1975 Jeep Cj5 (304 V8) Lifted W/31" Tires & Tilt Steering on 2040-cars
Lompoc, California, United States
Hello & Thanks for Looking, Up for auction is my personal 1975 Jeep CJ5 V8 Softop. I bought this as a basket-case and have sorted through this truck to make a truly reliable and fun Jeep. I've gone through and replaced almost all of the electrical connectors from the front turn signals to the new LED brake lights and almost all the wiring between. There are no electrical gremlins, and the alternator charges incredibly quickly. I've been using this Jeep as my daily driver for some time, and the farthest I've driven it is 350 miles in one way (8hr trip) . This CJ5 starts the first time, every time. As life would have it, my wife and I are expecting our first child so the Jeep has to go. It's a real shame because I've spent so much time and money to get this Jeep to the way you see it today. The condition report should be read at the bottom for consideration. With a little paint, this could easily be a $20,000 truck, because everything mechanical has pretty much been done. Buyer must co-ordinate shipping if buyer requires freight, but I'm very to work with a shipping company if needed. The Main Features of this Jeep are: Engine -Stock 304 V8 w/2bbl Carb -Engine Runs Very Strong with Almost 40psi Oil Pressure at Startup -All engine wiring sorted out, and everything works and verified Being over 40 years old, this CJ5 is in great mechanical shape. There are several nicks, and paint defects and with minimal rust (please see pictures). -This is a California truck, and has a current/clear CA title. The registration & plates will expire on 5/14/14, and will cost $19 to register after that date in CA. -The paint has been touched up, but it's an older metallic paint it is hard to match, but it is close. The hood has some clear coat damage, but still looks good. The cowl vent has a chrome blank panel installed, and the blue paint has chipped on the chrome. On the passenger/drivers side there are a couple bubbles under the paint near the jeep logo. -The transmission reverse gear synchros grind when going in reverse sometimes, but I added new fluid additives so it may go away. The synchros got worn because the previous owner used it as a parking brake. -The brakes pull slightly to the right initially, I believe it's a front pad issue since the previous owner drove this Jeep with the master cylinder/booster working. -Being a California Jeep, there isn't much rust for the age. The passenger side front tub support shows some old rust damage, but it's doing it's job (there's a photo from underneath)Typical small surface rust near the exterior reinforcement panel on both sides. These are all to be expected from a vehicle of this age. The CJ5 was made for utility so it's amazing these trucks survived at all! Please contact me if you have any questions of if you want to take a test drive. Also, please email me if you would like more photos (eBay will only allow 12 of my photos per auction). Please Ask Any Questions Before Bidding. A Deposit of $150 is Required from the Winning Bidder Within 72 hours (3days) After Auction to Cover eBay Fees

Jeep Liberty replacement takes shape
Wed, 16 Jan 2013Now that the Liberty has left us for greener pastures, it's time to start looking into the future of the midsize Jeep model. The next all-new vehicle for the off-road brand will be the SUV you see here, effectively replacing the Liberty, and not necessarily carrying on with that name.
From the sides, the prototype you see here sort of looks like a miniature version of the handsome Grand Cherokee, albeit with a bit more in the way of body sculpting. Up front, the seven-slat grille will be front and center, with completely revised headlamp designs that are reportedly angular and sweep well into the front fenders (you can sort of see what we're talking about in the side profile). That doesn't sound very Jeep-like, but we'll reserve judgment until we, you know, see the thing.
The bigger question with the Liberty replacement will be whether or not its off-road chops will be up to snuff. After all, the two previous generations of Liberty models were body-on-frame traditional SUVs, whereas this new Jeep rides on a larger version of the Dodge Dart platform.
2015 Easter Jeep Safari Concepts First Drive
Wed, Apr 8 2015Imagine if once a year your grandmother made a chocolate cake. Not a chocolate cake, that chocolate cake. Blow-your-mind chocolate cake. But she won't ever let you have any – you can only have the spatula and whatever's left over in the mixing bowl. And you don't care. You look forward to that spatula and bowl every year because – "Gadzooks!" – that is some stupendous cake. For us, that cake is the Easter Jeep Safari. An annual pilgrimage to Moab, Utah for a taste of what Fiat-Chrysler's off-road brand has cooked up in its Design Dome. "No, you can't have any," the company tells us, "but you can taste it here, then dream about it until next Easter." In Detroit, Jeep gave us a close look at the seven concepts it built for this year's 49th annual event. Then it went a step further and took those show cars to Mill Canyon, UT, to crawl the red rocks in Jeep's natural habitat. After all, the company calls Moab, "Our home away from home." And it's not true that we never get more than a taste of Jeep's conceptual goodness – 2011's JK8 pickup conversion kit is a slice of Safari creation we can now take home, for instance, as are the hood decals that adorned two of the concepts we drove this year. Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar, told us that the evolution of Jeep Performance Parts came from listening to journalists and customers in his first year on the job in 2010. So there's that. But still, we want more cake. Like a full-on production Wrangler Africa. These being one-of-a-kind prototypes traipsing through a canyon of nearly immovable objects, we didn't go fast, we didn't go far, we didn't push hard. But we did drive all the Easter Jeeps, and even just this small taste was outstanding. View 30 Photos Jeep Chief While we listened attentively to the detailed spiels on all this conceptual candy, one question ran through our minds: "How am I going to get in the Chief before everyone else?" And we could see the same thought every colleague's face, those scheming bastards. And why not? The Ocean Blue tribute to the venerable Cherokee of old grabbed everyone's attention since the first teaser images weeks before the event, in part because the vintage truck is up there with mermaids for rarity and lustworthiness. Anything that goes this far in obeisance to that classic Jeep is always going to score huge marks. The Chief is a four-door Wrangler underneath, but in many ways it feels nothing like a Wrangler.
AEV Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon
Fri, 28 Feb 2014
After their rented 2007 Hummer H3 failed them during the brutal Rallye Aicha des Gazelles in Morocco, Amy Lerner and her sister Tricia Reina were on a quest to find the most capable production off-roader for their next competition - they chose a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. Their next mission was to find a company with the competence to configure it to win. After poring over Internet forums and perusing countless magazines for an outfitter who could meet their demanding requirements, they sent their bright orange JK ("Crush" is the official color) to American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) for some modifications.
The Michigan-based team at AEV kept the Jeep's 3.6-liter V6 and automatic transmission stock, but replaced the hood with a tall AEV Heat Reduction Hood and added an AEV Snorkel Kit for water crossings (it serves double-duty as its raised height helps to keep the air intake out of the kicked-up dust on the trail). Front and rear off-road bumpers were bolted in place, and AEV skid plates were added to provide additional undercarriage protection. A pair of IPF-900 off-road lights improve visibility, while a 10.2-gallon AEV Fuel Caddy (located behind the exterior spare) added some range. The suspension was upgraded with a 3.5-inch lift kit with Bilstein remote reservoir shocks, and 35-inch Falken Wildpeak A/T tires (LT285/70R17) were mounted at all four corners on AEV's beadlock wheels.
