1983 Jeep Cherokee in the "Pioneer" Trim Package.  This truck is a 4-Door, unusual for a Full Size Jeep (FSJ) Cherokee, so, its kind of like a Wagoneer without the woodgrain sides.  This Jeep also has a factory 4-Speed Manual transmission and a factory sunroof.  So, between the 4-Speed, the 4-Door, and the Pioneer, that makes the rig a pretty rare build from AMC, which is why I bought it.  I traveled down to Texas to get this Jeep back in 2010, planned to combine it with a Wagoneer I had at the time, but I have just not had the chance to put much work into it.  I actually sold this Jeep on Ebay a few months back, but the buyer, at the time, had second thoughts, so here it is up for auction again, your chance to own a piece of AMC/Jeep History  Now this Jeep does run & drive, but I would consider it a "project" vehicle.  Below are some bullet points;

  • 290,400 miles on what I believe to be the original AMC 360
  • There is no starting battery included with this rig, but I'll have one available at pick-up so that you can hear that motor purr.
  • The power steering pump pulley has been removed and will not be included (it was donated for another FSJ project).  So right now steering this thing is a fine upper body workout.
  • The headliner is gone and will need to be replaced if you want one
  • There are several dents around the exterior of the vehicle (refer to photographs)
  • Glass is in good shape all around
  • The rear tailgate glass regulator is bent and does not lift the glass properly.  As a result, the rear glass is removed, but two pieces of rear glass are included with the auction.
  • The interior is good and bad, most of the passenger seats are pretty good, but the driver's seat is trashed, and the carpet in the rear is pretty bad.
  • Factory glass sunroof installed.
  • There is no grill included, what you see in the photos is what you get.

I have always loved FSJ's, so I may be a little bias, but this would be a really great rig to work on, all the basics are there.  I could see either doing a full restoration or turning it into one bad 4 wheeler.  I'm easy to work with on the sale, I could store it for a little while after the auction (pending 100% payment), and I may be able to help you ship it as well.  We have a lot of flatbed trucks heading all over the country from my workplace on a daily basis.  I even sent one of my Wagoneers to Holland a few years back.  Email me with nay questions.  The Jeep has a clear Colorado Title.

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT gets power increase, minor tweaks for 2015

Tue, 02 Sep 2014

As a brand within Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, SRT may have an uncertain future, but it's pumping out some seriously mean machines anyway. The supercharged Hellcat V8 may be gobbling up most of the headlines with its 707 horsepower, but even the Grand Cherokee SRT is getting some small updates for the 2015 model year.
Most importantly for many enthusiasts, the Grand Cherokee SRT is getting a slight power bump. Don't expect the 700+ hp from the Hellcat, but this SUV sees a modest 5-hp and 5-pound-feet of torque improvement to bring output to 475 hp and 470 lb-ft for its 6.4-liter V8 with an eight-speed automatic. The minor change doesn't change the sprint to 60 miles per hour, clocking in at the same 4.8 seconds, or the tow rating at 7,200 pounds. Still, more grunt is never a bad idea.
Another new addition is the Active Noise Canceling system as a standard feature for this powerful SUV. It adds four microphones around the vehicle and uses the stereo system to nullify extraneous sound. However, Jeep claims that the meaty exhaust note from the V8 still gets through into the cabin for driver enjoyment.

Chrysler extending production of current Dodge Avenger, Jeep Wrangler, Grand Caravan

Wed, 24 Jul 2013

Are you hesitant to pull the trigger on a brand new Dodge Avenger in hopes that a new one will be coming? Well, don't hold your breath. According to The Detroit News, Chrysler will be extending production of the current Avenger sedan through the end of 2015.
Originally, we heard that the company would kill the Avenger to better focus its midsize sedan efforts on the Chrysler 200 replacement. But then new reports stated there would indeed be an Avenger successor, and that we could see it as early as next January. This Detroit News report cites supplier sources confirming the extension of Avenger production, though Chrysler has not released an official statement on the matter.
These same suppliers say that the current Jeep Wrangler will live on through mid-2018 - that's right, another five years. The Detroit News reports that a replacement for the iconic, go-anywhere Jeep was due in mid-2016.

2013 Jeep Wrangler Moab Edition

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

There will forever be a soft spot in my heart for the Jeep Wrangler. The last one I owned was red, and, as a 1990 model, had the square headlights derided by Jeep enthusiasts who grew up on the Civilian Jeeps that descended from their General Purpose military ancestors. As a teenager, I couldn't have cared less what shape its headlights happened to be - to me, a Jeep Wrangler represented freedom; a carefree do-it-all machine equally at home with the top stowed away in the summer or with the heater on full blast in the snowy clutches of Old Man Winter. In Dr. Seuss parlance, my square-headlighted Sneetch was just as worthy as any round-headlighted Sneetch.
All that said, I'll be the first person to advise against buying a Jeep Wrangler of any sort for owners who don't plan to use it as its makers intend. There's no good reason to punish yourself with a stiff and springy ride, a loud and somewhat drafty (though generally water-resistant) interior or the poor fuel economy expected of a block-shaped vehicle if you don't enjoy its other, more exciting benefits.
Of course, Jeep has done its darndest over the years to make the Wrangler as civilized as possible while keeping it as capable as federal law will allow. The 2013 Jeep Wrangler Moab edition is one of Jeep's latest attempts to attract attention from the upper reaches of the active lifestyle set, and I spent a week with one to see what makes the Moab special.
