Check out the cheapest 4.2L XKR Convertible on the internet period!  I am helping my friend sell his car as he is moving back to New York and will have no need for a vehicle especially a convertible with winter coming!  I have had a chance to have the car in my possession for a couple of weeks now and have gone through it and this is a VERY solid car.

My friend Bought the car in March of this year from the original owner in Alpharetta Georgia.  The car was purchased with 146,000 miles on it and was serviced for its ENTIRE life at Nalley Automotive - Jaguar.  I have over $13,000 worth of receipts dating back from when the car had 29k miles on it till when the car was purchased in march where it had another $700 dollar service done before it was sold.  The previous owner used the car almost exclusively for highway driving as he commuted a long distance to and from work every day.  Do not let the miles scare you the maintenance records alone show the care and money put into the long term maintenance of this car.

Body

The body is almost flawless which completely amazed me.  I could not find a single ding on the entire car and the back bumper (thanks parking sensors!) looks brand new!
The front bumper because of the highway driving does have rock chips on it as well as one small crack that looks to be easily repaired from behind.  If someone painted the current bumper or put a new front bumper on it the exterior of the car would really be almost perfect!

Interior

The interior is black leather with wood gran trim surrounding the dash.   It has the Alpine sound system with CD changer in the trunk.  From what I can tell everything works on the inside including the power retractable top.  It has the black leather Recaro seats in it.  They have no tears or rips in them and besides being a big dry are in good shape.  The back seats are in excellent condition.  It does have the factory navigation. When it is turned on it says something a bout the navigation CD.  I did not try and look into this but my friend said that when he did use the factory navigation it worked fine.

Drive train

After driving it the transmission seems perfect.  No slipping or issues that I am aware of.  I have not driven an XKR before this so I am not sure how they are supposed to feel but the transmission seems to shift fine.

I made sure to NOT clean the engine bay for the new owner.  This is exactly how the motor was given to me and I feel this is important to show how it is rather then trying to dress it up.  All fluids look clean and filled.  I recently checked all intake plumbing and vacuum hoses for leaks and besides tightening a few clamps found no issues as well.  I also hooked up my OBD 2 scanner to the car to check for engine codes (engine light was off) and there were no stored codes either.

Brakes and tires

The tires are the original equipment Pirelli PZERO tires.  Two of them were replaced in March and the other two were in excellent condition.  these are very expensive tires and they look to be almost new!

The brakes come with the large red calipers and slotted rotors.  I know the owner let me know the brake rotors need to be cleaned often to make sure they stopped properly.  The pads and fluid looks good but the brakes seem to not stop as fast as I thought they might. This could be perfectly normal as I am not used to driving a very fast heavy touring car.  There is no noise from the brakes and seem to be in good condition.

Only known Issues I have found

The Airbag light is on on the vehicle.  It blinks two times when the car is turned on and after some research it seems this is an indication of a one of the airbag sensors either on the back of the seat or the bottom of it.  The HAL sensor is known to go bad and this seems to be the issue.  I had the capacity to reset the code but I decided against this so the new owner knows of this small issue.  Because of the mechanic checking this out the back of the leather seats were un clipped to have access to this.  New clips are needed to put the small trim sides back on but since these will probably be taken off again to fix the issue I decided to leave it as is.  Besides this issue There are NO other lights on the dash, warning lights or any other issues that I can find.  This well maintained car looks to be in very solid condition and you can get a 90k dollar super car for a fraction of the cost!

Terms and Shipping.

I have no problem shipping the car anywhere in the continental USA for the new owner.  The new owner will pay for all shipping cost but I am familiar with doing this and will assist where I can.  A $500.00 deposit is due within 48 hours of the close of auction.  The remaining payment will need to be sent to me either through bank transfer or overnight cashier check.  The title will then be mailed with a copy of the owners front an back of his driver license.  I have 100% Ebay feedback and will make sure this transaction is VERY easy and quick to ensure everyone is happy!  If you are local and want to check the car out please message me to set up an appointment I have no problem showing the vehicle!

Driving Jaguar's Continuation Lightweight E-Type

Thu, Sep 24 2015

Something has happened to sports cars over the past 15-20 years. While reaching ever-higher levels of quantitative dominance the driving experience continues to become more sterile. Stability control, torque vectoring, variable electronic steering racks, lightning-quick dual-clutch automatic transmissions – all these make it easier to harness more power and drive faster than ever before. And yet too often it feels like something is missing. There is a growing divide between the capabilities of the modern performance car and the driver's sense of connection to the experience. In an era like the one we're in now, the Jaguar Lightweight E-Type hits you like a slap in the face. The story of the Lightweight E-Type goes back to 1963, when Jaguar set aside eighteen chassis numbers for a run of "Special GT E-Type" cars. These were factory-built racers with aluminum bodies, powered by the aluminum-block, 3.8-liter inline-six found in Jaguar's C- and D-Type LeMans racecars of the 1950s. Of the eighteen cars slated for production, only twelve were built and delivered to customers in 1964. For the next fifty years, those last six chassis numbers lay dormant, until their rediscovery a couple of years ago in a book in Jaguar's archives. In an era like the one we're in now, the Jaguar Lightweight E-Type hits you like a slap in the face. Jaguar Heritage, a section of Jaguar Land Rover's new Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division, took on the task of researching the original Lightweight E-Types and developing the methods to create new ones. Every aspect of the continuation Lightweight E-Type, from the development of the tools and molds used to build the cars, to the hand-craftsmanship, reflects doing things the hard way. They may not build them like they used to, but with these six special E-Types, Jaguar comes awfuly close, if not better. Working alongside the design team, Jaguar Heritage made a CAD scan of one side of an original Lightweight E-Type body. That scan was flipped to create a full car's worth of measurements. That ensured greater symmetry and better fit than on the original Lightweight E-Types (which could see five to ten millimeter variance, left-to-right). The scan was also used to perfect the frame, while Jaguar looked through notes in its crash repair books to reverse-engineer the Lightweight E-Type's suspension. The team repurposed a lot of existing tooling for the continuation cars, and developed the rest from analysis of the CAD scan.

Jaguar hints at what might become of XK after F-Type's arrival

Wed, 02 Jan 2013

Jaguar may move the company's XK further upmarket following the introduction of its forthcoming F-Type. The newcomer to the range easily shoulders the burden of carrying the Jaguar sportscar mantle, freeing up the XK to evolve in another direction. While speaking with Autocar, Jaguar Design Director Ian Callum said there's an opportunity to grow the grand tourer both in size and luxury.
Whether that means the vehicle will retain its two-plus-two seating configuration or swell to offer buyers even more space remains to be seen. Either way, the future will likely see the XK soften its claws moving forward. And that's no bad thing. Jaguar has a long history of building luxurious grand tourers more content to soak up miles of highway than bounce from apex to apex.
What else is in store for the brand? Callum seems to have kept his cards close to his chest, refusing to acknowledge ongoing rumors of a Jaguar crossover beyond saying the brand "had to take notice" of the popularity of the luxury SUV market.

Jaguar Land Rover considering Mexican plant

Mon, Apr 27 2015

Jaguar Land Rover has been expanding its production out of the UK and into overseas markets, and according to the latest word from Bloomberg, the British automaker is considering spending more than half a billion dollars to build a new assembly plant somewhere in Mexico. Since the Range Rover Sport and Evoque are two of the company's top sellers in the US, those would reportedly be the most likely to be manufactured at the Mexican plant, although Jaguars could follow as well. The automaker was previously said to be leaning towards a location in the Southern US, and while it could conceivably proceed with plans for both, it would be more likely to go with one or the other. State and local authorities below the Mason-Dixon line have been soliciting the business with various incentives, but lower labor costs South of the Border could prove more attractive to JLR and its parent company Tata. It wouldn't be the first, after all. Over the past month alone, General Motors committed to building the next Chevy Cruze in Mexico, Toyota did the same with the Corolla, Hyundai was reported to be considering a similar step, and Ford announced two new plants in the country amounting to a $2.5-billion investment. Luxury automakers like Audi, BMW and Mercedes have also been delving into Mexican production as well, blazing a path that JLR could potentially follow. The British automaker recently opened a plant in China and another in Brazil, while investing in additional facilities in the UK as well.
