Description:

1977 Jeep CJ5 up for grabs.  This Jeep is incredible; it gets attention everywhere it goes.  It is a complete off frame restoration, including a new frame and nearly all new parts on it.  It has taken about a year to complete the project; hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars have went into this Jeep.  If you are looking for a CJ with all the heavy lifting done for a low price...this is it.  I was originally going to take it to Barrett Jackson and auction it off, but with the few minor issues it has, and little time i have, i could not complete the mission.  This Jeep has nearly double the money/time into it than what the buy now price is asking.  It's priced for a quick sale because winter is coming up and i need my garage back with all the snow SLC gets.  I honestly hate to sell it, but it needs to go since there is no space and i refuse to let the Jeep sit outside.  The Jeep has never seen rain or snow since I've restored it and is only driven as a show car/ casual driver.  Please call with any questions or concerns before bidding. The engine has been freshened up and has 2,750 miles since being put back together. The frame is not the original frame, it came from a bodyshop that restores frames. It has been completely restored, reinforced, sand blasted and painted by a professional shop.

Milage on the body is unknown, the majority (almost every nut and bolt) of this Jeep has been restored or replaced with original and aftermarket parts. The title Reads "Odometer 0." So it is essentially a new 1977 CJ, however it is a used 1977 CJ5….

This Jeep has a mechanical clutch.  This means that since the upgraded V8 sits further back in the engine bay, meaning that it's closer to the flywheel and clutch.  We installed a mechanical clutch to fit right on par with the new engine.  When shifting gears, the clutch is only pushed in about 1/4 to 1/2 way.  It is controlled by a strong spring underneath and is made for easy shifting. (please contact with any questions)

The Issue's:

There are some chips on the top part of the Grill because the owner dropped it during final assembly putting it back together. The Fuel sending unit in the gas tank needs replaced which causes the gas gauge not to work (runs and drives fine). There are stress marks/fine cracks in the paint on the back of the tub near the passenger side brake light from the weight of the spare tire and assembly pulling on the back of the tub. A metal plate has been added to reinforce the fiberglass tub and the issue has been corrected. However, the paint still needs fixed. Also it has a very small oil leak coming from where engine and transmission meet. Also, the knob for the indicator lights has been broken off and will need to be replaced for the indicator lights to work. The final issue is that there is a locking lug nut on each wheel, however the lug nut key has been lost. So in order to take them off you will need to figure out a way to get them off. This Jeep does have some issue that need to be worked out but with a little bit of TLC this will be one of if not the best CJ5 on the Road.

Chrysler registers Trackhawk trademark

Wed, 01 Oct 2014

There may not be many ways to forecast what an automaker is planning for the future, but there are some. Trademark applications are one of them, and Chrysler has just applied with the US Patent and Trademark Office to protect the name "Trackhawk." The question is, what's it planning on using it for? We don't know for sure, but we can put together an educated guess or two. And one guess is that Jeep will use the name to replace the letters SRT on the performance version of the Grand Cherokee.
How do we figure, you ask? From a number of developments. For starters, the SRT division has been reintegrated into the Dodge brand. Those letters currently appear on only two vehicles from outside the Dodge lineup: one is the Grand Cherokee SRT, and the other is the Chrysler 300 SRT. We've heard ruminations (however unconfirmed) that the latter could be either discontinued or possibly relabeled, and if the same proves true of the GC, the Trackhawk name could serve as a on-road performance counterpart to the Trailhawk label applied to off-road versions of models like the Cherokee and Renegade.
Logical it may be, but it's hardly a foregone conclusion. The Trackhawk name could just as easily be used for a new concept (like the Trailhawk name was in 2007), for another kind of trim level or for something else entirely. In fact we don't even know for sure it'll be used by the Jeep brand specifically, or used at all for that matter. Automakers have been known, after all, to register names they don't end up using.

EV cost burden pushing automakers to their limits, says Stellantis' CEO Tavares

Wed, Dec 1 2021

DETROIT — Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said external pressure on automakers to quickly shift to electric vehicles potentially threatens jobs and vehicle quality as producers struggle with EVs' higher costs. Governments and investors want car manufacturers to speed up the transition to electric vehicles, but the costs are "beyond the limits" of what the auto industry can sustain, Tavares said in an interview at the Reuters Next conference released Wednesday. "What has been decided is to impose on the automotive industry electrification that brings 50% additional costs against a conventional vehicle," he said. "There is no way we can transfer 50% of additional costs to the final consumer because most parts of the middle class will not be able to pay." Automakers could charge higher prices and sell fewer cars, or accept lower profit margins, Tavares said. Those paths both lead to cutbacks. Union leaders in Europe and North America have warned tens of thousands of jobs could be lost. Automakers need time for testing and ensuring that new technology will work, Tavares said. Pushing to speed that process up "is just going to be counter productive. It will lead to quality problems. It will lead to all sorts of problems," he said. Tavares said Stellantis is aiming to avoid cuts by boosting productivity at a pace far faster than industry norm. "Over the next five years we have to digest 10% productivity a year ... in an industry which is used to delivering 2 to 3% productivity" improvement, he said. "The future will tell us who is going to be able to digest this, and who will fail," Tavares said. "We are putting the industry on the limits." Electric vehicle costs are expected to fall, and analysts project that battery electric vehicles and combustion vehicles could reach cost parity during the second half of this decade. Like other automakers that earn profits from combustion vehicles, Stellantis is under pressure from both establishment automakers such as GM, Ford, VW and Hyundai, as well as start-ups such as Tesla and Rivian. The latter electric vehicle companies are far smaller in terms of vehicle sales and employment. But investors have given Tesla and Rivian higher market valuations than the owner of the highly profitable Jeep and Ram brands. That investor pressure is compounded by government policies aimed at cutting greenhouse gas emissions. The European Union, California and other jurisdictions have set goals to end sales of combustion vehicles by 2035.
