1965 Jeep Cj-5 Tuxedo Park Iv, Dauntless V6, Overdrive, Fresh Frame Off Restore on 2040-cars
Kempton, Pennsylvania, United States
This is an incredibly restored 1965 Jeep CJ-5 Tuxedo Park Mark IV, Dauntless Buick V6, 3 speed and overdrive. The overdrive can be used in any gear, giving you 6 forward speeds if you want them. Powerlock differential front and rear. I am the first titled registered owner since it's restoration was completed in 2012. It was then delivered to a dealer in Connecticut and then purchased by me. I've owned it over one year. The restoration was done by Gary Abby, a long time Jeep enthusiast in Shippensburg, Pa. Mr. Abby told me the following, that he purchased the Jeep from the original owners grandson in Chambersburg PA but the Jeep originally came from West Virginia. The mileage is said to be original. The restoration was done to 1965 1/2 specs with every available option. The Buick V6 is vintage correct, (being made as an available option in Aug 65) It is a 66 block but not original to this particular Jeep. This Jeep came with an I4 but was upgraded during its recent restoration. The transmission is the original T90 but rebuilt with a new gear set and top shifter. The gears are angle cut for easier shifting and were special ordered from California. It has a Husky-Warn type overdrive which I personally had rebuilt by Herm the Overdrive Guy this summer. With the V6 and overdrive, you have no problem doing 65 on the highway, then get to dirt and crawl along in four low. That's pretty amassing for a 65 CJ. The Top is an aftermarket dealer installed option. I prefer this top over the factory one because the doors come off on pins for summer use, and you don't have to remove the whole top. I've put about 300-400 miles on the Jeep, so it's had a good shakedown. There are no problems with this Jeep. I do not, however drive it any any inclement whether. My dad had one of these when I was a kid, hence my purchase, but I'd hate to drive in on our salted northeastern roads, it's just too nice to drive and mess up, so I decided to sell it. I'll consider up or down trades too. I'm mostly interested classic, vintage or special edition motorcycles, maybe also Pontiac muscle cars, 66-69 Buick Rivieras and classic rear wheel drive Cadillacs. No projects or customs. The hubcaps are said to be NOS, possibly worth some dough, but I'm not sure they're correct, or at least, I don't have the trim rings. I do have a restored matching rear jump seat, but this was not correct for the Tuxedo Park model which has padded wheel wells. You can install the rear Jeep seat if you want, but have to drill holes in a brand spanking new floor for a non-original seat. I did not do this. There also are more pix on photobucket. Search there for user dnaj11 or email me for link, or to make an appointment to see the Jeep. I'll be happy to send you or take more photos if you need them.

2015 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk [w/video]
Mon, Jan 26 2015There are two avenues to the world of off-roading. Arguably the more popular is to pick up a second- or third-hand Jeep, Land Rover or pickup truck and go wild with the aftermarket. The opposite approach, though, is to simply buy new, which brings a warranty along with the most up-to-date off-road tech fitted by the factory (despite likely lacking the ultimate capability of an aftermarket-imbued vehicle). That second option has, traditionally, been pricey. Take our long-term Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, which rings up at just over $38,000. A Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is going to be an even more expensive proposition, while the undisputed kings of luxury off-road performance from the factory – the Range Rover, Toyota Land Cruiser and Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen – will require ownership of a medium-sized oil well. With all due respect to those who take their Trail-Rated Jeep Patriot models off-road, the all-new Renegade Trailhawk is such an exciting proposition because it brings the cost of a warranty-backed off-roader down significantly, while also delivering a degree of trail-rated performance that should easily fulfill the needs of the average enthusiast. Drive Notes Before we get into what it adds, it's worth noting that the Trailhawk trim does have a small impact on the Renegade's on-road abilities. As we said in our original feature, the TH adds a significant amount of weight to the standard CUV, as it tips the scales at nearly 3,600 pounds. That mass, combined with the slightly higher stance, means the off-road model doesn't handle quite as well as a lesser Jeep. It also doesn't feel as fleet of foot, as it retains the same 2.4-liter, 180-horsepower four-cylinder and nine-speed automatic found throughout the Renegade range. Despite the downers, the Trailhawk trim does bring quite a lot to the Renegade package, most notably in the form of a bespoke version of Jeep's Active Drive all-wheel-drive system. The upgraded system features a dedicated 20:1 crawl ratio while the Selec-Terrain system is home to a new Rock setting. Beyond that, Jeep lifted the Renegade's ride height eight-tenths of an inch, increasing overall ground clearance to 8.7 inches and delivering 8.1 inches of wheel articulation. This is complemented by unique front- and rear-fascias, which up the approach and departure angles to 30.5 and 34.3 degrees, respectively, besting the Cherokee Trailhawk's 29.8 degrees and 32.1 degrees.
Jeep Cherokee finally dealer-bound
Tue, 22 Oct 2013We had our First Drive of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee last month, but it appears that prospective buyers won't have too much longer to finally get time behind the wheel of the new small Jeep.
Automotive News is reporting that after a two-month delay, Jeep dealers will finally start receiving their first shipments of the new Cherokee, in the next 10 days. A Chrysler spokesperson confirmed to Autoblog that the Cherokee is indeed on its way to Jeep dealers.
According to AN, about 23,000 Cherokees have been built since production commenced back in June, but potential powertrain issues forced Jeep to make adjustments to the Cherokee along the way. Automotive News says that in order to make sure there are no issues with the Cherokee before it reaches customers, it is testing each vehicle after it rolls off the assembly line at a rented test track near the vehicle's Toledo North Assembly Plant.
Freak accident during Jeep demonstration turns fatal
Mon, 20 May 2013A 20-year-old woman was killed in Edmonton, Canada on Satuday, reports CTV News, in a freak accident resulting from a rollover during a Jeep demonstration. As part of a fundraising enthusiast event called "Jeeps Go Topless," the driver of one Jeep Wrangler drove up and onto the top of the tire of another.
CTV reports that the owner of the topmost Jeep then switched the vehicle off, posed for pictures and then dismounted from his vehicle. His movement off of the Jeep apparently caused it to tip over, crushing a woman who was on top of an adjacent vehicle. Edmonton police are currently investigating more fully what caused the parking lot accident to occur. Scroll below to watch the CTV News video report about this tragic incident.
