1994 Jeep Cherokee Country Sport Utility 2-door 4.0l on 2040-cars
Austin, Texas, United States
NOT your typical 20 year old vehicle!!!
Bought this just a couple months ago, cuz I wanted a smaller vehicle than the pickup I've been driving. I LOVE this vehicle, but after driving it for a few days, I realized that I need a bigger vehicle and need to keep my pickup. I just need to have the ability to carry more stuff than the Jeep can carry. In the last couple of months since I bought it, I have done the following to it: 4 New Tires and Front End Alignment(Less than 500 Miles on the new tires) New Keyless Remote Security Alarm New Pioneer Stereo and 4 New Pioneer Speakers New Headliner Replaced Valve Cover Gasket New Turn Signal Lever Also, previous owner had just recently replaced both Power Window Motors and the Catalytic Converter. Bought this off Ebay from a guy in Southern California, and drove it 1300 miles back home with no problems! A RUST-FREE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA VEHICLE WITH ONLY 122000 ORIGINAL MILES ON THE POPULAR 4.0 LITER INLINE 6 ENGINE!!!!! These engines have a reputation of going 200000 to 300000 miles or more if maintained properly. This vehicle is ready to go, and I would jump in it right now and go anywhere! But there are a couple of minor things I want to make sure you're aware of, in order to be totally honest with you. The low and high speed windshield wipers work, but the intermittent wipers do not work. There is an intermittent wiper module that's very easy to get to under the dash, that I think(hope) is the problem. Based on research I did online, they(module) tend to go out. By the way, here in Texas, it passed inspection without intermittent wipers - as long as the regular wipers work, you're fine. The other thing is there is a very minor oil leak. Looks like the rear main oil seal and maybe the front crankshaft seal. That's why I replaced the Valve Cover Gasket, cuz I knew it was leaking from there. The 4.0 engine is a good engine, but it's also known to sometimes leak oil at these locations. It's the kind of leak where you may have a spot of oil underneath the vehicle after it's been parked a while. I did not have to put any oil in it when I drove it back from California - or since I've owned it! Like any oil leak, one day it will have to be fixed, but I wanna stress this is no big deal(majority of vehicles out there probably leak a little oil), I just want to be honest with you about everything. I know what it's like to buy a vehicle that's far away, and you can't touch it, feel it, etc. Like I said, I'd jump in it right now and go anywhere in it. Note the chrome front grille, side mirrors, and back bumper! You don't see that much on these vehicles. It's not a new vehicle, obviously, but it's in very good shape for it's age. Also have a car cover to go with it. |

Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk and a Final Four of automakers | Autoblog Podcast #723
Fri, Apr 1 2022In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski. We start out with news on the Lotus Eletre and Ferrari Purosangue. These two high-end crossovers are followed by discussions about the new inline-six engines from Stellantis and an overabundance of Hummer EV orders. Next we try something we've never tried before: ranking automaker blue bloods. We took inspiration from the current NCAA tournament, which features Duke, North Carolina, Villanova and Kansas — very much traditional blue-blood basketball programs — to name our Final Four automakers. Let us know if you agree or disagree with our picks and what your definition of a blue blood car brand is. We wrap up with a discussion about the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk that Jeremy's been driving all week. Send us your questions for the Mailbag and Spend My Money at: Podcast@Autoblog.com. 2014 Jeep Patriot and Compass ditch CVT for six-speed auto
Mon, 07 Jan 2013It was reported in Automotive News a few months ago, but a new report on Allpar.com adds some details to news that the 2014 Jeep Compass and Patriot will get a six-speed automatic to replace the CVTs they currently use. According to a tip provided to Allpar, the 2014 models will begin production in March and be on sale sometime in the summer. The Jatco-sourced CVT in use until now - Jatco is owned by Nissan and Mitsubishi - has been often criticized, and many won't be sad to see it go.
The incoming six-speed automatic is said to be an all-wheel-drive cog-swapper that's the work of Hyundai and Magna and has been paired with the DynaMax AWD system used in the Hyundai ix35 and Kia Sportage. It won't be the only Chrysler product using a transmission with ties to Hyundai: the six-speed automatic in the Dodge Dart comes from Powertech, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hyundai. With the Patriot and Compass said to be driving down the trail for the last time this year, it will be a short run for the new tranny and the rumored addition of a backup camera and power rear liftgate on the Compass.
FCA spends $1.5 billion to retool plant for Ram production
Tue, Jul 26 2016Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is planning to invest $1.48 billion to retool its Sterling Heights Assembly plant in metro Detroit to build the next generation of the Ram 1500. The investment will allow the assembly plant to go from unibody to body-on-frame construction. FCA also confirmed that production of the Chrysler 200 will end in December in order for the plant to be altered. As previously reported, FCA is looking to move production of the 1500 from its current assembly plant in Warren to the Sterling Heights Assembly plant (both are in Michigan). While FCA has not released any official plans for the Warren Truck Assembly Plant, Automotive News reports that the plant will be retooled to manufacture the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs. Earlier this month, FCA announced plans to invest $1.05 billion to retool the Jeep Wrangler factory. FCA's current investment plans are part of the automaker's push to put competitive products on the road.
