I am the second owner and bought it at ~80k miles. The first owner did all dealer maintenance. I used a good mechanic. We both kept her garaged and performed regular maintenance. I have all my receipts. I have to sell her because I have a baby girl and must get a four wheel car for New England winters. I am uncertain about how much the transmission issue will cost to fix. Could be a fluid change, could be a new transmission. The transmission slips substantively in reverse, first, and second gear.   The engine oscillates plus and minus ~50 RPM in certain running conditions.   This the perfect car for someone who knows enough to understand the problem, address it, and enjoy a gem. I had this throughout my bachelor days and loved driving her. Even after 4+hour car rides, you get out feeling human and wanting more. She loves highways, but can get up our snowy hill with modest snow. Body is clean. I know of no body damage, ever. Snow studs have ~1k miles. Three summer tires available. Light tan leather interior is clean. Engine sounds great and accelerates with immense power. Suspension is super smooth. HVAC works well, hot and cold. Heated seats in front. Seat adjustments work. Interior smells good. Trunk is clean. Spare rim functions, but has some substantive damage to holes for lugs. All dials, mirrors, indicators, and controls function. Radio and CD. CD changer in trunk. Bluetooth installed with speaker phone. Sound system sounds crisp. I am interested in selling her to someone with a plan to get the most from her. She needs a capable owner, not a bottom feeder or someone who doesn't understand Jaguars. Serious inquiries only please. Most of what I know is in the pictures.

Petrolicious profiles one of the final Jaguar E-Types

Wed, 10 Apr 2013

There's no question that David Paddison has got a very lovely 1974 Jaguar E-Type convertible. The rubber bumpers of this late E-Type may distract ever so slightly from the purity of the lines, but that doesn't mean we're still not completely jealous of the latest Petrolicious subject car.
As usual, the team of vintage car videographers has done a fine job capturing a small moment of gear-headness with this latest installment - The Last of the Breed. We do wonder why we don't get to hear a little bit more of that famed Jaguar V12 rumble, however. There's just a whiff of engine and exhaust sound in the middle of the video, while the rest of the piece sounds like it was scored by Amy Grant's rhythm guitarist. See for yourself, below.

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack

Sun, 21 Sep 2014

Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.

542-HP Jaguar XJR to debut at New York Auto Show

Wed, 20 Mar 2013

Jaguar has just announced that a higher-than-ever performance version of its XJ flagship will be coming to this year's New York Auto Show next week. Joining the company's R lineup is this XJR, which will boast a stonking 542 horsepower from its supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine.
Though details about the new XJ are pretty slim - you can read Jag's teaser of a press release - we are told that the car will ride on a "bespoke chassis" and that some aerodynamics work has been done, as well. The one sultry image we have of the car shows a set of trim-specific wheels, lower sills and unique badging on the front grille.
The new XJR would seem to slot above the current top-dog XJ, the XJ Supersport. With a bump up of 32 hp versus the Supersport, performance should get a meaningful shot in the arm, as well. As for pricing, we'll have to wait for the NYC show to be sure. But other Jaguar models show an increase of between 15- and 20-percent between the R model and the next one down; that would indicate a price tag in the $130k range for a standard wheelbase XJR is in order.
