This Jeep is only of significant value in California. Finding CJ7's with legal V8 conversions is rare in California and the previous owner spent $8,500 on the engine/transmission conversion.

So far I've only had one person come and look at the Jeep. They liked it but said it had too much motor for them. Can you ever have too much power?

I bought this in 2006 and have rarely driven it since then. The gal I bought it from used it as a commuter and rarely took it off road. She also spent gobs of money on it and almost everything on this Jeep has been replaced or rebuilt. The front seats are the only item I see that reflects 366,000 miles.

No rust.

40,000 since a 1991 Throttle Body 5.7 Liter Chevy Truck motor was installed. This installation is smog legal in California.

Vintage brand aftermarket air conditioning. The system is a recirculation type system so the intake vent was sealed off as shown in one of the photos. The seal job was poorly done but could easily be cleaned up. The previous owner paid $1600 for the A.C. unit.

33" BFG mud terrains. I checked the date codes and one is a KO style from 2004 and the other three tires are the older style mud terrains and are from 1995-1998. They have been in the garage most of the time and I don't see any dry rot. They came off another Jeep that I had parted out and four wheeled pretty hard. The tires are somewhat cut up from rocks and hitting the previous Jeep's fenders but have at least 75% tread left.

The spare is a 33" Goodyear and has 95% tread and is date code 2002. The spare will be loose because the rack is not mounted.

The wheels are steel/chrome and a bit banged up on the edges because they were on my other Jeep. The spare is aluminum.

Trail Quest extra 23 gallon extra capacity fuel tank. The previous owner told me it's 23 gallons. I suspect it's 20 gallons.

Notebook with all major records and conversion receipts/notes.

The steering wheel in the photos will be replaced with a new one. I have an emotional attachment to the one shown. I can also let you buy your own. I'll give a $125 credit if this is desired and you can ship my wheel back to me.

I bought a Warn rear bumper and tire rack that I never installed. It will come with the vehicle but will need to be installed by the buyer.

The old original spare tire mounting holes are shown in three of the photos. The Warn bumper/rack mount to the frame and not to the body.

One of the photos of the left rear quarter panel shows where I tried to sand out a emblem someone had painted on the Jeep. The paint is thin there and the gloss is gone.

The vehicle has two small oil leaks. I would consider them more seeps than leaks because it's probably close to a drop a day from each spot. There's no way to tell but the oil spot on the concrete is only about 1.5 inches in diameter over the course of a few weeks. 3 or 4 inches over the course of 6 months or a year. Also, the fuel gauges works but is not correct, i.e. it moves but 1/2 tank mark is not actually 1/2 tank.

FCA and UAW deal could mean huge production shakeups

The big labor contract between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and the United Auto Workers is likely to lead to some very serious production shakeups across the company's North American manufacturing operations. That's according to a new report from Automotive News, which details the sweeping changes at no fewer than five production facilities in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Mexico, and Poland. So without further ado, here's what's going where, presented in easy to digest bullet form. Ram 1500 production would move from Warren, MI to Sterling Heights, MI Warren, MI would be retooled for unibody production and would handle the Jeep Grand Wagoneer and could potentially build Grand Cherokees to ease the strain on Detroit's Jefferson North factory Chrysler 200 production would move from Sterling Heights, MI to Toluca, Mexico Dodge Dart production would move from Belvidere, IL to Toluca, Mexic Fiat 500 production, which is currently handled by Toluca, would be concentrated in Poland, where the Euro-spec Cinquecento is built Jeep Cherokee production would move from Toledo, OH to Belvidere, IL to make room for Wrangler and Wrangler Pickup production Like we said, those are some big changes. But, as FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne said in an earlier interview with Automotive News, this kind of shakeup would make a lot of sense. In that August interview the exec said that automakers moved truck production to Mexico because they were "threatened" by the UAW. "The only thing [the UAW] want is to move the truck back. Which is right. If you move the truck back here, which is [the UAW's] domain, [and move] all the cars that we get killed on somewhere else, we could actually make sense of this bloody industry and actually increase the number of people employed in this country and really share wealth because we are making money," Marchionne told AN. 2014 Jeep Cherokee dreams of Moab, crawls on stage [w/video]

The all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee inched its way onto the stage at the New York Auto Show today, proving that at least the "Trail Rated" version of the SUV is more than just a controversial unique odd fresh face in the mid-size segment. After the short, simulated Moab run by the Trailhawk model, the gray four-door was joined on the stage by a burgundy Limited model - the luxurious highway variant.
As a recap, the all-new 2014 Cherokee rides atop a modular Alfa Romeo-derived platform (we know it from the Dodge Dart) and will be offered in both front- and all-wheel drive models with a choice between a 2.4-liter four-cylinder (rated at 184 horsepower) and a new 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 (developing 271 horsepower) engine. A nine-speed automatic is standard and no less than three different all-wheel drive systems are available.
Of the four different models (Sport, Latitude, Limited, and Trailhawk), we like the rugged looks and capabilities offered by the Trailhawk the best.
