PLEASE READ COMPLETE DESCRIPTION - 1984 Jeep CJ7 with a smooth running 304 V8 and a 3 Speed Manual Transmission. Features include: New Jeep Soft Top, American Racing Wheels with Road Tires, 6"Lift, Heavy Duty Front/Rear Bumpers, Roll Bar, Updated Paint, Original Steel Body, Spare Tire Mount, AM/FM/CD, Auxiliary Gauges, New Steering and Suspension Bushings, reworked suspension and lift, New exhaust and Headers.

The Jeep runs great with no unusual noises or issues. Runs very smooth at 70+MPH, Suspension and Drive Train are very solid with Warn Hubs and Operating Transfer Case, Brakes work fine although they are Drum.

In my opinion, the exterior and interior are both in great shape although the paint job is a little dated with minor cracks and rust bubbles on the lower quarter of the passenger side fender. No major rust or wear issues on the body. The Frame is very clean with no undercarriage issues. All lights and safety equipment work great. The top is new and tight. The interior is very clean and has newer seats although the seats do have some issues. The carpet is clean and the dash and gauges are all there although the speedometer and gas gauge is not operating.

The following are the minor problems with the Jeep
- Slight leak in the Clutch Master Cylinder
- Slight leak Power Steering
- A few cracks in the paint
- Shift gates are worn so shifter feels loose in gear (does not pop out of gear and does not have transmission issues)
- Turn signal switch works but is tight

The engine and transmission are in great shape and operate very smooth with no problems. The engine appears to have been rebuilt in the past and does not leak any fluids and does not have any operating issues.

Overall this is a very nice example of the CJ line with minimal issues and in very good operational and appearance condition, I always suggest that you have the Jeep inspected if there are any questions and this is a 30 year old vehicle so expect some minor faults and issues. The Jeep is driven regularly and is the condition is always complimented. I do have a clean and clear Illinois Title and it is currently licensed as an Historical Vehicle. I don't think you will find too many nicer CJ's in the country that run and look as nice as this one.

I will require a 30% deposit to be provided immediately upon auction conclusion with the balance due within 5 days. I can assist you in finding transport if needed although the Jeep can be driven anywhere,  This Jeep is being sold in 'As Is' condition without any implied warranty or guarantee and I strongly encourage a full inspection of the Jeep prior to placing your bid. I am not interested in creating any problems and have done my best to accurately describe the Jeep with the understanding that I am not a mechanic.

Auto critic calls out Corvette, Mustang and Cherokee faithful

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

Most automotive purists fear change, but not without reason. Change, after all, did kill big-block V8s, along with most station wagons and manual transmissions. But change has also brought with it far more performance, safety and fuel economy - not to mention ridding the world of shag carpet interiors, bias-ply tires and those horrible motorized seatbelts of the early '90s.
By this time next year, the Chevy Corvette, Jeep Cherokee and next-generation Ford Mustang will all be on sale and will all, in some way, have angered or offended purists. To those critics, Mark Phelan of the Detroit Free Press is preemptively telling them to stop complaining - at least until they've all been driven. From the Corvette's square taillights and the Cherokee's radical nose to whatever pony car purists will harp on the 2015 Mustang for, Phelan's column points out the positives of automotive evolution and the negatives of staying the course for too long. That's fair enough, but do you think Phelan is on point, or all wet? Head on over to the Detroit Free Press to read his words, then have your say in Comments.

Mixed sales results, but automaker stocks rise on need for cars in Houston

Fri, Sep 1 2017

DETROIT — The Big Three Detroit automakers on Friday reported better-than-expected August sales and issued optimistic outlooks for demand as residents of the Houston area replace flood-damaged cars and trucks after Hurricane Harvey, sending their stocks higher. General Motors, Ford and Fiat Chrysler posted mixed August U.S. sales, with GM up 7.5 percent and Ford and Fiat Chrysler down. Japanese automaker Toyota improved sales by nearly 7 percent, while Honda fell 2.4 percent. Still, analysts focused on the potential for Detroit automakers to cut inventories and stabilize used vehicle prices as residents of Houston, the fourth largest city in the United States, are forced to replace tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands, of vehicles after the devastation from Hurricane Harvey. Mark LaNeve, Ford's U.S. sales chief, told analysts on Friday that following Hurricane Katrina in 2005 "we saw a very dramatic snapback" in demand. That said, Ford sales fell 2.1 percent in August. It sold 209,897 vehicles in the United States, compared with 214,482 a year earlier. Sales were down 1.9 percent in the Ford division and off 5.8 percent at Lincoln. Demand was down for cars, crossovers and SUVs. It was not clear how many vehicles in the Houston area will be scrapped, LaNeve said, saying he had seen estimates ranging from 200,000 to 400,000 to 1 million. Ford's Houston dealers may have lost fewer than 5,000 vehicles in inventory, he said. Ford is the No. 1 automaker in the Houston market, with 18 percent share, according to IHS Markit. The company plans to ship used vehicles to Houston dealers and has "every indication we would have to add some production" of new vehicles to meet demand, LaNeve said. Investor concerns about inventories of unsold vehicles and falling used car prices have weighed on Detroit automakers' shares most of this year. Now, automakers can anticipate a jolt of demand from a big market that is a stronghold for Detroit brand trucks and SUVs. "It's got to be a positive for the industry," LaNeve said. Investors appeared to agree. GM shares rose as much as 3.3 percent to their highest since early March. Ford increased 2.8 percent at $11.34, and Fiat Chrysler's U.S.-traded shares were up 5.2 percent $15.91, hitting their highest in more than five years. GM reported a 7.5 percent increase in U.S. auto sales in August, helped by robust sales of crossovers across its four brands.

FCA delays Grand Wagoneer and next-generation heavy-duty Ram trucks

Mon, Dec 12 2016

The upcoming Jeep Grand Wagoneer has had a tumultuous gestation thus far. At one point it was essentially confirmed, but later it was rumored to have been cancelled. In that context, the latest report from Automotive News is something of a mixed blessing. According to the publication, the Grand Wagoneer has simply been delayed, as has the next-generation Ram heavy duty truck line. This does not seem to affect the fully redesigned Ram 1500, which was previously reported to have been pushed back slightly to 2019. Automotive News says the information came from unnamed sources at the company. Nothing was said about how long the vehicles would be delayed. The publication also conjectures that FCA is delaying the models to save some money to help cover the company's $7 billion of debt , since re-tooling both the heavy-duty truck plant and eventual Grand Wagoneer plant will be expensive. View 6 Photos We reached out to Chrysler for more information on the subject, but the company wouldn't comment on the report. Even so, we wouldn't be too surprised if FCA is indeed delaying these products. The company has delayed a number of vehicles in recent years. In fact nearly every major FCA truck and SUV, including the Grand Wagoneer and Ram line, were delayed about a year and a half ago. We certainly hope the company doesn't delay the Grand Wagoneer for too long, since it's possible it will have a price tag of over $130,000. The profit margins on an SUV with that kind of MSRP would go a long way to helping to pay down the company's debt. Related Video:
