I am selling my 99 Jaguar XJR. I have moved and no longer have a garage for it; I don't drive it as much as I used to either, so it's time for it to find a new home with someone who will enjoy it as much as I have. I am not the original owner, I bought it here on ebay a few years back. When I got it the odometer read just a bit over 129k miles, it now has over 139k miles. I have mostly used the car for weekend trips and pleasure driving. I still drive it now a couple of times a week to keep it running well and working correctly. It is a bit dirty in the pics as I took them after using it for a couple of days. It will be washed and cleaned in and out for the new owner. It is a car that I have loved driving and have put a lot of work into.
I bought this car because I wanted this exact model-an XJR in black with black leather and burled walnut interior trim. To me, it is one of the most beautiful cars ever built. I bought a car that I could afford, it wasn't in mint condition. I wanted a driver, and it's a great one. One year after buying it, a coolant hose failed, the engine overheated, and I had to face repairing or replacing the engine. I took the car to Rich Edwards at Velocity Motorsports in Nashville TN, a very good import mechanic who came recommended to me by some other Jaguar owners. Rich hunted and sourced a complete 1999 engine that came out of a rear ended car that had been a pampered 1 owner auto, and the car had only travelled 11,000 miles since new. We purchased the engine and shipped it up from Alabama to Nashville. We then improved it during installation by replacing the problematic stock cam chain tensioners with later ones made of steel (the originals were a hard plastic, which failed on many cars, causing catastrophic failures). All pumps, hoses, and belts were replaced at that time. The car ran out fantastic after that, I have only put 7000 miles on since then (3 years) and it continues to run right. At that time, Rich also installed new door handle mechanisms, as the back doors would stick shut; Problem solved the doors have worked just fine ever since.
I just have completed several maintainance jobs and updates in the last month or two, this car is ready for driving pleasure! These were expertly perfomed by the staff of Bell Buckle Motor Works here near my home.
Newly rebuilt ABS braking module
New Transmission module, solonoids
New battery
Transmission service
Coolant, oil (20w50 all synthetic),and filter changes
Brand new Goodyear S/A tires have less than 300 miles on them
New rear brake lines
It's a great car mechanically, but like any car this old, that has just been driven normally, it has some weak cosmetics and such. Nothing that detracts from the car's appeal much; It's an honest car, and a driver-so I have enjoyed it the way it is. If I hadn't moved to a place with no garage, and if I were driving it more-I'd fix all this stuff- but it's time for me to let the next fellow have a chance to enjoy the car, so I have priced it accordingly. Here's the issues I see.
Paint is original, and while it has a good color, it's needing paint work. The back bumper has some flaking, there are various small dings and such. Has some wear.
Interior-the headliner is hanging down a bit. I was just going to staple it up some, but I figured I had better not-the next owner may want to re-glue at an upholstery shop.
The wood is finished in real nitrocellulose lacquer, and it has some finish checks. I actually like these, as most vintage guitars and fine antique furniture will check over time. To me, it validates that these materials are the real deal.
The passenger sunvisor needs a new clip.
The rear window brake light needs glued back on to the glass. I may try some double sided tape for that.
The cigarette lighter does not work.
The driver's power seat occasionally blows a fuse and you can't move it around til you change it. Also the leather is good, except for the drivers seat, which has a crack and needs to be re-upholstered or replaced eventually.
The badges on the trunk lid need replaced, they are worn and chipped.
Someone snagged my original walnut shift knob-I put a black ash one on that I was able to find at a junk yard. It looks fine.
The cupholder springs are shot; These always do this. I always leave it open anyway, so no bother for my purposes.
I do not have the valet key. I never have, but valets have not had it to park since I have owned it.
Positive things about the car, the Stereo works and sounds great; the 6 CD changer in the trunk does the job and does not skip, electric antenna performs as it should, and the Harmon Kardon speakers are very nice sounding. The dash clock keeps time well.
A/C and climate control work as they should-so do the heated front seats. The sunroof works just fine, doesn't leak and seals nice and tight. All windows and locks work as they should.
Overall this car is very nice, and can be driven as is, no problem. It has lots of new parts and has had excellent care. I know what has gone into the car and will be glad to have anyone call and talk with me about it. Steering, brakes, engine, and transmission all work flawlessly, the car runs strong and straight; it handles and brakes the same way. With some cosmetic work it could be a stunner again (it is anyway, I get compliments from everyone on this car).
My name is Mark, I am proud of this old Jag, and I am selling it at a reasonable price. I have a clear title in hand. Please call me and I'll be glad to answer any questions. I have a job and kids, so calling will be best in the mornings, between 9 am and noon CST, when I am most free. The number is 615-613-3144. You can also message me here, that's fine as well. Thanks and good luck.

Jaguar I-Pace named World Car of the Year
Wed, Apr 17 2019NEW YORK — The Jaguar I-Pace has been named World Car of the Year, an award meant to honor the most significant new car introduction and conferred by an international jury of automotive journalist judges. The group announced the winners of additional awards at the New York Auto Show, with the Audi A7 named World Luxury Car of the Year, the McLaren 720S recognized as World Performance Car of the Year, and the Suzuki Jimny named World Urban Car. The I-Pace additionally took home two other awards: World Car Design of the Year and World Green Car of the Year. The WCOTY team of 86 jurors hail from 24 countries, and the organization is independent and not tied to any publication. This is the 15th year for the awards. For this year's World Car of the Year award the top three finalists were the I-Pace, the Audi E-Tron, and the Volvo S60/V60. Previous WCOTY winners were the Volvo XC60 in 2018 and the Jaguar F-Pace in 2017. View 74 Photos
Weekly Recap: The divergent paths of Tesla and Fisker
Sat, 02 Aug 2014
There's no doubt that Tesla is downshifting while Fisker has been grinding its gears. But it wasn't always that way.
In the wake of Tesla's recent success, it's easy to forget that there were once two California electric carmakers with bright futures.
Jaguar F-Pace SUV teased on YouTube [UPDATE]
Wed, Jun 24 2015UPDATE: Stuart Schorr, Jaguar Land Rover North America's VP of communications, reached out and explained that the Detroit section of the F-Pace video was recycled from the car's confirmation announcement at the 2015 North American International Auto Show, shown here. "There is 100 percent no subliminal message and Frankfurt is the debut location," Schorr told Autoblog. The story has been edited to reflect this information. With the Jaguar F-Pace slated to debut in less than 90 days, at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, the teasers are starting to ramp up. That means videos like this, featuring Jaguar design master Ian Callum, which give us short, sweet peeks at the British brand's very first crossover. The big teasers come in the form of Callum's drawings of the F-Pace, combined with short clips of its headlights and taillights as it zooms around the streets of downtown Detroit. That said, none of the images shown are so dramatically different from the C-X17 Concept, the vehicle that previewed the production model and makes an appearance here. We aren't really sure why the Motor City features in the teaser, considering the F-Pace is being unveiled in Germany, but one of the final sequences sees a set of taillights streak past Cobo Center, home of the annual Detroit Auto Show. It's a weird decision to be sure, and leaves us wondering just how much truth there is to reports of the Frankfurt debut. Why would Jag make such a decision if the D weren't going to play some role in the car's future? Take a look at the video up top, and let us know what you think of Jag's first F-Pace teaser. Is there any particular design detail we missed? What do you think of the potential Detroit connection? Head into Comments and let us know.
