radar of buyers looking for something capable, comfortable and rugged.
The Jeep Wagoneer was introduced 50 years ago, and it's that vehicle we have to thank for the herds of excellent crossovers and SUVs that make up our current automotive landscape. On a personal level, I have always loved the full-size Jeeps and their crisp Brooks Stevens styling, which aged well over their long tenure on the market. The SJs, as they're known among enthusiasts, were the Wagoneer and its two-door counterpart, the original Cherokee. The Wagoneers had become true luxury vehicles by the end of their run, which stretched form late 1962 as a '63 model all the way to 1991, when they were offered exclusively under the Grand Wagoneer nameplate.

Jeep Wrangler likely to get aluminum body, will stay in Toledo

Mon, 27 Oct 2014

Perhaps more than any other vehicle currently for sale in the United States, the Jeep Wrangler is viewed by purist fans as a vehicle that simply must maintain the status quo. In this case, that means a body-on-frame design, solid axles, a relatively large engine sitting up front and a removable top. It's always been that way, and it always will be.
Maybe.
According to the most recent reports, the next-generation Jeep will continue to soldier forth with a full steel chassis underneath its stamped bodywork. The biggest change, reports Automotive News, will be that said panels will be hewn from aluminum instead of steel, a seismic shift of a transition not unlike what's happened with the new Ford F-150. Because it won't be a unibody, the SUV will likely continue to be assembled in Toledo, OH as it (almost) always has been - the latter has been a source of heartburn in recent weeks for the Northwestern city in the Buckeye State.

2014 Jeep Cherokee: Introduction

Tue, 27 May 2014

When we look back at some of the more shocking product launches of recent yeras, the Jeep Cherokee is certainly high up on the list. And we aren't just talking about its off-the-wall, polarizing design.
For starters, it brought back the iconic Cherokee nameplate - something Jeep enthusiasts have coveted for ages. But beyond that, it brought a new evolution for the Jeep brand. After all, the Cherokee is car-based - using the same compact platform that underpins the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200. It has a greater focus on technology and refinement than ever before, in an effort to appeal to a new crop of Jeep customers. And powering it all is a new (optional) V6 engine paired with an equally new nine-speed automatic transmission.
Can the Cherokee's car-based roots still allow for a vehicle that's superb when the going gets tough? Will its design still be a love/hate affair in one year's time, or will it start to blend in? Is the powertrain strong enough to not only support the needs of daily driving and road trips, but blaze a few trails as well? We're aiming to answer all these questions, and more, over the next 12 months. Welcome to the Autoblog long-term garage, Cherokee.
