1994 Jaguar Xjs Base Convertible 2-door 4.0l on 2040-cars
Saint Louis, Missouri, United States
For sale is my beautiful 1994 Jaguar XJS 2+2 convertible. I
am selling this car due to my impending move to Rhode Island, where the climate
isn't quite convertible friendly and I won't have a garage. While not a competitive show car, it is
definitely a head-turning daily driver. The straight-6 motor does not leak oil,
nor does it blow smoke -- common faults familiar to Jaguar enthusiasts. It also maintains idle at 650rpm. The interior and convertible top were replaced by the
previous owner (I bought this car in the Fall of 2011) prior to my
purchase. All of the hoses in the engine
bay were also replaced by the previous owner. The car has been covered and
garaged since I purchased it, and has only been out in the rain on two
occasions. Goods: -- Power windows, seats, and locks still function properly,
as does the automatic antenna. Power
side-view mirrors and seat heaters still work.
You'll note from the pictures that the car comes with a full-size spare
tire on a matching wheel. Tires aren't
new, but have lots of tread left on them.
The 4.0L straight-6 still has plenty of power and is a pleasure to drive
on highways and curvy roads alike.
Battery is < 1yr old. Others: -- Car could use new motor mounts (relatively cheap fix...at
approximately $65). The automatic
convertible top still works, but the pump motor has a leak that I've been
unable to stop. A replacement motor
costs about $350, and takes about 30min to swap out. The car could probably also use some new
front brakes. Air conditioner could use a refill, as it doesn't cope well with especially hot days. Cruise control does not work, and I have never bothered to investigate why. Extras: -- Car comes with an all-weather cover if you don’t have a
garage or haven’t carved out the space yet for a weekend driver in your
garage. Has a custom cover for the
convertible top for those days when you’re going to have to top down all
day. Previous owner mistook blown fuse
for a faulty radio, and purchased a second OEM Jaguar-correct radio and
corresponding security pin…so in the event that the original radio ever goes
bad you’ll have a second one ready to install. |

Is Jaguar's 3 Series-fighter the brand's last chance?
Wed, 16 Oct 2013The upcoming line of compact 3 Series-fighters from Jaguar, often referred to as the Jaguar XS, could consist of a sedan, wagon and possibly a coupe and GT model (think BMW 5 Series GT). The car's all-aluminum architecture also will provide the basis for two new sports utility vehicles. Just how important is the much-touted "baby Jag" project to parent company Jaguar Land Rover? A JLR executive reportedly says the brand's survival is directly linked to the success of the XS, codenamed X760, Autocar reports.
The brand's survival is directly linked to the success of the XS.
"If the X760 fails, it will probably be the end for the [Jaguar] brand," the executive says. But Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar's global brand director, claims Jaguar will "build the most advanced, most efficient, most refined car in that [compact luxury sedan] segment. Not almost as good as, but better than the best in the world."
Jaguar XF Sportbrake teased in Wimbledon promotion
Tue, Apr 25 2017Until this moment, we'd only seen spy photos of the Jaguar XF Sportbrake. Now we get our first official look at the long-roof Jaguar with the above teaser photo. Pleasantly, this isn't an image of the car in shadows, but rather in full light. It happens to be a bird's-eye-view image, so there isn't much we can tell about the car aside from confirming it is indeed a wagon. That's not to say we can't tell anything, though. Close examination of the tail reveals that Jaguar has opted for more conventional, body-colored D-pillars. This is a contrast to the previous XF Sportbrake that featured piano black D-pillar panels that were reminiscent of the ones on the XJ flagship sedan. Another interesting detail is that glass roof. There don't appear to be any seams along it, indicating that this is one massive, fixed panel. Odds are an opening variant is available, but that version probably won't have the same unbroken view of the sky. This content is hosted by a third party. We also get one other teaser of the XF Sportbrake via a video in which Ian Callum talks about lines with the head groundskeeper of Wimbledon. Apparently Jaguar is providing cars for this year's tennis tournament, so some kind of marketing tie-in was inevitable. The video is pretty much what you would expect, with Callum saying flowery things about different kinds of lines and the lines on Jaguars. But at the very end, a silhouette of the XF Sportbrake is shown on the Wimbledon center court. It doesn't show much, but it is something. You can check it out for yourself at the end of the video above. In addition to these teasers, Jaguar announced that the car will be available later this year. No regions were announced, but don't hold your breath for the US market. The previous version was never offered here, and now Jaguar has the American-friendly F-Pace crossover to satiate Jaguar buyers needing more cargo space. So we don't see much of a case for bringing it here. That being said, we would certainly be happy if it came to the States. Related Video:
Jaguar Land Rover says half its models will be hybrids or all-electric by 2020
Tue, Nov 22 2016Neither Jaguar nor Land Rover has ever been mistaken for big-time green-car brands, but their parent company is trying to change that. Jaguar Land Rover looks to have as many as half of its models be of the hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or battery-electric variety by 2020, CEO Ralf Speth said at the Los Angeles Auto Show last week. Speth made the announcement while showing off the I-Pace concept compact crossover. The green-car expansion would mark a natural extension of Jaguar Land Rover's decision last year to double the headcount in its advanced-engineering department. As for the five-seat I-Pace, that model will be Jaguar Land Rover's first production electric vehicle when it starts sales in 2018. The car will have a 90-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack that will deliver a single-charge range of about 220 miles. Boasting more than 400 horsepower, the car will also be able to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in about four seconds. What's also notable is that Jaguar says the model has been designed to be an electric vehicle from the ground up, and hasn't been converted from the platform of an existing model. Of course, Jaguar late last year said it would enter a team in the FIA Formula E electric-vehicle open-wheel racing circuit, so the British badge has made recent noise about upping its green-car quotient. As for the I-Pace, the automaker hasn't revealed pricing on the model, but it's safe to say that it will be quite high. Check out a three-minute video of Speth's presentation here. Related Video:
