Few automotive marquees have the romance and the heritage of Jaguars. From the beginning in the 1930’s to the present its sedans have been their specialty, sports car have been acclaimed for theirs designed and more importantly for their performance. Texas Classic Cars of Dallas is proud to present this 2000 Jaguar XKR supercharged convertible.

Dropping the supercharged version of a 4.0L engine created the XKR; it was the fastest accelerating car in the current Jaguar line ever.  There is absolutely no lack of power, not with 370 horses on tap.

Showcasing a red paint, the XKR it is distinguished by its wire mesh grille, functional hood louvers, small duck tail and 18 inch five spoke alloy wheels.

A gorgeous car with classic proportions, and turns heads even in upscale areas where high end cars are the norm.

 photo IMG_8100.jpg

Everything on this car is special, the paint job is in excellent condition, and when the top is down there is no better color than red to turn heads.

When it comes to comfort many sports cars have tried to make it look luxurious, but it seems like just a few have actually got it right and the Jaguar line is one of them.

The instrument panel is entirely accented with wood grain, with additional accents found on the steering wheel, doors and console.

The instruments are deeply set into the panel so when the top is down glare is no problem. For the cold weather the leather tan seats come equipped with heat and super comfortable as well.

In the rear seat will hold two small adults. There isn’t much cabin storage but the trunk is big enough to hold  luggage.

 photo IMG_8130.jpg

Very nice features come along with the car, cruise control and low mileage make this car even better.

 photo IMG_8133.jpg

 photo IMG_8135.jpg

The mileage is correct and 1000 of these miles came when the car was new and was one of four that  were allowed to participate in the 2000 California Mille. This is an annual event which only allows cars that are 1957 or older. Jaguar is one of the sponsors of this run which starts each year at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco and runs 1000 miles through some of the most beautiful countryside of northern California. They were allowed to have 4 of the new 2000 supercharged XKRs participate in this event.

Heat/AC are working properly for each season of the year, and the AM/FM radio/cassette player are still working as well.

 photo IMG_8141.jpg

The top is raised or lowered quickly with the touch of a button.

 photo IMG_8145.jpg

The Jaguar has been well maintained and only serviced at Jaguar dealers in it's 13 years.

 photo IMG_8147.jpg

When it comes to performance Jaguars know how to work it. Power is plenty from the XKR supercharged version of the 4.0L Jaguar AJ-V8 engine. The car has 370hp and 387 lb ft maximum. The result is a 5 speed automatic transmission refines and seamless of power.

Lister Knobbly returning to limited production for 60th anniversary

Sat, Feb 1 2014

Lister Cars was one of the pedigree names of British racing from its founding in 1954 and then on and off until the early 2000s. The company combined its own lightweight chassis with engines from other manufacturers, many of them British (and especially from Jaguar). Last year, the name and the intellectual property were sold to a new company that planned to revive the brand. For Lister's 60th anniversary, it is building a new version of one of its most famous racecars, the 1958 Lister-Jaguar Knobbly. The 2014 Listers are built to the exact specifications of the original cars, and the aluminum bodies are hand-formed on the original jigs. It is offered in racing trim starting at 249,000 pounds ($409,618) and is certified for FIA historic racing. There's also a road-legal version starting at 259,000 pounds ($426,060), if you don't intend to race but do intend to drive. There are two engines available, just like in the original car. A reproduction Jaguar D-Type 3.8-liter inline-six with dry-sump lubrication pumps out 330 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque with a four-speed Jaguar gearbox. The other option is a 4.6-liter Chevy V8 with 315 hp and 290 lb-ft with a four-speed manual transmission. The Chevy-engined version also gets a slightly altered body with a higher hood to clear the engine. The first 2014 Listers will be delivered in the UK this April. Unlike many of these boutique sportscars, the racing version will be available to US buyers, but Lister won't federalize the road version due to the high cost. Scroll down to get all of the details about the revived racer. LISTER MOTOR COMPANY LAUNCHES NEW 60th ANNIVERSARY BROCHURE AS THE ORDER BOOKS BEGIN TO FILL New 60th Anniversary Lister Jaguar brochure now available 50 per cent of 2014 production already sold First cars to be delivered in April, 2014 Road-going variant to be offered at GBP259,000 + tax Race-going version to be GBP249,000 + tax. Following the recently announced purchase of the Lister Motor Company in May 2013, the company is delighted to announce that it has now published its 60thAnniversary Lister Jaguar brochure, which fully outlines the specifications for its fantastic recreation of the iconic Lister Jaguar 'Knobbly' racing car.

Jaguar planning all-electric E-Pace crossover

Mon, Oct 26 2015

Jaguar hasn't quite finished rolling out the new F-Pace (pictured above), and already reports are circulating of another crossover model to join it in the near future. According to Automobile, it'll be called the E-Pace. Here's the kicker: it'll be all-electric. The E-Pace would take advantage of ultra-efficient aerodynamics in order to drop its drag coefficient to just 0.28 g, thereby increasing efficiency. It'd also be the first fully electric model from Jaguar, and would likely be even smaller than the sporty new F-Pace. Through-the-road all-wheel drive would give it poor weather traction, and the electric motors would provide plenty of low-end punch. The model would go up against the Tesla Model X and a potential production version of the Audi E-Tron Quattro concept revealed in Frankfurt. Rather than handle production in-house, the E-Pace could emerge as the mysterious upcoming model which Jaguar Land Rover is planning to have Magna Steyr build on its behalf. The factory in Graz, Austria has long built the G-Class for Mercedes-Benz, continues to assemble the Mini Countryman, and has also handled models like the Aston Martin Rapide and BMW X3. Automobile figures that Jaguar would need to make at least 20,000 units each year to make the model profitable. For comparison's sake, Tesla is projected to move about 33,000 Model S units in 2015. Even if the E-Pace falls short of this target, the project could be worthwhile for JLR purely for publicity purposes and to help cut its average fleet emissions. Related Video:

Jaguar Heritage to auction off part of its classic-car collection

Mon, Feb 19 2018

A few years back it was reported that Jaguar Land Rover had purchased the James Hull classic car collection in its entirety. The collection is beyond significant, as it was at the time of sale the biggest single collection of British cars in the world and the largest private car collection in the UK. Consisting of 543 cars, it ranged from the mundane to the obscure, including some extremely rare prototypes. There were 130 Jaguars, for example, from the C-type to the D-type to the XKSS. When the cars were put up for sale in 2014, the asking price was a not-insubstantial $170 million. JLR didn't reveal how much it spent to buy the cars, but now it seems the carmaker is about to recoup some of those costs. At least 50 cars from the collection will be sold by auction house Brightwells, as part of the Affordable Classics at Bicester sale on March 21; some reports have said JLR would be eventually offloading as many as 100 cars. Looking at the listing, there are some definite gems in there. Not all cars are British, as there are Citroens, Mercedes-Benzes, a Fiat and a Goggomobil. Jaguars and Land Rovers are notably absent from Brightwells' listing, which we take as a clue that the sale will consist of cars not crucial to JLR's wellbeing and heritage. That said, for a lover of British cars there's a possibility to grab something truly interesting: For example, the Reliant Scimitar Ferguson 4x4 Prototype must be worth preserving. A 4WD pioneer also known for Massey-Ferguson tractors, Ferguson fitted its system in Jensens as well as a prototype 4WD Mustang in the 1960s. The fiberglass-bodied Reliant sports car is an interesting sidenote in Ferguson's history. Then there's a Vauxhall Chevette 2300 HS, which is a veritable rally-bred RWD hot hatch in comparison to the American market Chevrolet Chevette, its distant relative. On the hot hatch front, there are also Metro and Maestro turbos, which offer plenty of poke in a light, boxy body. Or if you view the internet's popular "Worst Cars Ever Made" lists as shopping lists, you could build your own collection of slightly dodgy cars: Start with the unfortunate-looking Vanden Plas Allegro, continue to the malaise-tastic Morris Ital Camper, and finish it off with a late-model Lada Riva wagon from the mid-1990s. Some cars are in tip-top shape, and some are best seen as restoration projects, like the very pretty Borgward Isabella coupe from 1960.
