1990 Jaguar Xjs Base Convertible 2-door 5.3l on 2040-cars
Cement City, Michigan, United States
I bought this vehicle in 2001 becoming the #3 owner. It had 29167 miles at that time and now 13 years later has 41085 miles as shown on the odometer. Jaguar classified this as a luxury touring vehicle. It is all of that. In 1990 it came equipped with a glass rear window, heated seats with lumbar control, telephone and all leather interior. All options that were unusual for that vintage. I drove the vehicle from Idaho to Michigan in December 2004 where it was put in storage with a soft cover. I got 18 mpg on that trip. From that time on I only take it out for it's yearly trip around the block and back in storage. Any items I recognize as faulty get immediate attention from my local mechanic as the service records indicate. I noticed the hood struts are weak from the lack of use. I was able to get them to hold after some exercise. I have always been very protective of this car as only an obsessive old can be. It has never been parked in the sun with the top down, reluctantly seldom driven in the rain and only one time in the snow when I brought it to Michigan. The car still has the original Parelli tires and comes with 4 new all season tires which I bought to make the cross country trip. The car has a top boot and tool kit in the trunk and also included is the soft cover. As you all know by now this car is being sold in "AS IS" condition. I have done my best to represent any problems noticed.

Question of the Day: What's the greatest British car ever?
Fri, Jul 15 2016The British automotive industry has produced everything from high-production econo-commuters to staggeringly luxurious oligarch-wagons, along the way winning plenty of races and building plenty of beautiful machines. The original Mini led directly to the past half-century of transverse-engine, front-wheel-drive cars built everywhere, the MGB put the sporty little convertible into everyone's reach, and the Morris Oxford became the most beloved motor vehicle in India. So many to choose from, but we want you to pick one. What will it be? Related Video:
Jaguar Land Rover gets to work on new university R&D center
Fri, Mar 20 2015Jaguar Land Rover has a raft of new products in the pipeline, from the new Defender to the next-generation XF sedan. But new product isn't the only thing the British automaker is investing in: it's also opening new facilities around the world, including what it's calling the National Automotive Innovation Centre back home in the UK. Based at the University of Warwick, the new $220-million R&D center is the result of a joint effort between JLR, its parent company Tata, the manufacturing arm of the university and the British government. The facility will bring together professionals from the automaker as well as its suppliers with academics to encourage, as the name suggests, innovation in the automotive sector. Its 355,000 square feet are earmarked to become the hub for Jaguar Land Rover's advanced research activities, including "workshops, laboratories, virtual engineering suites and advanced powertrain facilities, equipped to enable a full range of design, visualisation and prototyping activities." The cornerstore was just laid in a ceremony this week, but the facility isn't due to open until the Spring of 2017 when it will encompass some 1,000 employees, including 600 relocated by JLR to the new location from other sites in the UK. Jaguar lets first outsiders drive new F-Type
Mon, 17 Dec 2012What do you do when you're an automaker with an all-new and brand-defining sports car, one of them with a supercharged V8 cranking out 495 horsepower? You let proven race drivers test them out on track and on the road.
And what do you do if you're Jaguar and you're in that situation? Why, naturally, you make a video of it. That's how we get footage of racers Martin Brundle, Justin Bell and Christian Danner being choppered into the UK's Snetterton track to test the V6-equipped Jaguar F-Type S prototype. Then when they're finished with kerb-lined apexes, they take the V8 S prototype out onto the roads to run it through hedge-lined apexes.
According to one of them, "very fast, very nimble, great engine" is what will soon be headed our way. Check it out in the video below.
