1983 "california" Cj7 Jeep 4x4 - No Rust, Recently Restored on 2040-cars
Fort Myers, Florida, United States
CLASSIC 1983 CJ-7 JEEP FANTASTIC CONDITION We originally bought this Jeep in 2003 from California because of the pristine condition this Jeep was in with absolutely no rust on it. Being in the auto restoration business for over 32 years, I could not resist a gem like this. we have restored over 30 Jeeps for clients and this one is the cleanest rust free we have seen come through. It was completely stripped to bare metal inside and out before being repainted with House of Kolor Kandy Apple Red. The inside was sprayed with a matching color of red Reflex spray-on bedliner to give it protection and durability. We put new Hancook tires and rims on it we will update pics ! along with replacing the OEM plastic valve cover with the aluminum replacement and studs and put a Webber carb. We’ve rebuilt the original T5 Borg-Warner transmission with all new berring's /sync rows and brass, replaced the flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, throw-out berring z bar /and installed new trans-mounts and stabilizer mounts. Along with rebuilding all the drive shafts, installing new U-joints, rear brake job, and all new synthetic oils in the differentials, transmission, and transfer case. The engine is completely tuned up with a new fuel pump –
While it was being driven it got frequent oil changes, washed almost weekly, with regular maintenance done without fail. This was sort of a slow project that my daughter and I did over the years – so it has been done right! The only thing that we never got to was going through the dash – it needs a new glove box, dash upgrade etc. seats are nice front and back with new door rubbers including windshield and gate rubbers We’re in the process of putting a new exhaust on it just for the
heck of replacing it. along with a new battery
You will NOT find an ’83 Jeep like this anywhere else!!! It’s in great condition and still rust free and driving.
The 6 cylinder (original) engine and 4WD make for some serious fun on and
off-road. The hard top is in good condition and was repainted a gunmetal when we got it.
Of course, being 30 years old, this
Jeep does have some minor wear and tear on it – but considering the overall
condition of this vehicle, this vehicle is in fantastic condition - as any Jeep lovers can see. Message if interested!! Don’t let
this one slip away – Listed locally and we have the right to end auction early! FCA inline-six rumored to be real, headed for Jeep Wagoneer
Thu, Dec 20 2018In September, Allpar reported that that clues being dropped at Fiat- Chrysler headquarters, in the carmaker's factories, and on engineer resumes pointed to the development of an inline six-cylinder engine. The site has just proclaimed the rumor is reality, writing that the straight-six, "turbocharged to meet or beat 5.7 Hemi power ratings, with a smoother torque curve, is on the way." The motor's first outing is expected to be either the next-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee, debuting perhaps next year, or the Jeep Wagoneer, debuting in 2020 or 2021. "Tornado" is the purported codename for the power plant said to be just under three liters in displacement, expanding the family begun with the Global Medium Engine 2.0-liter turbo codenamed Hurricane. Engine bay constraints and a long use horizon mean engineers won't simply add two more cylinders to the GME, however. Allpar says the brief is to keep the Tornado GME-T6 — the alphanumeric for "turbocharged six" — no more than three inches longer than the Tigershark 2.4-liter four-cylinder. That means "major design changes" that could include a space-saving head, more closely spaced cylinders, and no cylinder liners. An FCA division called Comau could be called on for its "SmartSpray" plasma lining technology. Allpar muses that the standard version of the engine for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram could get a single twin-scroll turbocharger. Performance trims for Alfa Romeo and Maserati could get different heads and maybe twin turbos, an SRT version might also get both those tweaks. History shows that the Italian versions would make changes to the block, as well. Even so, the Tornado would be less expensive than any Ferrari-supplied V6. A straight-six would put FCA in company with current adopters BMW and Mercedes-Benz, future users like Jaguar, and perhaps Aston Martin. The engine would span the widest range of use cases in the U.S. carmaker's portfolio, though. Potential applications include being a base engine for Ram trucks, serving double duty as a base engine and 5.7-liter Hemi replacement for the Dodge Charger and Challenger, working in the high-end Jeeps, and as a properly hot trim — with Ferrari-designed heads — in the luxury Italian sports cars. The Alfa Romeo Giulia begs for just such motivation to fill the gap between the 280-hp, $42,695 Ti Sport RWD and the 505-hp, $73,700 Giulia Quadrifoglio RWD. And a twin-turbo inline-six in a Maserati Alfieri would stack up nicely with the Germans.
NHTSA closes investigation on 4.7M FCA power modules, no recall
Thu, Jul 30 2015FCA US hasn't had the best time with recalls as of late. Not only did the company recently agree to greater safety oversight and paid $105 million to the government, that came just days after hacking fears prompted a 1.4-million model recall campaign. However, a recent decision to close an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration means that the automaker doesn't have to worry about another major recall possibly affecting 4.7 million vehicles, according to the agency's report (as a PDF). Last September, the Center for Auto Safety petitioned NHTSA to investigate an alleged problem with the totally integrated power module (TIPM) on these FCA US models. The group claimed that a fault with the component could cause a variety of maladies, including stalls, not starting, catching fire, unintended acceleration, and airbag non-deployment. At the time, it also submitted 70 cases where this had reportedly happened. According to NHTSA, "no valid evidence was presented in support of claims related to airbag non-deployment, unintended acceleration, or fire resulting from TIPM faults and these claims were found to be wholly without merit based on review of the field data and design of the relevant systems and components." The agency did find signs of an issue with the fuel pump relay in some Jeep Grand Cherokees and Dodge Durangos, but FCA US issued recalls for the problem in September 2014 and February 2015. Without anything else to go on, the Feds don't think it's worth investigating this topic any more.
Jeep does Renegade Chinese-style with Zi You Xia design concept
Sat, 19 Apr 2014As we mentioned, Jeep is bringing a quartet of concepts to the Beijing Motor Show this year. Its largest model, the Grand Cherokee, is nowhere to be found, but its smallest is. That, of course, would be the new Renegade, which has been done up as the Zi You Xia design concept.
Taking its name from the Mandarin word (or words) for "rebel," the Zi You Xia takes its inspiration from the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, with a Warm Chocolate Gray paintjob with contrasting dark bronze trim. The roof, grille and mirror caps are color-keyed to match the rest of the exterior, riding on 20-inch alloys in the same dark bronze finish.
Inside it's all Piano Black, Anodized Copper and brown leather with plaid fabric inserts. Scope it out in the high-res image gallery above and the press release below.
