KARS Unlimited Inc. built this 1946 Willy's CJ2A. They are a professional restoration shop and can be seen at karsunlimitedinc.com and now currently selling this Jeep for the owner. His age and health has made him decide to let it go. He used the Jeep for parades and car shows. The Jeep was featured in Gulf Coast motorsports Magazine in July of 2010. The Jeep was completed in 2010 with most of the parts being replaced or rebuilt. The paint was completely stripped and all rust was either cut out and fabricated or replaced. The floors, both front fenders, hood, windshield frame, and grill were replaced. Almost all suspension parts were replaced including new springs, bushings, front and back. The seats and frames were replaced. New Glass installed. All electrical wiring tail lights, headlights, and gauges were installed. New exhaust system. Upgraded with new alternator and switched over to 12 volts. New fuel tank and sending unit was also replaced. New brakes and lines Over $30,000.00 has been spent restoring the great Jeep. GMC boss wants a Jeep Wrangler rival
Wed, 12 Nov 2014Challengers come and challengers go, but the Jeep Wrangler continues to push forward even after vehicles like the Toyota FJ Cruiser and the entire Hummer brand have been shut down. Now GMC reportedly wants to take a stab at the quintessential Jeep, as well.
The news comes directly from Buick-GMC vice president Duncan Aldred, speaking with our compatriots over at Edmunds. Although Aldred said there are no plans currently on the table to expand GMC's lineup beyond the current range, "there is plenty of room everywhere in the hierarchy."
That could include a rival to the Wrangler, as well as a flagship luxury SUV positioned above the current Yukon Denali (pictured above). Just when (or for that matter, if) such models might come into fruition remains a big question mark, but it's certainly interesting to see what GM's dedicated truck brand has on the drawing board.
Next Jeep Wrangler to keep solid axles
Mon, Feb 16 2015Jeep fans, you're not out of the woods yet, but the latest news is good: Automotive News reports that the next-generation Wrangler will stick with floating solid axles front and rear. Fiat-Chrysler wouldn't comment on the report, but the theory is that the combination of cost, capability, and ease of modification were deciding factors. We're sure the multibillion dollar aftermarket industry is also pleased. Remember, Jeep showed off the lifted Cherokee Dakar Concept at the Easter Jeep Safari last year, but the first ingredient in the recipe for jacking up its independent suspension was, "a whole new suspension." Above that there will be an aluminum body that's smaller than the current one, which Allpar says could be done with a narrower track and tighter gaps. It will sport a fixed windshield with increased rake to improve aero efficiency, and while there are rumors of a diesel-engined version that we'll finally get in the US, there's been no reliable info as of yet to back that up. Chrysler recalls 468,700 Jeep Grand Cherokees, Commanders over rollaway risk
Mon, 13 May 2013Chrysler has issued a recall covering a combined 469,000 units of the 2005-2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the 2006-2010 Jeep Commander (inset). Of that number, 295,000 are in the US, roughly 33,000 in Canada and Mexico and the remainder in other markets. It seems an electrical fault in the transfer case can allow the affected SUVs to shift into neutral on their own, while an Associated Press report says that Chrysler had "found cracks in a circuit board that turns the four-wheel-drive system on and off." The issue was discovered when an owner started his car remotely and it rolled away.
Chrysler is expected to begin notifying owners in June 2013, who can then take their cars to dealers. The dealer will reflash the final drive controller free of charge. There's a bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration below with more information.
