1982 Jeep CJ 7 Limited - Only 200 Produced in 1982 - Limited Edition option was $2,587.00 above regular retail price.

This Vehicle is an Original 1982 Jeep CJ7 LIMITED.
Vehicle listed is not a replica or built to appear a LIMITED. I documented the entire rebuild as I performed the work.

This vehicle was purchased in December of 2011. It was made known I was the third owner.
It has undergone an extensive restoration performed by myself. It has taken since January 2012 until just last month complete.
Disclosure:
This Jeep had 177k miles on the odometer when purchased, The restoration of this vehicle placed a new Speedometer/odometer which shows actual miles SINCE the restoration. The TITLE WILL SHOW 177k miles and I want to make this clear before you read on. (The motor has been completely rebuilt) Read on.

TERMS:
I request that anyone who is truly interested in purchasing this vehicle, email me to ask any questions
before bidding. This vehicle will not be released until full payment is collected and cleared.
I will not entertain low ball offers so please do not try.
If sold over seas, there will be a fee of $400.00 (U.S.) to deliver to the port in New Jersey, or $500.00 (U.S.) to New York.
Any wired payment fee's will be at your expense.

This Jeep has been completely taken apart, sand blasted, primed, repainted and rebuilt.
Anti-seize grease on all applications and grade 8 hardware where high strength is required.

This Jeeps original color was Copper Brown Metallic, Nutmeg Hardtop and Nutmeg interior. It has the Golden Bronze Tint hardtop glass that is clean and clear. The hardtop has a Sunroof that opens and closes freely. The headlining is original and in very good shape. The dome light is OEM and shines bright. The hardtop has no damage or repairs made to it. The glass seals are in very good condition.
The Jeeps Power train is the Original 258 Straight Six, 4.2L engine that was fully taken down and the block was sent out to be rebuilt. It was honed and new pistons and rings were installed as well as all other components. New oil pump, rockers, valves etc... Pictures were taken.
the motor runs and idles perfectly at 750 RPM's at 12 degrees at TDC.
Torque Flite 999 Automatic Transmission was replaced with a very low 54k mile transmission. It is very clean and shifts well. This is bolted to the stock Dana 300 Transfer Case and stock rear AMC20. Dana 30 front axle is stock.
A Brand new Optima Red Top Battery is installed.
The Jeeps original Jack and lug wrench is mounted on the inner fender well, as you would expect.

The frame is original and the ID number recorded. The only repair to the frame were two body mount top plates and front shock absorber mounts were replaced with OEM parts. the frame was cleaned and double coated with POR15.
The axles were in good shape and very clean, I did replace all of the brake cylinders and components. The rear drums are in great shape and front disk brakes work great. Vehicle stops smoothly, and straight.
I rebuilt the leaf springs adding the special liner that was labeled as "Special improved ride package" that gave this CJ7 a smoother feel of suspension that I can feel when on the road.

Pictures of the body before painting shows this tub was in very good condition. Very few, but minor repairs were made to this tub. It has all new caulking on interior metal connections, primed and painted.
The doors were in remarkable condition when purchased. The door panels are original equipment as are the dash, dash pad, leather wrapped grab bar, sun visors, steering column, center console, front and rear seats, seat belts, seat mounts, A/C, clock, Tach, oil & amp gauges. The Stereo is an AMC AM/FM Cassette from another Jeep. The radio works great, but I did not get the cassette player to function. There were a few wires that I did not connect, maybe that is the reason. The speedometer is an aftermarket as the original was sold mistakenly in a parts lot. The dash pad has one small crack in the far left side about 1/4 inch. The nutmeg leather wrapped grab bar has one small piece of leather that was damaged, less than a 1/4 inch.
The seats I had reupholstered. They were leather, but all cracked and not presentable. I had the seats redone on the original frames, foam and mounts, two fronts and the rear seat. The roll bar was painted and has the original Nutmeg Leather wrap with really good color.
The TILT steering column I rebuilt by taking it down to each part, painted and rebuilt installing new guides, springs and bearings. This Tilt column is tight and no play in it. The interior paint was matched by Tower Paint in Wisconsin. I have the full line of AMC Jeep interior paint. Again, the entire vehicle was taken apart and cleaned, painted and reassembled.
The carpet I special ordered, a pre molded heavy duty carpet with the full sound deadening backing material added. It is beautiful and I had custom Floor mats embroidered with CJ7.
Each wheel was removed, tires taken off and completely sand blasted and repainted. Brand new Radial All Season Tires match all five wheels and have the Bright Trim Rings. The center caps are all original and have great shine to them.
The rear tire carrier is in the best condition I've seen for a CJ.
I have kept this Jeep as original as possible, however the odometer is not OEM, and I could not find the original Limited Badges anywhere.
The paint is really nice. It is not perfect but it does look terrific. It shines really nicely and shows great. Again, each part was painted separately before reassembled, so everything has paint all the way around unlike Factory Paint was done after the vehicles were assembled.
The two tone pin striping is hand painted and compliments the Jeeps color beautifully.
Decals as AMC installed at the factory are throughout the Jeep.
Factory installed Marchal Lights are mounted on the original Chrome Bumper with the OEM Bumper ends.
The rear bumper has the original Chrome Bumperettes and the stock rear tow bar.
The doors open and close like new, you don't have to fight to get them to open or close. The windows open and close freely and lock with new lock cylinders installed.
This Jeep has the interior lights that go on when the door opens. They work and shine bright with the OEM light domes as does the hardtop light.
The A/C is all connected and blows strong air. I just have yet to charge the system but I do have the kit to convert from R12 to 134A refrigerant. It is all connected and wired ready to be charged which I will do in the next week or so on a nice day.
The heat is good and all the cables work. The blower motor is new and the entire heater system was taken apart, cleaned and painted and reinstalled.
The center console is the original with the gasket and locking stock cylinder with the key.
The ashtray mounted on the dash is perfect and opens and closes as it was when factory installed.
So many features of this 1982 Jeep CJ7 Limited are as close to show room condition as brochures show.
I have the stock Air bonnet & Carter carburetor that come with the Jeep. It still has the yellow decal on it.

Please understand that a lot of work and time went into this project. I have seen Jeep CJ7's restored sell for equal value and this is a LIMITED in which only 200 were produced in 1982 and 1983 only.
I have the Showroom Brochures for this vehicle and glove box owners manual included.
I invite SERIOUS BUYERS to come look at the Jeep (by appointment) and see for yourself how remarkable it is! It makes you feel like you are back in the 80's.

Feel free to email me at dnehrings@gmail.com and leave your phone number if you want me to call you.

Thank you for looking.

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee probed by NHTSA for brake problems

Sun, Jun 7 2015

Remember how Toyota got in all kinds of trouble over unintended acceleration? Well, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating Jeep over unintended braking. NHTSA has announced a probe of 20,000 Grand Cherokee SUVs from model year 2014. Nine complaints have been received, with owners alleging that their Jeeps have issued brake warnings or gone ahead and applied the brakes when no threat was presented. Each complaint alleges that the vehicles have exhibited this behavior repeatedly, leading to a "sudden reduction in vehicle speed in traffic." So basically, a system designed to prevent accidents could actually increase the odds of a collision happening. Speaking to the Associated Press, Jeep spokesperson Eric Mayne said owners whose vehicles are exhibiting this behavior should report to dealers, while adding that the automatic braking/adaptive cruise control systems can be deactivated. Related Video: Scroll down for the official bulletin on the investigation from NHTSA. Date Investigation Opened: JUN 01, 2015 Date Investigation Closed: Open NHTSA Action Number: PE15021 Component(s): FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Manufacturer: Chrysler (FCA US LLC) SUMMARY: The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received nine complaints alleging inappropriate activations of the autonomous braking system in model year (MY) 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles. All nine reports alleged unexpected braking incidents preceded by collision imminent brake warnings and resulting in sudden reduction in vehicle speed in traffic. Two complaints reported autonomous braking incidents with no objects on the road resulting in rapid increase in brake force and anti-lock braking system (ABS) activations. The complaints alleged experiencing multiple events at different locations and road conditions. A Preliminary Evaluation has been opened to assess the frequency, scope and consequences of the alleged defect. The following VOQ numbers are associated with the issues discussed in this resume: 10543837, 10713629, 10690650, 10663320, 10630362, 10596913, 10533622, 10533524, 10651269.

Vile Gossip: Ladies who launch

Fri, Feb 16 2018

Jean Jennings has been writing about cars for more than 30 years, after stints as a taxicab driver and as a mechanic in the Chrysler Proving Grounds Impact Lab. She was a staff writer at Car and Driver magazine, the first executive editor and former president and editor-in-chief of Automobile Magazine, the founder of the blog Jean Knows Cars and former automotive correspondent for Good Morning America. She has lifetime awards from both the Motor Press Guild and the New England Motor Press Association. Look for more Vile Gossip columns in the future. The year was 2006. We were driving a Bugatti Veyron 16.4 across the Florida Panhandle from Jacksonville to Panama City, only because I couldn't convince Bugatti to let me be the first to drive its exotic powerhouse, the world's fastest car at that time, all the way across America. One gleaming example had arrived in time for the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance, where the journos massed for their quick test drives out the front drive of the Ritz Carlton, down a short stretch of the A1A, and back to the Ritz. Not far enough for me. I wanted to take the Veyron in all of its 16-cylinder, 1,001-horsepower, $1.3-million-dollar glory on a coast-to-coast extravaganza of a road trip. Never hurts to ask. I asked. Once the Bugatti guys stopped hyperventilating, I explained that the coastal adventure would be contained wholly within the state of Florida, from the Atlantic coast to the Gulf of Mexico. My secret destination, however, was to be Vernon, Florida, home of the great Errol Morris' classic documentary about a town in the Panhandle with the highest per-capita population of citizens who'd blown off or whacked off a limb for insurance money. (Google "Nub City.") The Swiss head of Bugatti public relations thought it hilarious. He showed up in a van with a couple of German mechanics to follow us and a failed French Formula 1 driver to serve as my chaperone. I came with a photographer from Germany and one of the most infamous of bad-boy auto magazine tech editors, the irrepressible Don Sherman. Sherman had his own reason for going, and it had nothing to do with a Veyron to Vernon. Once we gave up looking for nubbies, he ordered me to veer south to the handgrip of the Panhandle, familiarly known as the Redneck Riviera. The Don was aiming to secretly execute the Veyron's first Launch Control blastoff in captivity.

Woodward Dream Cruise Photo Gallery | Classics and American muscle

Sun, Aug 21 2022

The 2022 running of the Woodward Dream Cruise just went down, and we were there from morning to evening drinking in the sweet sights and pre-emissions exhaust fumes. Yes, it’s a little smelly on Woodward Ave. this time of year. Just like always, the Dream Cruise invites all comers to cruise their machines on Woodward from Ferndale, MI to Pontiac, MI. Everybody is invited, but the original intent of the Dream Cruise was to highlight classic American muscle cars. YouÂ’ll see plenty of those in our mega gallery above, but weÂ’ve sprinkled it with a bunch of other vehicle types, such as modern muscle and other intriguing American vehicles. Similar to years past, though, sometimes the classics arenÂ’t the most entertaining thing to look at on Woodward. ThatÂ’s why weÂ’ll have other mega galleries coming soon, highlighting the weird cars and (great) dogs of the Cruise, all the imports and exotics you can imagine and a special one for all the trucks of Woodward — perhaps even more so than in years past, the truck population on Dream Cruise day was quite high. Click through above to see all the classics you wouldÂ’ve seen had you been roadside on the day of the cruise. And if you missed this yearÂ’s event, make sure you check out what happens next year. You wonÂ’t be alone, as itÂ’s estimated that over 1 million people attend the Dream Cruise to either watch from the side of the road or to sit in the most glorious traffic jam in the world.
