If you have been looking for a CJ-7 you have found your Jeep. 1986 was the last year of the CJ's and it was the best year made. This Jeep came from the factory with a Hardtop and Hard Doors (which are included in the sale), a 4.2 L/258 cu in Inline 6, Dana 44 Rear Axle and Dana 30 Front Axle. I purchased this Jeep as the third owner in 2001 and completely rebuilt the Jeep. I have only put 25,000 miles on the Jeep and believe there is no significant mechanical portion of the Jeep that has not been rebuilt or replaced. This Jeep comes with 3 tops (Hardtop/Hard Doors, Besttop Softtop and Soft Doors, & Bikini Top.) The interior is Rhinolined and it has Wet Okole neoprene seat covers front and rear. The rear seat is factory original, the fronts are Besttop high back seat. The jeep is the original metal tub and associated parts (windshield, hood, etc.) and there is no active rust or perforation issues. The Jeep was repainted in 2001 and is garage kept. The mechanical goodies are listed below and pay special attention to the custom bumper and features associated with that. Also, look at the spare parts that come with the Jeep, tow strap, fuel and water cans, ammo cans to hold parts/gear, fire extinguishers, etc., you are ready to go on an extended woods trip the day you buy the Jeep. Jurassic Park made a big impact on these Jeep drivers
Thu, 12 Jun 2014For a certain cohort of young folks, Jurassic Park is a touchstone film from their childhood. Not only did it play into practically every little boy's love of dinosaurs, the movie included some great action scenes and special effects that still hold up today. In its latest video, The Aficionauto takes a look the Jurassic Park Motor Pool, a California car club with over 40 fans who created replica vehicles from the iconic film.
The club is made up of an interesting cross-section of people. Many of them were Jeep Wrangler fans that already loved off-roading and Jurassic Park, and liked the idea of bringing them together. Like any close-knit club, it ends up being about community and people coming together to share their interests. It's quite a heartwarming video. FCA goes all-in on Jeep and Ram brands on cheap gas bet
Wed, Jan 27 2016It's no surprise that as SUV and truck sales remain strong in the wake of unusually cheap gas, Jeep and Ram sales are taking off. What is a surprise is that FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne thinks that cheap gas will be a "permanent condition," and feels strongly enough about it to change up North American manufacturing plans. Jeep appears to be the biggest beneficiary of the product realignment. In addition to increasing the sales estimates for the brand worldwide upwards to 2 million units a year by 2018, the brand will get a flood of investment for new product and powertrains. Consider the Wrangler Pickup to be part of the salvo, as well as the Grand Wagoneer three-row announced in 2014 as part of the original five-year plan. The Wrangler four-door will get at least two new powertrains, a diesel and mild hybrid version, in its next generation. That mild hybrid powertrain may utilize a 48-volt electrical system like the one that's being developed by Delphi and Bosch – which the suppliers think will be worth a 10 to 15 percent fuel economy gain at a minimum. Down the road, in the 2020s, the Wrangler could adopt a full hybrid system. The diesel powertrain is planned for 2019 or 2020. The Ram 1500 is also pegged to receive a mild hybrid system, again potentially based on 48-volt architecture, sometime after 2020. Lastly, Jeep and Ram will take over some of the production capacity of existing plants. The Sterling Heights, MI, plant that builds the Chrysler 200 will now build the Ram 1500; the Belvidere, IL, facility that produces the Dodge Dart will take over Cherokee output; the big Jeep facility in Toledo, OH, will be used for increased Wrangler demand. In 2015, according to FCA's numbers, car and van demand went down by 10 percent, but SUV demand went up 8 percent and truck demand 2 percent. Considering that these are high-margin vehicles, FCA can't ignore the math. FCA also won't build any new factories to supplement production to meet demand, but instead are reshuffling production priorities. Think of it this way: FCA is gambling on cheap gas being a permanent part of our lives, at least into the 2020s. By doubling down on SUVs and trucks, the company stands to win big, unless a spike in gas prices changes the landscape. FCA isn't talking about a Plan B, so they're all in. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
Jeep's new Chip Away commercial has us hunting Al Pacino's back catalog
Tue, 19 Feb 2013Chrysler has done a pretty good job as of late turning its television commercials into pep talks or rallying cries, but for its first ad for the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, it turned to Al Pacino's inspirational speech from the movie Any Given Sunday. In the movie, Pacino's character talks about how football is a game of inches, but the commercial, titled Chip Away, focuses more on the attention to detail that Jeep has exhibited on its updated flagship SUV.
Centering around the newest Grand Cherokee model, the luxurious $47,995 Summit trim level, the commercial shows off some of the hand-stitched leathers and real metal and wood accents found inside the cabin. Check out the new 60-second spot by scrolling below.
