OK, up for sale is my CJ-7 project.
I bought this jeep about 2 years ago and drove it home, which means drive train is in good condition. ( Original drive train ) Original plan was to fully restore the jeep to a brand new shape. I started by ripping everything on the body that was rusted which was pretty much everything but the engine compartment ( see pics ) the frame was very solid and in great shape so i only had to patch a couple of spots and replace the rear cross member by a new one ( purchased at quadratec.com ) Once stripped down, i replaced ALL the fuel lines and MOST brake lines, also replaced the fuel pump and all respective filters. I proceeded to rhino line the frame. And finally i purchased every single panel necessary to put together a brand new metal tub. Early this spring i started welding the rear of the tub together ( please see pics ) and that's where i stopped.... At this point in my life i don't have the funds or the time to complete the project and honestly i need the room to work in my other jeep ( yes, i do own other jeeps, it is an addiction ;) so i am selling this project as it is for somebody to complete , is early enough in the project that you can still go your own way as far as lift and color you choose. The jeep is a great project to take over , i tried including everything that it comes with it in the picture but i couldn't.... so here it is .... The jeep as you see it in the pictures. ( original drive train in it ) All the parts that you can see behind the jeep as , the rear of the tub already welded and put together , the front floor panels , all front side panels. Set of full doors in good working condition , will of course need painting. Original rear tail gate Original fronts and rear seats Roll bar I also have a spare on the tire carrier ( same size as the tires it sits on) 235x75 r15 with about 50% tread left on all of them. I have a NEW 2" body lift kit that i also was planning to put on the jeep. The jeep has a clear title I also have the hard top that came with the jeep, the back window is ruined but if replaced the top could still be used. I spent just under $1000 in parts alone, mostly the panels in order to build a new tub and paid $700 for the jeep when i bought it , so i will start my auction at $1,700 If you have any questions about the jeep do not hesitate on writing me. The description of the jeep is to the best of my knowledge , i am by no means a professional mechanic or car restorer but i have been at this jeep hobby for a while and know my way around them. Look at my excellent positive feedback and bid with confidence. Please only serious bidders I will require a $500 deposit within 24 hours of the auction closing. Thank you for looking and happy bidding !!! |

7 months later, Jeep 'trailer hitch' recall still stalled
Tue, 14 Jan 2014For the past few years, Chrysler and its CEO, Sergio Marchionne, have gone head-to-head with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and its boss, David Strickland, over the government safety agency's request for Chrysler to recall almost three-million Jeep vehicles due to what NHTSA says is a safety issue that has caused at least 51 deaths. After a three-year investigation and Chrysler's initial refusal to issue a recall because it deemed the vehicles safe and built to the day's federal requirements, last summer, the two parties compromised on a "voluntary campaign" to inspect 1.56 million vehicles, those being the 1992 to 1998 Grand Cherokee and 2002 to 2007 Liberty.
Those vehicles were designed with their gas tanks between the rear axle and the bumper, and NHTSA says that in rear-end collisions, damage to the fuel tank has caused fires responsible for those 51 deaths. The compromise reached last summer was that Chrysler would inspect 1.56 million vehicles and, "if necessary, provide an upgrade to the rear structure of the vehicle." Practically speaking, that meant Chrysler would replace aftermarket trailer hitches, but would take no action if a vehicle had a factory-installed hitch or an aftermarket hitch from Mopar.
A report in The Detroit News says the "voluntary campaign" is just now getting under way, with Chrysler saying last week that the design of the replacement part had been finalized and it was tooling up "to deliver the required volume." Seven months later, still in question is whether NHTSA will crash-test the fix engineered by Chrysler, noteworthy because not only did the vehicles in question pass every safety standard necessary to be cleared for sale at the time, there are still questions (to those of us on the outside) as to how the Jeeps at issue fare among their peers in such incidents. Either way, Chrysler and NHTSA apparently still disagree on the efficacy of the remedy itself: the carmaker says it might help in low-speed crashes but not high-speed collisions, a position the NHTSA is at odds with. All of this means the campaign doesn't yet have an end in sight.
Jeep rocks the Wrangler Red Rock concept in Vegas [w/video]
Thu, Nov 5 2015The SEMA show may have once been all about dropping rides to the floor, but these days it's at least as much about jacking them up on lifted suspensions. And few show cars – or trucks, we should say – managed to embody that spirit at this year's tuner exposition quite as well as the Jeep Wrangler Red Rock you see here. The concept started out life as a Wrangler Unlimited, but instead of four doors, it has none. Or any roof, for that matter. Just a roll cage and a windscreen. What it does have are 17-inch wheels wearing 35-inch BF Goodrich tires and fitted to a suspension lifted by two inches. It also has a reinforced tailgate, power winch, tow hooks... everything, in short, that you could want or need for off-roading, and little more. As you can see, it also looks the business, with a custom hood, body-color grille, matte-finish bumpers, and a brown leather interior. Handsome as it is, though, its rugged beauty runs more than skin deep: lift off the sheetmetal and you'd find electronic locking differentials, a transfer case, and solid axles fore and aft. A more extreme take on the existing Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Hard Rock edition, the Red Rock show truck was done up to honor the organization behind the Easter Jeep Safari that's a favorite among the legions of the Jeep faithful. And while it remains a concept only for the time being, a production version is slated to follow in time to celebrate the event's 50th anniversary next year. Related Video:
Wards names its 2015 10 Best Interiors list
Fri, Apr 17 2015Wards Automotive has named the winners of its 10 Best Interior awards, covering a wide but affordable array of vehicles. Where last year's list contained two six-figure vehicles, including the $372,800 Rolls-Royce Wraith, this year's is, well, a whole lot more reasonable. The publication lists the Mercedes-Benz C400 at $65,000 (which seems off), making it the most expensive vehicle here. That said, we'd argue that the entire C-Class line deserves to make this year's list, owing to its varied and high-quality selection of materials. The other vehicle to break the $60,000 mark, meanwhile, is the $60,675 Ford F-150 King Ranch, which has 327,000 pounds of leather lining its interior. Only one other German car, the BMW i3, and one other pickup truck, the GMC Canyon, managed to make this year's list. Here's the full list of this year's winners: 2014 BMW i3 ($52,550) 2015 Chrysler 300C Platinum ($51,175) 2015 Ford F-150 King Ranch ($60,675) 2015 GMC Canyon SLT ($40,465) 2015 Honda Fit EX-L ($21,590) 2015 Jeep Renegade Limited ($33,205) 2015 Kia Sedona SXL ($43,295) 2016 Mazda6 Grand Touring ($33,395) 2015 Mercedes C400 ($65,000) 2015 Nissan Murano SL ($41,905) See what we mean about the mainstream vehicles? Not only is there a distinct lack of luxury brands, it's the price of some of the vehicles that surprise. The Honda Fit, Jeep Renegade and Mazda6 are very reasonably priced, especially when you compare Wards price with the starting price. The Renegade Limited starts at less than $25,000, the Mazda at less than $22K and the Fit at under $16,000. Head over to Wards for a more detailed explanation of why each vehicle won.
