1954 Jaguar Xk 120 Concours 2-seat Roadster on 2040-cars
North Little Rock, Arkansas, United States
In May 1949, Jaguar demonstrated an XK120 roadster to the press on the high-speed AutoRoute in Belgium. The road was closed for the occasion. With hood and side screens erected, and the airflow under the car improved by the addition of a full-length aluminum under tray, the Jaguar was timed through the flying mile by the Royal Automobile Club of Belgium at 126.448 mph. With hood, side screens and the windscreen removed, and a metal airflow deflector fitted in front of the driver, the speed improved to 136.596MPH.
The XK120 was significant not only because of its sporting elegance and its high standards of refinement and comfort, but also because it introduced into the history of the automobile one of the most successful engines ever. Offered for sale is this exceptional numbers-matching and factory correct 1954 Jaguar XK120. This beautiful roadster has 96,000 miles showing on the odometer (and documented). This vehicle has been meticulously maintained and cared for and it needs nothing. The car is mechanically fantastic, the transmission is perfect and the car rides and drives smoothly without any hesitation. The car has a factory new black canvas top still in the box, unrestored original side curtains, spare tire and tools. This is a show car that can be driven, and wants to be driven, yet still looks like a new car. The car is for sale world wide and available for export. International buyers are welcomed. The car is in stunning condition and others are certainly not even close to as nice as this one. |

Reliving the Jaguar XJ220 with a father-son duo
Sat, Mar 14 2015Jaguar may have canceled the C-X75 project, but there was a time when the Leaping Cat marque did make supercars. Sure, there were the XJR-9 and XJR-15 homologation specials made by TWR, but more famous was the XJ220. Although its reign may have lasted only a year before the McLaren F1 came along, for a brief time in the early 1990s, the XJ220 was the fastest car in the world – which is even more impressive when you consider that it was only powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 when its rivals were using mostly V8s and V12s. That makes the XJ220 a rather noteworthy supercar from the dawn of the 200-mph era. The thing is, while Jaguar has come to embrace the XJ220 as an exceptional part of its history, it doesn't have the time or energy to devote to servicing the 275 that were made between 1992 and 1994. So it turns to Don Law Racing. The father-son team – made up of a master mechanic and his hot-shoe offspring – is tasked with keeping the XJ220 alive both in body and in spirit, and do so with a great deal of well-deserved pride. Drive went out to their workshop in Staffordshire to tell their story.
Jaguar XE promises to net 'over 75 mpg,' just not for us [w/video]
Tue, 29 Jul 2014With around a month away from its world debut on September 8, Jaguar continues to issue a constant drip of updates about its upcoming XE compact luxury sedan that's aiming to take on the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4. Where the company's last bit of info focused on the car's suspension setup, this time Jag's putting the spotlight on the new model's modular platform and making some big promises about it, too. How big? Try over 75 miles per gallon big.
That's the headline figure that Jaguar is claiming for its new sedan, but it's keeping mum on just what powertrain will realize that figure. Furthermore, that result is on the European test cycle, which is more lenient than America's EPA testing regime. In any case, when the XE hits the road, Jag says it will be the most efficient vehicle from the company, ever.
That's thanks in no small part to the aluminum-intensive monocoque chassis underpinning the sedan. It's constructed from a new grade of the lightweight metal called RC 5754 that uses a high portion of recycled material. "The Jaguar XE body uses over 75-percent aluminum content, which far exceeds any other car in its class. This gives us a body structure with unrivaled low weight: it's light but also immensely strong with extremely high levels of torsional stiffness," said Dr. Mark White, Jaguar Chief Technical Specialist; Body Complete.
