2003 Jaguar Xk8 Convertible on 2040-cars
Owasso, Oklahoma, United States
The odometer is almost to125,000 miles and I'm responsible for 95,000 of them over the last 7 years. This XK8 has consistently provided fun and reliable, transportation. As a bonus, it gets pretty decent gas mileage. In my normal drive to and from work with local errands I average a touch over 22 mpg. I've gotten as much as 29.8 on a drive to the east coast, with 25 or so easily achievable on the highway. I'm selling it because I bought a supercharged version. The 4.2 liter V8 runs great and delivers its power to the rear axle through a six speed ZF auto gearbox. This engine is an improvement over its predecessors with increased displacement, iron cylinder liners, and much improved cam chain tensioners. I have not modified the car and have kept up with maintenance over the years. I am the third owner and on my watch it has never been smoked in and has always been serviced with synthetic oil at the manufacturer's recommended interval. It doesn't need oil added between changes. To hit the high spots, I’ve replaced the covering on the A posts and header panel, had the leather touched up, replaced plugs and a couple ignition coils, replaced the valve cover gaskets, and recently replaced all of the heater and cooling hoses. Another notable item was replacement of the convertible top latch hoses a couple years ago. This car is sold as is, where is, and without any warranty expressed or implied. I will endeavor to answer any questions in a prompt and forthright manner. Bidders are encouraged to conduct their own research and enter into any transaction with due diligence. The car is listed locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early. Please - No silly offers of paying 100% through PayPal with me paying your transportation or similar scam-like ideas.

Jaguar C-X17 Concept teased before Frankfurt
Sun, 01 Sep 2013Just ahead of the Frankfurt Motor Show, which begins September 10, Jaguar is teasing the reveal of a design study to introduce its new advanced vehicle architecture. Dubbed the C-X17, the mysterious concept "illustrates the diversity of vehicles that could be produced using this architecture, which underpins the innovative future of the Jaguar brand."
While it's not entirely clear what this architecture involves or what type of vehicle the C-X17 may be, this reveal is reminiscent of Jaguar's decision to unveil the C-X16 concept, a hybrid electric sports car, in Frankfurt in 2011. From the looks of the teaser image Jaguar released (click above to enlarge), we're guessing the C-X17 will be something between a low-slung crossover and a sporty wagon. But we won't have to wait too long to find out - Jaguar is streaming the live pre-show reveal to invited guests on its Facebook page on Monday, Sept. 9.
In addition to the C-X17, Jaguar be showing off the performance-oriented XJR and XFR-S, and, of course, the F-Type convertible. Scroll down for the official press release.
Jaguar-based Eagle E-Type Low Drag GT makes its bid for most beautiful car ever with EVO
Fri, 28 Feb 2014The Jaguar E-Type is one of the icons of automotive design, and British company Eagle has made a business out of restoring, upgrading and building their bespoke versions for the last 30 years. It does for the E-Type what Singer does for the Porsche 911 - takes an already great classic car and updates its mechanicals for the modern age.
The firm's latest creation, the Low Drag GT, might be its greatest ever, at least according to editor Henry Catchpole in Evo magazine's latest video. The car takes its inspiration from a trio of low-drag E-Type coupes built in the 1960s, but thoroughly modernizes the concept. The engine is based on Jag's inline-six, but made from aluminum and bored out to 4.7 liters to produce 346 horsepower and 360 pound-feet of torque. Catchpole says it's enough to propel it to 60 miles per hour in about 4.5 seconds. The body, transmission and differential are all also made from aluminum to cut the weight to 2,288 pounds, and modern upgrades include Ohlins dampers, AP Racing brakes and even extras like concealed GPS navigation and an Alcantara headliner. There's more head- and legroom than the originals, too.
Each car is built bespoke for each buyer, so prices vary, but Catchpole says the one he is in would run about half the cost of a LaFerrari - around $700,000.
Jaguar to finish building six remaining Lightweight E-Types
Thu, 15 May 2014Back in February of 1963, Jaguar set about making a small run of lightweight E-Types. It recrafted the bodywork out of aluminum, shoehorned in a 3.8-liter straight-six with an aluminum block, stripped out the interior, removed the chrome trim and fitted lighter-weight side windows. The result was a 250-pound reduction in curb weight and a commensurate increase in performance, especially evident on the race track. The company originally set about building 18 examples, but only managed 12. The remaining six were allocated chassis numbers, but were never built. That is, until now.
Fifty years since the last of the original 12 lightweight E-Types were completed, Jaguar has announced that it is preparing to resume production and complete the final six examples. The company has assigned its top craftsmen to the job, who will build the half-dozen continuation Lightweights to the same exact specifications as the original dozen. Former sister-company and perennial arch-rival Aston Martin undertook a similar task (or at least authorized Zagato to do so) when it sanctioned four continuation examples of the original DB4 GT Zagato based on original chassis numbers in 1988, and another two based on original body shells and stock DB4 chassis in 1992.
Jaguar has not yet announced pricing and availability for the continuation Lightweights, but the first old-is-new example is set to debut this summer, whereupon Coventry will release further details. You can bet, though, that each one will be snapped up rather quick at just about any price the British automaker cares to put on them.
