I am selling my 1979 Jeep CJ 5. I bought this jeep last summer and had a great time with it. I bought it from a friend who works on a ranch in South Texas. The owner of the ranch had this Jeep completely restored by a company in Houston.
The restoration was a frame off project. The frame is powder coated glossy black. The tub is lined with Line X both underneath and in the interior. The body is professionally restored and has no rust. The outer body work looks perfect with absolutely no dents or scratches. The camo paint job was professionally done with base coat/clear coat with a matt finish clear. (This is no jiggle can paint job.) All of the lights are new (front and rear).
The engine runs great with no smoke or mechanical problems. It has a lot of power and sounds great. The interior has new seats front and rear with shoulder mount seat belts.
Here is an extensive list of what is new:
New seats and seat frames, new shoulder mount seat belts, tilt steering column from “I did it”. All new gauges with new speedo cluster, new side mirrors, new sun visors.
The soft top is new “bestop” with windows and doors.
The engine compartment has a new wiring harness, new brake system with front disc and drum rear including new stainless lines, hoses and master cylinder. The fuel system has a new gas tank, stainless fuel lines, and gauge sender. The leaf springs and shocks are also new.
The wheels and tires are new with approximately 500 miles since the restoration.
This Jeep has a heavy duty 4 speed Borg/Warner “granny” transmission. The numbers are 13-01-065-906. The transfer case is a gear to gear with casting number 600596-113 535-4555.
The engine is a 258 straigt 6.

Jeep Renegade pricing to start at $18,595?
Fri, 14 Mar 2014While there's no shortage of excitement surrounding the new Jeep Renegade, one of the limiting factors to the little trucklet will be its price. With the Kia Soul starting at $14,900 and the Nissan Juke kicking off at $18,990, the Renegade can't afford to stray away from that price bracket.
And judging by some potentially leaked pricing info, it won't. A quick Google search of "Jeep Renegade Price" reveals (at least for now) that the Italian-built Jeep will start at $18,595. The "as shown" price of $25,895 seems to indicate the Trailhawk model shown on Jeep's consumer page.
If the $18,595 figure is correct, it's likely for the base, two-wheel-drive Sport model, with the Latitude and Limited trims falling somewhere between there and the $25,895 as-equipped price of the Trailhawk.
Chrysler extending production of current Dodge Avenger, Jeep Wrangler, Grand Caravan
Wed, 24 Jul 2013Are you hesitant to pull the trigger on a brand new Dodge Avenger in hopes that a new one will be coming? Well, don't hold your breath. According to The Detroit News, Chrysler will be extending production of the current Avenger sedan through the end of 2015.
Originally, we heard that the company would kill the Avenger to better focus its midsize sedan efforts on the Chrysler 200 replacement. But then new reports stated there would indeed be an Avenger successor, and that we could see it as early as next January. This Detroit News report cites supplier sources confirming the extension of Avenger production, though Chrysler has not released an official statement on the matter.
These same suppliers say that the current Jeep Wrangler will live on through mid-2018 - that's right, another five years. The Detroit News reports that a replacement for the iconic, go-anywhere Jeep was due in mid-2016.
Marchionne defends FCA recalls, says Wrangler won't be all-aluminum
Fri, May 22 2015FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne recently received the 2015 Industry Leadership Award from the SAE Foundation. While speaking with the press after the event, the boss discussed his thoughts about some key issues regarding the company's future. One of the big regulatory issues facing FCA at the moment is the upcoming public hearing by the National Highway Traffic Safety into the automaker's handling of 20 recalls. Marchionne has no intention of testifying there, according to The Detroit News. The CEO also thinks that the government regulator is becoming much more aggressive in how it handles safety campaigns, but the Feds aren't necessarily doing a very good job of communicating that. "We need to work with the agency in a very cooperative and open way to make sure that we can meet their requirements for their new stance," he said, according to the newspaper. "We have no option but to comply with their requirements and we will. I have nothing to hide in this process. I just want clear rules." Marchionne also dropped the news that the company has changed its mind about making the next Jeep Wrangler totally from aluminum. "Because of the difference in cost, not just the new material but the actual assembly process, I think we can do almost as well without doing it all-aluminum," he said to The Detroit News. This seemingly opens the door for the model to remain in production in Toledo, OH, but only just a crack. Marchionne says that the new Wrangler would still use a large amount of aluminum, and there are "at least" two sites in contention for the assembly. The company doesn't have too long to make a decision because the model reportedly launches in 2017.
