1991 Jeep Cherokee
I've owned the Jeep since 1999, when it had 91k miles on it. It was my high school and college vehicle so it was very well taken care of. Once college was over, it turned into what it is today. I've grown out of the off road scene and haven't had it on a trail in 4 years. I recently upgraded the brakes and steering to make it more drive-able on the road, but with a baby on the way it's not practical. I'd like to see it go to someone who will take care of it and enjoy it. In my opinion the Jeep Cherokee is one of the best vehicles I've seen, the 4.0L is solid and very tough. WJ knuckle conversion Abekono dual piston front brakes (WJ rotors are 1" larger in diameter than stock XJ) Heim joint custom steering, with drop pitman arm, Currie Enterprises track bar and steering box brace. Front TJ tow hooks no sway bars New battery (May 2013) Engine runs smooth (other than when the tank is low), oil always changed at 3k miles, crank shaft position sensor replaced recently, always reliable, always starts and always runs. There is some body damage on driver's side front fender, door and above door. Doesn't affect function. And I have a red door and fender from a 1992 sport that we can negotiate into the cost if wanted. Tires need balanced for speeds over 60mph. A/C compressor works, but needs charged. Drivers side motor mount needs to be replaced ($12 part). Rough idle when tank is low, tank may have some rust in the bottom that causes hesitation. Not consistent and only when tank is low. Kenwood stereo doesn't work. I have been driving it to work once or twice a week, so the mileage is going up (200 miles a week). It does ok on the highway, but the tires will need to be balanced. Jeep reveals annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari concepts
Wed, 20 Mar 2013Jeep has unveiled its annual spate of concepts before the Easter Jeep Safari. Those start with the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk Concept (below left), complete with the company's EcoDiesel V6 engine. Designers threw in a set of 35-inch Mickey Thompson tires wrapped around 17-inch Rubicon wheels, and a set of custom fender flares help keep all that rubber under wraps.
Meanwhile, the Wrangler Mopar Recon (below right) packs a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 good for 470 horsepower. All that grunt gets to the ground via a five-speed automatic transmission and a set of a Dana 60 axles frond and rear with 4.10 gears. The Recon also makes use of a 4.5-inch prototype long-arm kit and a set of prototype eight-lug bead lock wheels.
The Wrangler Stitch (below left) builds on the momentum of the Wrangler Pork Chop Concept. Engineers once again set out to strike as much weight as possible from the vehicle, and actually managed to trim the curb weight down to 3,000 pounds. That effort has given the machine the same power to weight ratio as the Grand Cherokee SRT8. Plenty of carbon fiber, door deletes and a chrome moly roll cage all help trim those pounds, and a set of DanyTrac Pro Rock 44 axles with 4.88 gears and ARB lockers front and rear let this machine scramble over whatever is in its path.
FCA spends $1.5 billion to retool plant for Ram production
Tue, Jul 26 2016Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is planning to invest $1.48 billion to retool its Sterling Heights Assembly plant in metro Detroit to build the next generation of the Ram 1500. The investment will allow the assembly plant to go from unibody to body-on-frame construction. FCA also confirmed that production of the Chrysler 200 will end in December in order for the plant to be altered. As previously reported, FCA is looking to move production of the 1500 from its current assembly plant in Warren to the Sterling Heights Assembly plant (both are in Michigan). While FCA has not released any official plans for the Warren Truck Assembly Plant, Automotive News reports that the plant will be retooled to manufacture the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs. Earlier this month, FCA announced plans to invest $1.05 billion to retool the Jeep Wrangler factory. FCA's current investment plans are part of the automaker's push to put competitive products on the road.
