LOVE THIS OLD JEEP! IT RUNS SOLID AND IS DRIVEN DAILY. I AM SELLING IT BECAUSE I NEED A BIGGER SUV TO USE TO CATER. THERE IS ABOUT 70% TIRE TREAD LEFT. IT IS A SIX CYLINDER AND IS VERY QUICK- GREAT ACCELERATION. HAS ALL THE POWER OPTIONS AND THE LEATHER SEATS ARE A MUST! THERE ARE DINGS ON THE OUTSIDE, AND OTHER AGE RELATED BOO-BOOS, BUT NOTHING UNEXPECTED FOR A 13 YEAR OLD JEEP. THE PAINT IS VERY RED AND VIBRANT AND SHINY. NO FADING AT ALL. THERE IS ONE OPEN SEAM IN THE UPHOLSTRY ON THE DRIVER'S SEAT EDGE . LOOK CLOSELY AT THE PICTURES AND ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING. I WILL ACCOMODATE YOU IN MEETING YOUR HAULER TO PICK IT UP. THE BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL COSTS AND SHIPPING DETAILS FOR THE HAULER. BLESSINGS TO ALL! |

Watch a Jeep CJ get disassembled and reassembled in minutes
Fri, Feb 16 2018Movie buffs! Remember the scene in the James Bond film 007: The Living Daylights where Timothy Dalton's character slices the floorpan off a police Lada using a laser, and when the driver hits the brakes the Lada's body simply jumps off its axles? That scene was immediately brought to mind as I watched this clip of eight Canadian mechanics disassembling a slightly modified Jeep in a matter of seconds. Having driven the Jeep to a complete stop, the technicians start unbolting it until the body lifts off the frame and the engine can be hauled away. It only took half a minute to turn the Jeep into just a chassis on wheels. As repair manuals say, refitting is the reversal of removal. Apparently the technicians have now honed their mechanical choreography to the point that the Jeep can be disassembled and reassembled in two minutes and 39 seconds; while I expect a great number of bolts having been removed beforehand and the likelihood of the Jeep falling to pieces with a sharp braking being significant, it is definitely impressive. It also reminds me of someone driving an old, dodgy car, having learned all its kinks to be able to keep it running. According to a Reddit thread, the pre-modified "Jifty Jeep" has been built (and taken apart, and rebuilt) by the School of Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RCEME) for exactly this purpose. The team travels all around Canada to practice their show, trying to shave seconds off their record. There are worse hobbies.
NHTSA upgrading Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango headliner fire probe
Wed, 15 Jan 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation into headliner fires experienced by a small number of Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango owners has been upgraded to an engineering analysis, the step before the initiation of a recall. In August last year the investigation began with 146,000 Grand Cherokees from 2012 after three complaints were received, but a report on Edmunds says it has been expanded to include 593,299 vehicles covering the 2011-2013 model years for the Jeep and the Dodge Durango, which uses the same headliner assembly, because of possibly 52 incidents of fire.
In some of those incidents drivers have reported a burning odor, smoke or open flames that were contained to the headliner or migrated to another area of the passenger compartment. The culprit has apparently been found: NHTSA blaming an electrical short in the sun visor vanity light wiring, which is routed under the headliner and held in place by three screws. Chrysler began its own probe into the issue when it was first reported and is still looking into the situation while, "fully supporting the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's investigation."
