Up for auction is this 1985 Jeep CJ7 , 304 V8 , 4 speed transmission , 4x4 ! I bought this Jeep 4 years ago as a project and toy for my son and I , and have been improving on it ever since . The engine is a 304 ci V-8 that is in great shape , cranks and runs like a new one . the 4 speed transmission has no issues , shifts fine with no slack . Front and rear differential  have been serviced and are in good working order . The front knuckles  and all related joints in the front steering have been replaced along with the brakes on all 4 corners and the master cylinder and booster . The front hubs have been completely rebuilt with Warn components . All in all , the complete drivetrain has been completely refreshed . The Jeep has 38.5 " tires on new black steel wheels , the front and rear bumpers are custom built for the Jeep along with the custom tubular running board/step bar .The body was smoothed and painted a shiny black with basecoat/clearcoat , along with the hardtop and interior , a bikini top is also included with the Jeep . This would be a great Jeep for a Hunter , Fisherman or just somebody that wanted to have fun on the beach or in the mud , I wouldn't be afraid to drive it anywhere . I originally bought it to interact with my son , but he has fooled around and grown up now ! Graduated High School , Joined the National Guard and will be starting college at LSU in the spring , so it's time for the Jeep to go . It's been a source of fun and good times for us and now maybe someone else can pick up where we left off . Thanks and Happy Bidding !

Happy 50th birthday, Jeep Wagoneer

Thu, 02 May 2013

The Wagoneer got the SUV on the radar of buyers looking for something capable, comfortable and rugged.
The Jeep Wagoneer was introduced 50 years ago, and it's that vehicle we have to thank for the herds of excellent crossovers and SUVs that make up our current automotive landscape. On a personal level, I have always loved the full-size Jeeps and their crisp Brooks Stevens styling, which aged well over their long tenure on the market. The SJs, as they're known among enthusiasts, were the Wagoneer and its two-door counterpart, the original Cherokee. The Wagoneers had become true luxury vehicles by the end of their run, which stretched form late 1962 as a '63 model all the way to 1991, when they were offered exclusively under the Grand Wagoneer nameplate.

NHTSA investigating why Jeep recall fix is taking so long

Mon, 07 Jul 2014

Jeep's saga with the National Traffic Safety Administration and the voluntary campaign to repair 1.56 million vehicles for allegedly unsafe trailer hitches, is getting yet another chapter. The controversy appeared to finally be over in January when the automaker found a supplier for the replacement parts. Nothing is ever that easy, though, and the government regulator is now requesting documents from the company to clarify why the repairs are taking so long to begin.
Jeep parent company Chrysler has until July 16 to submit documents and answers to NHTSA explaining the situation. The regulator claims that despite its compromise to inspect and repair the models with improper hitches in June 2013, Chrysler didn't find a part supplier until December and didn't order the replacements until January. The government agency believes that the first components weren't manufactured until May of this year and vehicles may not actually be repaired until as late as August. According to the report, if the Chrysler doesn't supply what NHTSA is asking for, the agency could "take additional appropriate action as warranted."
Throughout this entire process, Chrysler has asserted that the vehicles met the applicable crash test standards of the time, and it has kept NHTSA abreast of the repair activity. In a recently released statement it said that the regulator analyzed eight rear impact reconstruction tests and found the replacement hitch to be safe. To keep up with the high demand for replacements, Chrysler is working with multiple suppliers, and they are running three shifts, six days a week to get the parts ready as soon as possible.
