Cj7: 5.0l Engine, 5 Spd, 4x4, Lift, Winch, Stereo, Both Quick & Fun, $50k Build! on 2040-cars
Conroe, Texas, United States
1976 Jeep CJ7 - This is a very well known Jeep around Houston where its builders/owners have lived since restoration. Our dealership has had the pleasure of offering it up for sale twice and as the owner of the dealership I've STRONGLY thought about just keeping this one! This unique CJ7 received a $50k+ body-off restoration in 2007 which does not include an 11 speaker sound system that was added later. For starters, the powertrain is a 1987 Mustang 5.0L paired to a Chevy 1 ton 5 Spd transmission with a custom transfer case (CDI). During the engine rebuild aluminum pistons, dart heads, & oversized injectors were installed. This Jeep sounds tough and is as fast as you're thinking. The extensive list of options, features, and upgrades includes; Complete new suspension, Strange Axles, Custom Powder Coated Bumpers, Tow Package, Center Console Storage, Headers, 2.5" MagnaFlow Dual Exhaust, Hard & Soft Doors, BeCool Aluminum Radiator, Ranch Shocks, New Steering Box, Warn Winch, GT Grant Steering Wheel, MSD Ignition, Wan Lock-in Hubs, Optima Battery, Rhino Lined Interior, Autometer Tach & Water Temp Gauges, Bikini Top, Car Cover, Alpine CDA-105 CD Player, Alpine Amp, 12" Sub, (10) additional Polk & Infiniti Speakers, 15" Eagle Alloy Chrome Outlaws, and BF Goodrich Mudd-Terrain T/As!

Chrysler recalling hundreds of thousands of Jeep Grand Cherokee and Commander SUVs
Wed, 23 Jul 2014The public might associated ignition switch recalls with General Motors - and with good cause - but that's not the only automaker calling its vehicles back in to fix that sort of issue.
Last month we reported that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration was investigating an array of Chrysler Group vehicles for electrical-related safety issues. The administration and Chrysler subsequently issued a recall for 700,000 Dodge Journey crossovers, Dodge Grand Caravan minivans and Chrysler Town & Country minivans. But while the Jeeps that were also under investigation were not covered in that recall, they are being addressed in a separate one now.
Although Chrysler reports that it is only aware of a single accident stemming from this issue, it is "committing now to conduct a recall out of an abundance of caution." The recall affects the 2006-2007 Jeep Commander and 2005-2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee, of which it reports there are 792,300 on the road: 649,900 in the United States, 28,800 in Canada, 12,800 in Mexico and a further 100,800 outside of North America.
Jeepster name may be used for Fiat-based baby Jeep
Tue, 17 Dec 2013In 1948, Willys-Overland, the forbearers of Jeep, built a vehicle called the Jeepster. It was a funky little thing, designed as a mix of the more rugged Jeeps that came before with what was then a modern car, which arguably makes it the world's first crossover. The name was later revived from 1966 to 1972, which means for Jeep enthusiasts, it has some history.
Now, the modern Jeep brand may revive the Jeepster name for a new product, likely based on Fiat bones, that will slot in at the bottom of the brand's range underneath the soon-to-depart Compass and Patriot. The report comes from Australia's Drive, which cites a dealer source that has seen the vehicle.
That same dealer confirmed there is a link between the Jeepster and the rumored Fiat 500X, and that the former will be available in both front and all-wheel-drive variants. The source also claims both gas and diesel engines will be available, although as this is an Aussie site, we shouldn't take that to mean we'll get a diesel Jeepster in the US.
Are we about to see a real SUV revival?
Wed, Mar 23 2016Now that the marketplace has been oversaturated with cute-utes, crossovers, and CUV coupes, are we about to see a resurgence of real, honest-to-God SUVs? Ummm... maybe. The stars seem to be aligning in that direction, at least that's the sense I'm getting. We know an all-new Jeep Wrangler is only a few auto shows away; and that Jeep is about to introduce a new Grand Cherokee Trailhawk for 2017, in the same rugged spirit of the successful Cherokee and Renegade Trailhawks. Ford has hinted at a neo-Bronco, after showing the concept above in 2014 to wet the mouths of all those Duck Dynasty-types out there. And, and... wait for it... I recently learned that Subaru sent a questionnaire out to some Forester owners asking if they might be interested in an off-road package if it were offered. The items listed were pretty hardcore, serious stuff, such as: integrated tow/recovery hooks, additional ground clearance, more rugged wheels, skid plates, altimeter, front-view off-road camera, improved approach and departure angles, advanced differentials, Inclinometer, full-size spare tire, upgraded off-road suspension components, more aggressive tires, off-road driving mode (engine, transmission, throttle, and steering settings), more rugged styling, low-range gearing, and a more advanced traction management system. Folks that's not my wish list (well, actually it is), but those are words from Subaru, asking if that's what customers would like to see. Need proof? Go to the SubaruForester.org website. It's in a discussion there. So... no promises or guarantees here, and feel free to call me a rumormonger if you like; but the next few years could prove very interesting for those who actually do go off road. If this pans out, remember, you read it here first. Related Video: Image Credit: Ford Ford Jeep Subaru Crossover SUV Off-Road Vehicles open road
