1982 Jaguar Xjs Convertible V-12 This Is A Lynx Convertable #54. 61,280 Mi on 2040-cars
Camarillo, California, United States
Jaguar did not make a XJS convertible until 1988. This is a LYNX # 58. It stared life as a Black coupe. Then it was sent back to England in 1985 and converted to a convertible and stripped down and resprayed Red. All of of this history is in my records. The top has a built in roll bar, very sturdy. Goes up and down, all electric, including latching to the front wind shield. The rear side windows roll down, unlike the Coupe. all windows are electric of course. It needs a few minor things, such as, a pair of new hood pistons, that hold open the hood. Somebody stole the radio. Could be more, but can,t think of any. If I do I'll add them in later.
This has been my favorite car. I have had many cars before and during the last 23 years. Now I must part with it. Someone will get a great car. Purchased in 1990 and maintained to the max. What ever it needed, and many times before it needed it. Radiator, water pump, new air conditioner, all belts and hoses several times. New top a few years ago, $1500. I have all of the records. In 2012 I had all ignition parts replaced, there a long list. plus complete service and smog test, passed. If you get a Carfax, it will tell you there are no Accidents. This car was smoged every 2 years since 1990 and the mileage is correct. This car will not start for me. It turns over just fine, but that's it. I didn't start it for about a year due to medical problems. My loss will be your gain. I am not selling because it won't start. I have to sell it due to my advanced age. The buyer may come and tow it away or send a tow truck. My home has a long driveway that will not accommodate a truck over 32 foot long. The car can be inspected by appointment. I welcome your questions. |

Jaguar and Land Rover to consolidate dealerships
Thu, 29 Nov 2012Jaguar and Land Rover are set to merge their sales facilities, according to Inside Line. Jaguar Land Rover North America President Andy Gross says 45 percent of Jaguar owners also have an SUV in their stable, so it makes sense to give customers as much exposure to the cat's high-riding cousins and possible. The number of overall outlets will remain the same, and the brands will reportedly remain separate on the showroom floor, however.
So far, just one dealer has made the move to combine under the roof of one 68,000 square-foot facility in Paramus, New Jersey (above), though a further 20 are ready to make the shift and become Jaguar Land Rover outlets. Gross believes the shift is necessary so that his company's dealer network will accurately reflect the company's products. We'll see how cozy the brands are when Jaguar starts rolling out its own SUVs in a few years.
Jaguar Land Rover says key models in short supply, some have six-month wait lists
Fri, 08 Aug 2014Care for a bit more proof that the Jaguar Land Rover portfolio of vehicles is the best it's ever been? Well, the Indian-owned pair of brands saw a record year in 2013, while 2014 has seen a 14-percent increase in sales. The crazy thing is, though, is that figure could be even higher, provided the company had the production capacity.
JLR is running a six-month waiting list on two of its most popular models, the Range Rover Sport (above) and Range Rover. According to Mark White, the company's chief technologist for body engineering, the blame can be placed on the paint shop at the company's Solihull factory, in the UK.
"We will probably max out the paint shop before we max out the body shop. Putting the second body shop in has given us the flexibility to ebb and flow the different models that go through there and meet the capacity demands we've got," White told Automotive News. "However, you always hit a bottleneck somewhere. And the paint shop is probably going to be the next biggest obstacle."
Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels
Thu, 24 Jan 2013The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.
