1981 Jeep Scrambler CJ8

Details:

This auction is for our 1981 Jeep Scrambler CJ 8 which is in excellent condition with NO RUST.  We are the third owners and have only had the vehicle for one year.  During that time it has been stored in a warehouse.  A friend owned the vehicle before us and he purchase it from the original owner in 2005.  The Jeep has been garage stored the entire time.  During the time that we have had the vehicle we have replaced the gas tank and sending unit.  We also replace the battery.  Paul, the second owner, is responsible for making this Jeep dress right dress.  I have never met a person who takes so much pride in their vehicles.  Heck, I purchased a riding lawn mower from the man and you could have eaten from the deck.  Anyway, he purchased the Jeep in 2005 and completely went through it.  He replaced the valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, oil pump and sending unit.   He replaced the emergency brake, stereo(Alpine), stereo speakers and reupholestered the seats.  Over the years I have owned 2 CJ 7s, a Cherokee, a Wagoner, and a Wrangler.  Overall, this is the nicest especially giving it's age.  My current CJ 7 has the typical wave to the Jeep body.  I do not see this wave anywhere on this vehicle.  The only wear that we see is where the floor boards have been repaired which is pictured.   As pictured this Jeep comes with the original hard top and doors.  Also included, new and in the box, are soft doors.  A bikini top is also pictured and included.  Not pictured but included are the original wheels and exhaust system.

Chrysler investigating complaints of vehicles with faulty power modules

Sun, 24 Aug 2014

Chrysler owners are hopping mad after experiencing a series of electrical gremlins in some of the company's vehicles. Issues range from mere annoyances - windows rolling down and radios turning off of their own accord - to serious safety issues, with headlights that randomly shut off at night and cars that stall and refuse to start.
The issues are being blamed on the total integrated power module, which can cost up to $1,000 for customers to replace. This, of course, has led to a hefty batch of complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, with 240 owners expressing their displeasure so far. Another site, CarComplaints.com, has registered over 300 complaints relating to the 2010 to 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango, alone, according to The New York Times.
Chrysler has acknowledged that it's investigating the complaints and is analyzing the faulty TIPMs, but that isn't quite enough for customers of the affected vehicles. The newspaper has snagged a few of the more harrowing tales with the electrically challenged Chrysler products, culled from the NHTSA complaints.

Toyota tops Kelley Blue Book's Resale Value Awards

Tue, 27 Nov 2012

Kelley Blue Book announced its annual Best Resale Value Award winners, and we weren't too surprised to see the list dominated by Japanese automakers - mainly Toyota and Honda. KBB hands out the awards based on the projected residual value of mostly all 2013 model year vehicles, and Toyota skated home with a number of awards including 10 of the 22 overall categories and having five of its products in the top 10 for models with best resale value. KBB's Best Resale Value Awards were announced in the same week as the ALG Residual Value Awards, and there were many similarities between both lists, especially when it came to Toyota.
To come up with its winners, KBB measures depreciation over the first five years of ownership, and looks for the cars it expects to hold its value the best after this time; on average, the report says the 2013 model year vehicles will lose 61.8 percent of its value in five years. Of the 22 categories, 15 slots were filled by Toyota, Honda and Nissan products, while the Camaro and Porsche (Cayenne and Panamera) each took home a pair of awards. If Toyota has anything to be upset about in this list of cars, it's that categories for Hybrid/Alternative Energy Car and Electric Vehicle went to the Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Volt, respectively.
The overall top 10 models for the best resale value in 2013 are, in alphabetical order:

NHTSA closes investigation into Jeep Liberty fires

Sun, 16 Mar 2014

The investigation that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened into the Jeep Liberty in October 2013 has been closed. NHTSA received two (!) complaints about fires starting in the driver's door, thought to be caused by the master power window switch. The initial estimate was that 80,000 Libertys could be roped into a possible recall, but according to a report in the Detroit News the agency examined records for 425,000 Chrysler products that used the same window switch, including the Dodge Nitro and Chrysler Town & Country minivan.
After canvassing 265 warranty claims related to the master switches, NHTSA concluded that the rate of fires compared to the "large population of vehicles" was rather low, and that there was no trend pattern behind the few issues it did find. Perhaps with that, and the closure of the trailer hitch investigation, the Liberty can finally rest in peace.
