YOU ARE VIEWING A VERY STRAIGHT AND SOLID EXAMPLE OF A 1982 JEEP CJ-8 SCRAMBLER SL (LAREDO PACKAGE). THIS PACKAGE FEATURES UPGRADED SEATING (SHOWING WEAR), FACTORY CHROME WAGON WHEELS, CHROME GRILLE, AND LEATHER WRAPPED GLOVEBOX HANDLE.  THIS ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER FOR THIS SCRAMBLER SHOWS IT WAS ORDERED WITH THE FACTORY SPORT PACKAGE HARD TOP (WITH RUST FREE BULKHEAD), AND STEEL DOORS WITH INTERIOR DOOR PANELS.  ALSO ORDERED WAS THE OPTIONAL REAR TRAC-LOK DIFFERENTIAL, SPARE TIRE CARRIER, HEAVY DUTY COOLING SYSTEM, THE LARGER 20 GALLON FUEL TANK, AND TILT STEERING. THIS SCRAMBLER WAS ORIGINALLY SOLD LOCALLY HERE IN ALABAMA, SO THE BODY AND FRAME HAVE NOT BEEN DESTROYED BY RUST. THE PICTURES SHOW THAT THIS JEEP EVEN RETAINS IT'S FACTORY STAMPED BED FLOORING THATS STILL IN GREAT SHAPE! THE PREVIOUS OWNER PAINTED THE EXTERIOR  FLAT BLACK TO GIVE IT AN OLD SCHOOL LOOK, AND LEFT THE INTERIOR IT'S FACTORY COLOR. THE FLOOR PANS ARE ORIGINAL, THEY HAVE PAINT, AND ONLY THE RIGHT SIDE HAS SOME SMALL PITTING HOLES DUE TO THE PLUGS HAVING BEEN REMOVED. THE CLOCK WAS REMOVED SOMETIME IN THE PAST. THE TACH, AND OTHER GAUGES WORK, AS WELL AS THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS. THIS SCRAMBLER STARTS QUICKLY, ALTHOUGH IT IS A LITTLE COLD-NATURED. THE TRUE MILEAGE IS NOT KNOWN. FACTORY POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES MAKES MANUEVERING IN TIGHT SPOTS A BREEZE. I DRIVE THIS JEEP ALL OVER TOWN, BUT THE ENGINE IS SHOWING SOME AGE. IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON DRIVING THIS CJ-8 DAILY, YOU WILL EVENTUALLY WANT TO CONSIDER A REBUILD. THE DISTRIBUTOR IS NEW, AS WELL AS THE COIL, AND THE CARBURETOR WAS REBUILD RECENTLY. THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS GREAT AND THE 4WD OPERATES AS IT SHOULD. THE MASTERCRAFT TIRES ARE NEW AND MOUNTED ON THE FACTORY CHROME WAGON WHEELS (CHROME IS NICE, BUT NEEDS POLISHING). AS YOU KNOW, ITS REALLY GETTING HARD TO FIND SCRAMBLERS THAT HAVEN'T HAD DIAMOND PLATE ADDED TO COVER RUST. THE PICTURES OF THE JEEP'S SIDES AND BED SHOWS ABSOLUTELY ZERO RUST ISSUES, SO WHETHER YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A RARE WEEKEND HUNTING 4X4 OR A SUPER STRAIGHT AND SOLID FOUNDATION FOR A COMPLETE RESTORATION, THEN THIS 1982 JEEP CJ-8 SCRAMBLER SL IS FOR YOU!!

I'LL BE GLAD TO GET A SHIPPING QUOTE FOR THE WINNING BIDDER, IF REQUESTED.

Jeep Grand Cherokee, BMW i8, Ford F-150 win 2015 Green Car Awards in DC [w/video]

Tue, Jan 27 2015

There were three shiny trophies handed out at the Washington Auto Show last week by Green Car Journal, and they went to three different examples of what "green" means in the automotive industry today. The Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel won the award for the 2015 Green SUV of the Year, the BMW i8 was named the 2015 Luxury Green Car of the Year and the Ford F-150 took the 2015 Green Car Technology Award honor. There is a case to be made that the aluminum body of the new Ford truck will make a bigger impact in the overall fuel usage in the US than almost any other vehicle, given the numbers of F-150s that Ford sells each year. The B20 biodiesel-capable Jeep gets up to 30 miles per gallon on the highway. And the i8 puts all sorts of new, fuel-saving technologies into an attractive package. Looking over the winners, and the list of finalists you can see in our photo gallery, and you can see that the definition of green is expanding every year. You can watch Green Car Journal editor Ron Cogan hand out the 2015 awards in the video below and we'll for sure be paying attention to what wins next year. 2015 Luxury Green Car of the Year, Green SUV of the Year and Green Car Technology Winners Announced WASHINGTON, Jan. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Green Car Journal has named the Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel its 2015 Green SUV of the Year™ and the BMW i8 its 2015 Luxury Green Car of the Year™, with the aluminum-bodied Ford F-150 earning the magazine's 2015 Green Car Technology Award™. Winners were determined by a jury of Green Car Journal editors and automotive experts. The prestigious awards were announced in Washington, D.C. today at a Green Car Awards™ press conference held during the Washington Auto Show's Public Policy Day at the Washington Convention Center. "These are truly commendable vehicles representing the 'best-of-the-best' in so many ways," said Ron Cogan, editor and publisher of the Green Car Journal and CarsOfChange.com. "The auto industry's very early focus on small cars and efficiency-for-environment tradeoffs has evolved to now include a more dynamic field of 'greener' models in all vehicle classes. Those wanting greater efficiency or better environmental performance are no longer constrained by limited choices or vehicle types that fall outside their top purchase preferences.

'84 MotorWeek Cherokee, Bronco and Blazer comparison indulges your SUV nostalgia

Fri, Jan 16 2015

These days, truck-based, full-frame SUVs are somewhat of a rarity on the auto landscape due to the rapid rise in popularity of easier-driving, car-based crossovers. Although, without the gradually building popularity of these chunky, high-riding vehicles decades ago, it's unlikely that America's roads would be filled with so many CUVs today. In its latest dig into the archives, MotorWeek has found a 1984 comparison test of a trio of these early Sport Utility Wagons, as long-time host John Davis called them, that helped get acceptance of this segment going. This is a red, white and blue test of the SUVs from American automakers at the time and pits the Chevrolet Blazer, Ford Bronco and Jeep Cherokee (specifically in Wagoneer guise) against each other. Driving manners and interior usability are considered in the evaluation, but Motorweek actually takes these vehicles off road, too. Among the bigger revelations is the improvement in on-road ability in the past 30 years. While specific 0-60 times aren't given, all three models take around 10 seconds just to get to around 50 miles per hour in the 500-feet on-ramp acceleration test. Check out this clip to see just how far this segment has progressed in the past three decades or just get a blast of nostalgia from these now vintage models. Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk and a Final Four of automakers | Autoblog Podcast #723

Fri, Apr 1 2022

In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski. We start out with news on the Lotus Eletre and Ferrari Purosangue. These two high-end crossovers are followed by discussions about the new inline-six engines from Stellantis and an overabundance of Hummer EV orders. Next we try something we've never tried before: ranking automaker blue bloods. We took inspiration from the current NCAA tournament, which features Duke, North Carolina, Villanova and Kansas — very much traditional blue-blood basketball programs — to name our Final Four automakers. Let us know if you agree or disagree with our picks and what your definition of a blue blood car brand is. We wrap up with a discussion about the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk that Jeremy's been driving all week. Send us your questions for the Mailbag and Spend My Money at: Podcast@Autoblog.com.
