1979 Jeep Cj5 Golden Eagle Sport Utility 2-door on 2040-cars
Ball Ground, Georgia, United States
Second listing with lower reserve. 1979 Jeep CJ5 Golden Eagle. This was an original Golden Eagle. 29,000 miles on the ticker? I have the original gold spare wheel and tire that has never been on the pavement. It had the tach and clock common to the upgrade. It was repainted by the second owner. It had new Golden Eagle decals at that time. The jeep has power steering with a chrome power steering pump. A new power disc brake kit from Collins Bros jeeps with slotted high performance rotors. Jeep stops straight and drives great. No steering slop. Original 3 speed T-150 transmission rebuilt with new synchronizers and bearing kit Shifts like new. Dana 20 transfer case works great. The jeep came originally with a 304 V8 which is available. The engine was replaced with a Tuff Dawg 365hp AMC Jeep 360cid crate engine. See their web site ($5,000) tuffdawgengines.com. The engine only has a few hundred miles on it. This is a Sunday driver that only gets out once or twice a month when it is pretty. The jeep sounds great. Impressive horsepower in a light weight vehicle. Engine has a Powermaster chrome alternator. Aluminum pulleys from bulltear.com. New Holley Street Dominator Caburator. Hooker ceramic coated headers. Chrome Hooker side pipe mufflers not glass packs. Sounds good but not too loud. New Powermaster high torque starter. New centerforce clutch and pressure plate. Mickey Thompson Classic Lock wheels with 33" ProComp tires. Tires like new. Bestop low back seats. They just feel right in a vintage classic. Retractable factory lap belts. SS dash. The original dash was cut for speakers. It looked bad so I replaced it. All the gauges work!. I sent the factory clock off and had it rebuilt for $200. This is the original clock not aftermarket. The color was off on the after market clock. It has a factory oil and volt gauge. Same deal, after market color doesn't match instrument cluster at night. Fuel gauge works. Factory tach works. The windshield washer works, see photo. The parking brake light works. It has Hella headlights with an upgraded relay wiring harness ket for them. This is a slick kit. Lights are brighter than new vehicle headlights. If it is on the Jeep it works as good as or better than factory. There is no rust on this Jeep. It spends its life in a plush garage. Bestop super top with the good doors that convert to half doors. Bikini top. I have only had the top on it a couple of times. I only drive it when it is warm and pretty although the top and heater work great. New high performance heater blower motor. Too much to list. I didn't think I would ever sale it but I want to put the money in another airplane. I am not a dealer, I am a jeep connoisseur. I have owned one or another cj for the last 30 years. I bought this jeep because it was the real deal, solid honest, factory V8, bullet proof 3 speed, dana 20, no rhino lined over rust jeep. I just made it better. Nothing to do to it but drive and enjoy. evanmarble@bellsouth.net |

FCA and Peugeot reportedly agree on merger
Wed, Oct 30 2019Citing a Wall Street Journal report, the Detroit Free Press says "Fiat Chrysler and PSA Groupe have agreed to merge." The Journal reported on talks between the two car companies only yesterday. It's said that Peugeot's board met yesterday to approve the deal, FCA's board met today, and an announcement could come as soon as tomorrow, Thursday. Both automakers have released statements, but neither company has released any information beyond admitting to ongoing talks. If the merger happens, the combined entity would become the world's fourth-largest carmaker with a $50 billion valuation, slotting in behind Toyota, the Volkswagen Group, and the Renault Nissan Mitsubishi alliance. Among the merger options possible, "an all-stock merger of equals" is the one analysts and Moody's seem to give the best grade. The reported merger would come about four months after FCA walked away from merger talks with Renault. FCA said the French government scuppered those talks over the role of Nissan in a reformed entity, but there were also brewing issues with French unions, and ongoing turmoil among Renault and Nissan leadership thanks to continuing fallout from ex-CEO Carlos Ghosn's arrest last year. FCA makes most of its revenue in the U.S. and rules Italy, while Peugeot is the second-best-selling automaker in Europe with its own brand in France and Opel in Germany. The two companies already have a partnership in Europe making vans, one that FCA CEO Mike Manley has spoken highly of. Among the list of obvious benefits in a potential merger, FCA would get access to Peugeot's small, modern platforms, $10.2 billion in cash, and electrified and hybrid architecture developments, the latter especially important to FCA as those are fields where it lags. Peugeot would get much easier access to the U.S. market, and the money-printing brands Jeep and Ram. A merged carmaker would have combined sales of nearly 9 million a year, based on 2018 results. By comparison, both Volkswagen and Toyota sell over 10 million cars a year, while the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance almost 11 million. Peugeot CEO Carlos Tavares has proved he knows how to do turnarounds and mergers. After leaving a position as Carlos Ghosn's right-hand man in 2012, Tavares took over Peugeot in 2014, navigated a bailout from the French government and China's Dongfeng Motors in 2015, and turned PSA into a regional powerhouse.
Jeep Renegade configurator switches on
Fri, Jan 30 2015Less than a week after letting loose with pricing information for its 2015 Renegade, Jeep has powered up the configurator for its new compact CUV, giving us our first complete look at pricing for the model's healthy options catalog. If you've messed around with any of FCA's other online configurators, the Renegade's will be immediately familiar. Pick a trim, interior and exterior color, optional extras and packages, and you're done. Of course, we don't write these posts just to let you know about a configurator going live. We do them because it gives us an excuse to mess about with all the different varieties of a new model, and, on occasion, to build something surprisingly expensive or cheap, just to see if it can be done. The Renegade certainly has no issues when it comes to the former. If you want the priciest model, you'll need the $25,995 Trailhawk, which can be priced up to $33,330. We got to that figure by adding the $1,495 Trailhawk Premium Group (heated, powered leather seats, dual-zone climate control, heated steering wheel, 40/20/40 split-rear seats), the $595 Safety and Security Group I (blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic assist and an alarm), the $395 Trailer Tow Group, the $1,395 powered MySky system, a $150 hood decal (which might mean that you can get a Trailhawk without a black stripe), a $1,295 navigation system with satellite radio, a $495 nine-speaker stereo, a $295 push-button starter, a $200 remote starter and a $75 tonneau cover. Will you need all of those options? Not really. But many of them would certainly fall into the "must-have" category for customers. Head over to Jeep's consumer page and mess about with the configurator, and let us know what you think of the full pricing (and what your ideal spec looks like!) in Comments. Related Video:
Jeep Cherokee sales rival Wrangler after two months
Sun, 29 Dec 2013In our First Drive article on the 2014 Jeep Cherokee we said, "our informal and thoroughly unscientific opinion is they're going to sell tons of them. Why? Because it is very good." So far, it appears the public concurs. Of course, it's very early - the new compact utility has logged just one month of confirmed sales, but Larry Vellequette at Automotive News says dealers have told him that the second month of sales will be even better, a message that mirrors what we've heard from company execs.
In its first, severely truncated month on sale, the Cherokee sold 579 units. With all of November to play with, though, dealers moved 10,169 of them - compared to 11,753 Wranglers and 14,798 Grand Cherokees. That helped propel Jeep to a 30-percent year-on-year improvement for the month, Chrysler Group to a 16-percent improvement and the group's 44th consecutive month of sales growth, exceeding analyst expectations in posting its best November numbers since 2007.
If it can just keep replicating the its first month of sales, the finalist in North American Truck of the Year voting will smoke the trade done by the outgoing Liberty, which didn't break 7,900 units in a month in the last four years of its life (and normally didn't get close to even that). In March this year, Chrysler said it wants to build 250,000 Cherokees in its Toledo assembly plant for global sales. It's early yet, but with second-month sales quoted as being as "strong as death," the bookies might be resetting the odds.
