Clearwater, Florida, United States

This here is a very authentic , and Original Rare CJ 8 Scrambler, it came with a factory AC and Power Steering, its Not been screwed around with huge tires and Lift kits, its original and a real pleasure to see and appreciate as it was and is. It's got a Straight Six cylinder motor and a 4 speed Manual tranny. 4WD works great. It has a clear title. The AC needs older Freon to charge, I just don't have access to that. The power Steering works great. Its original and not restored and it still looks grand. Its 30 years old and being realistic will be appreciated, paint is apprx. four years old and looks and shines good, priced to sell and not to play games, just look around and do a search. What you see in the pics is what you're getting and I think you'll appreciate the value of it in person even more. If interested send an email through ebay with your phone number so I know you're serious, and I'll call you promptly and even take a Serious offer and put a BIN price so you hit it thru ebay. The Reserve price is lowered significantly and reflects what my offering was to a prospective buyer. I'm sorry I just don't want to waste time considering ridiculous offers so please don't make any. Thanks for your consideration.

Tow Bar Set Up Sold Separately for $250.00. I'm sure you can buy one yourself cheaper somewhere.

Revised Simple payment terms ::  You or your Trusted party comes, puts their hands on the Jeep, pays cash, takes possession of title and the Jeep and takes her to Wichita. Old school but still the best practice. I will not fray from this so please don't suggest anything else like send me the title and I'll send you half and then when the item is picked up the rest will come etc.

There are some great Photos of the vehicle over and under and they should speak for themselves. The peeling you see in the undercarriage pics Is Paint Peeling Off, I took a Pressure Washer to It so it WOULD Peel Off so one can see underneath it and in some places as you can see its still hanging, please don't email me asking is that rust ?  its not.

Will it make a long trip of say a thousand miles ....?  how does one really answer that for a 30 year old "toy" purchase with a full level of confidence, I guess it will make that trip...........or you may have to explain to your wife why you're still 800 miles away from Wichita at a truck stop and why it was so imminently important to buy this 30 year old classic Jeep out of juniors college fund and put it on a long long road trip from day one without getting comfortable with it, make your own judgment :).

Please read all given information on the Jeep including condition information plus the photos and follow payment instructions, Payment instructions are simple !!!  Cash in person or by your shipper or whoever and that's that, sorry if you cant just don't bid. The Scrambler can be stored for a reasonable amount of time if you need to so no worries. Will help in loading or making things easier for your shipper.  If you use the Tow Bar all you need is another vehicle with a 2" ball and youre all set, No trailer required.

NHTSA investigating 630k Jeep Wranglers for possible airbag fault

Wed, Jun 24 2015

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening a preliminary evaluation into a possible wiring problem on some 2007-2012 Jeep Wrangler models that could affect airbag deployment. The government agency has 221 complaints alleging that the airbag warning light is illuminating, and that could indicate that the safety devices might not deploy in a crash. If a recall is necessary, an estimated 630,000 vehicles could be affected. According to the documents from NHTSA (as a PDF here), a "faulty clockspring assembly in the driver side airbag electrical circuit" could be the culprit. Also, some of the affected Wranglers are showing a fault code that indicates the safety device wouldn't deploy in an accident. However at this time, there are no reports of injuries related to this potential problem. NHTSA's preliminary evaluations are simply meant to investigate and don't necessarily lead to a recall. This isn't the first time for a potential problem like this on the Wrangler, though. A clockspring issue already led to a safety campaign for 2008-2012 right-hand drive Wranglers and an extended warranty for 2007 left-hand drive examples. Several complaints cite the following diagnostic trouble code (DTC): Code B1B02 Open Squib to driver's air bag. This DTC would indicate a no-fire condition (disablement) for the driver air bag. ODI investigated the RHD (right hand drive) Wrangler for a clockspring issue under PE11-019 which led to NHTSA Recall 11V258 on model year (MY) 2008-2012 RHD Wranglers as well as an extended warranty campaign on MY 2007 LHD Wrangler vehicles. This investigation covers the MY07-12 LHD (left hand drive) Wranglers.

Dodge and Jeep recalling 895k SUVs for possibility of headliner fires

Fri, 11 Jul 2014

Dodge and Jeep are announcing recalls of a total of 895,000 Durango and Grand Cherokee models worldwide from the 2011 through 2014 model years. There's a possibility that the wiring in the sun visor can short circuit and cause a fire. It specifically affects vehicles built between January 5, 2010, and December 11, 2013, and there are approximately 651,000 of them in the US, 45,700 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico and 175,000 outside of North America.
Screws that fasten the sunvisor to the headliner may pierce wires in the visor, if the part has been removed or serviced, potentially causing a fire risk. If the wires short circuit, they could overheat and potentially combust. The automakers report three injuries caused by this defect, and according to the investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, "there may be a total of 52 unique fire incidents."
To fix the problem, Dodge and Jeep will inspect the vehicles for suspect wiring, and all of the models, whether damaged or not, will get a new sun visor spacer with a wire guide to stop the possibility of short circuits. According to the automakers' announcement, "this condition is not present in vehicles which have not had the headliner or vanity mirror serviced." They will notify affected owners, and repairs will begin in August.

EV cost burden pushing automakers to their limits, says Stellantis' CEO Tavares

Wed, Dec 1 2021

DETROIT — Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said external pressure on automakers to quickly shift to electric vehicles potentially threatens jobs and vehicle quality as producers struggle with EVs' higher costs. Governments and investors want car manufacturers to speed up the transition to electric vehicles, but the costs are "beyond the limits" of what the auto industry can sustain, Tavares said in an interview at the Reuters Next conference released Wednesday. "What has been decided is to impose on the automotive industry electrification that brings 50% additional costs against a conventional vehicle," he said. "There is no way we can transfer 50% of additional costs to the final consumer because most parts of the middle class will not be able to pay." Automakers could charge higher prices and sell fewer cars, or accept lower profit margins, Tavares said. Those paths both lead to cutbacks. Union leaders in Europe and North America have warned tens of thousands of jobs could be lost. Automakers need time for testing and ensuring that new technology will work, Tavares said. Pushing to speed that process up "is just going to be counter productive. It will lead to quality problems. It will lead to all sorts of problems," he said. Tavares said Stellantis is aiming to avoid cuts by boosting productivity at a pace far faster than industry norm. "Over the next five years we have to digest 10% productivity a year ... in an industry which is used to delivering 2 to 3% productivity" improvement, he said. "The future will tell us who is going to be able to digest this, and who will fail," Tavares said. "We are putting the industry on the limits." Electric vehicle costs are expected to fall, and analysts project that battery electric vehicles and combustion vehicles could reach cost parity during the second half of this decade. Like other automakers that earn profits from combustion vehicles, Stellantis is under pressure from both establishment automakers such as GM, Ford, VW and Hyundai, as well as start-ups such as Tesla and Rivian. The latter electric vehicle companies are far smaller in terms of vehicle sales and employment. But investors have given Tesla and Rivian higher market valuations than the owner of the highly profitable Jeep and Ram brands. That investor pressure is compounded by government policies aimed at cutting greenhouse gas emissions. The European Union, California and other jurisdictions have set goals to end sales of combustion vehicles by 2035.
