If you know why a TJ is lengthened then you know why a 2 door XJ has got the perfect wheel base.  You also know that 2 door XJs with a 5 speed manual transmissions are very rare.   You also know that finding a good one is very hard to find if at all.  If you find one that can be both driven on the highway at 75 MPH and take on the hard trails, well you found it.

Body:

No rust anywhere.  Floors are like new.  Good paint with good looking dents.  It's a trail rig, has lots of dents.  All glass is there and the body has no cracks.  The body is structurally sound.

Interior:

Comfortable.  Heater system works with cold AC.

Engine:

4.0 with 113,000 on it.  Very strong engine and returns good fuel mileage for a jeep. Does not use oil. Maintains slightly under 210 degree temperature.  Has power steering pump cooler.

Off Road:

Tomken 6.5 inch lift, adjustable control arms (very stout arms), adjustable track bar and JKS sway bar disconnects.  Tom Woods driveshaft and slip yoke eliminator.  Detroit locker in rear and Track Lock Diff in front.  4.56 superior gears.  Rusty's heavy duty steering bar, Old Man Emu front shocks, Warn winch and bumper.  Hanson Offroad rear bumper.  35 Inch Goodrich KM2 tires with lots of thread left.  Tires have been perfectly balanced and there is NO shake driving this XJ.  Wheels are only a year old.

Maintenance:

Starting with newest maintenance.  Maintenance was done as needed or to keep jeep in perfect condition.

At 112,087 replaced drivers side wheel hub assembly.

At 111,291 did complete brake job.  Replaced rotors and pads with calipers in front and drums and brake pad in rear.

At 111,000 replaced spark plugs in engine.  Coolant was flushed and changed.

At 109,000 replaced upper and lower ball joints and tie rod ends.  Alignment done.

At 104,000 front and rear axels were overhauled.  All u-joints were replaced.  Clutch was replaced.  Radiator, water pump and all hoses were replaced.

Oil changes are done as needed and diffs and transfer case have Mopar synthetic lube in them.

Jeep can be parked on the driveway because it does not leak.  It needs nothing to take it away, all maintenance is done.

The BAD:

Signal light lever does not return to center.  When going up a long steep hill the blend doors in the heater will go to heat because the vacuum box is gone.  But it returns to vent after the hill.  These never bothered me.

I will be glad to answer all questions.  Yes, it is worth the asking price.  It's rare!

Marchionne defends FCA recalls, says Wrangler won't be all-aluminum

Fri, May 22 2015

FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne recently received the 2015 Industry Leadership Award from the SAE Foundation. While speaking with the press after the event, the boss discussed his thoughts about some key issues regarding the company's future. One of the big regulatory issues facing FCA at the moment is the upcoming public hearing by the National Highway Traffic Safety into the automaker's handling of 20 recalls. Marchionne has no intention of testifying there, according to The Detroit News. The CEO also thinks that the government regulator is becoming much more aggressive in how it handles safety campaigns, but the Feds aren't necessarily doing a very good job of communicating that. "We need to work with the agency in a very cooperative and open way to make sure that we can meet their requirements for their new stance," he said, according to the newspaper. "We have no option but to comply with their requirements and we will. I have nothing to hide in this process. I just want clear rules." Marchionne also dropped the news that the company has changed its mind about making the next Jeep Wrangler totally from aluminum. "Because of the difference in cost, not just the new material but the actual assembly process, I think we can do almost as well without doing it all-aluminum," he said to The Detroit News. This seemingly opens the door for the model to remain in production in Toledo, OH, but only just a crack. Marchionne says that the new Wrangler would still use a large amount of aluminum, and there are "at least" two sites in contention for the assembly. The company doesn't have too long to make a decision because the model reportedly launches in 2017.

Jeep Liberty under investigation for door fires

Tue, 29 Oct 2013

The Jeep Liberty has already had plenty of attention for possible fires thanks to the first-gen model's fuel tank, but now the midsize Jeep is under the microscope of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for another fire-related concern. NHTSA has opened an investigation for the 2012 Liberty after receiving two reports of electrical fires in the driver's door.
According to the investigation summary, around 80,000 vehicles could potentially be affected by this problem. In both reported fires, the drivers noticed smoke and then flames from the master power window switch, and they had to pull to a stop and exit through the passenger side of the SUV. According to Autoguide, there was one injury to a motorist who suffered burned fingers while trying to open the driver's door.
Interestingly, the Dodge Nitro is not yet involved in this investigation, even though it was still around for the 2012 model year; the Nitro ended production in 2011 about a year before the final Liberty rolled off the line for the 2013 model year. Scroll down for the official NHTSA investigation summary.

2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio vs. 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk: On-paper sibling rivalry

Thu, Feb 15 2018

Pricing was revealed for the 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio, and with its $81,590 price tag, it's within range of yet another high-performance SUV from Fiat-Chrysler: the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. The Hellcat-powered Jeep is more expensive than the Stelvio at $86,995, but depending on options, the price advantage might go either way. This left us wondering, how similar are these two high-powered SUVs? Besides sharing the same number of words in their very-long names, we took a look at some of their performance specs and put them in the spreadsheet below. As always, if you want to compare either of these with other speedy SUVs, be sure to try out our comparison tools. As far as outright speed, both SUVs are surprisingly close. The Trackhawk is just a bit quicker in a straight line, hitting 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds as opposed to the Alfa's 3.9. The Jeep's 180-mph top speed is also 3-mph quicker than the Alfa. But neither of these differences is especially huge. What makes this interesting is how different the paths each SUV takes to get to its results. The Trackhawk accomplishes the task with pure grunt. It has Dodge's Hellcat supercharged 6.2-liter V8 making 707 horsepower and 645 pound-feet of torque to overcome its hefty 5,363-pound body. The Alfa, on the other hand, makes do with less power and torque, 505 and 443, respectively, from its twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6. It has less weight, though. Exactly how much less we're not sure, since Alfa hasn't revealed that number, but a regular Stelvio weighs right around 4,000 pounds, so we would guess the weight is similar, possibly a little more. View 14 Photos The differences in how each SUV achieves its performance should result in pretty different driving characteristics, and probably different buyers. Each SUV's bragging points also indicates this. The Trackhawk boasts an impressive 11.6-second claimed quarter-mile time, something that American muscle car fans everywhere care about. The Alfa brags about how it's the fastest production SUV to lap the Nurburgring, something sure to impress fans of foreign cars and those that value handling over straight-line performance. So really, although these two SUVs have performance similarities, they're also very different, and the right one for you depends on what you value. View 29 Photos Also, as an afterthought, we wonder if the guys that attempted a Viper record at the 'Ring would be up for trying to break the Alfa time with the Jeep.
